Development of Progressive Download Video Transmission EDR based RTOS on Wireless LAN (RTOS 기반 무선랜 장치가 연결된 영상기록저장장치의 Progressive Download 방식 영상전송 기술 개발)

  • Event Data Recorder(Car Black-Box) with WiFi dongle have been released, and the platform of the majority is the Linux platform. This is because the platform development is possible in little investment cost by reducing the source licensing costs by taking advantage of the open source. But utilizing Linux platform has the limitations of boot-up time and consuming processing power due to the limitation of battery capacity, to be cost-competitive to minimize the use of memory. In this paper, the real-time operating system(RTOS) is utilized to optimize these portions. MP4 encoder and Muxer are developed to be about ten seconds boot up and minimized memory. It has the advantages of operating at lower power consumption than the Linux utilizing WiFi dongle. Utilizing a WiFi dongle is to provide a progressive download feature on smart phones to lower product prices. But RTOS has the weakness in WiFi. Porting TCP /IP, Web and DHCP server and combination with the USB OTG Host interface by implementing the protocol stack are developed for WiFi. And also SPI NOR flash memory is utilized for faster boot time and cost reductions, low processing power to be consume. As the results, the developed proved the 10 seconds booting time, 24 frame rate/sec. and 10% lower power consumption.

  • In case of remote image retrieval via shared network or low speed link in order to make a decision for target image problems such as transmission delay are encountered. In this paper browsing and optimization techniques are proposed for fast retrieval of Image by the multiresolution representation and progressive transmission. The proposed network model was analyzed and evaluated for system's performance improvement. Interactive user-system using several multiresolution representation has shown better performance in transmission delay minimization over the single resolution image retrieval system.

  • The need for Fault Current Limiters (FCL) is associated with the continuous growth and interconnection of modem power systems and increase in dispersed generation facilities, which result in progressive increase in the short circuit capacity far beyond their original design capacity. Fault Current Limiters (FCL) clips the fault currents and reduces the electromechanical stresses on the network and the need to handle excessive fault currents. In addition, the reduction of the fault duration Provided by the limiter should increase the power transmission capability and improve the dynamic stability. This paper proposes the model of resistive type superconducting fault current limiter using EMTDC(Electromagnetic transients for DC analysis program). In order to verify the effectiveness of the SFCL, in this paper, the analysis of fault current in a transmission system through the EMTDC based simulation by using the modeled component of a resistive type SFCL is peformed and the detailed results are given.

  • Many in the industrial world that consume high amounts of energy are trying to reduce energy when manufacturing their products. Energy saving during manufacturing is a cost reduction. Reduced cost is necessary for profit improvement. The Piston Under Drive Brake used in the current study is an automotive transmission part. The original machining after hot forging was changed to machining after cold forging of a plate in order to save energy and cost. Two extrusion shapes along the outer diameter caused decreased tool life because of the interrupted cut during turning. Therefore, a thickness reduction of two extrusion areas in the outer diameter was needed. The current study suggests an effective way to reduce the thickness of interrupted cut by using progressive blanking.

  • This paper proposes an efficient spatial data manager for map services in mobile environment. It is designed to provide interoperability and efficient performance at once. To provide interoperability and reusability, the spatial data manager conforms to international standards such as the OpenGIS Simple Features Implementation Specification for OLE/COM, OpenGIS Geography Markup Language (GML) Encoding Specification developed by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). The spatial data manger exploits physical main memory using Address Windowing Extensions supported by Microsoft Windows to manage spatial data for efficient performance by reducing time to read data from disk on user's request. The format of the spatial data in main memory is target data (GML) to reduce conversion time from source data to it. Progressive transmission is also provided to reduce latency time by representing only received partial data for mobile environment without waiting whole transmission.

  • This paper describes a new progressive embedded Internet Protocol(IP) camera available for real-time image transmission. It was applied for ship safety and security on seashore area. The functions of developed embedded system was more effective and excellent than conventional systems. Nowadays, each nation has established harbor security systems to jump up their ports to international port. Recently Incheon port has tried to change man security into center security system used by image security system. The security system of Incheon port has some advantages like effectivity of security system and reduction of manpower and cost, installed by image security system with CCTV cameras at the entrance gate and around the fence. Thus in this paper, we have designed and implemented a Personal Digital Assistants(PDA) based Image Surveillance System for Harbor Security using IP Camera under ubiquitous environment. This system has big advantages which are more effective in an emergency and low cost and small manpower than conventional systems.

  • 본 논문은 렌더링-효과적인 삼각형 메쉬의 점진 전송을 위한 새로운 메쉬 표현 데이터 구조(점진 스트립)를 제안한다. 점진 스트립은 기간 메쉬까지 단순화된 스트립과 이러한 스트립을 단계적으로 복원할 수 있는 일련의 상세 정보로 구성된다. 점진 스트립 기반의 메쉬 전송 전송에서 메쉬 연결정보는 삼각형 스트립 상에서 직접적으로 복원되기 때문에 렌더링 과정에서 그래픽 가속기로 전송되는 데이터양을 크게 줄일 수 있다. 단순화된 스트립에서 발생하는 불필요한 과잉정보를 줄이기 위해 삼각형 스트립 표현의 간결함을 이용하여 스트립의 선축약 연산을 인코딩 하는 방법과 스트립의 정점 시퀀스를 재구성함으로써 불필요한 정점을 효과적으로 필터링하는 삼각형 스트립 필터링 알고리즘을 제안한다. 실험 결과 점진 전송동안 제안되어진 방법은 기존의 삼각형 기반 점진 전송 기법에 비해 메모리-그래픽스 프로세서 간 대역폭을 평균 40.5%~45.6% 줄인다.

Capacity assessment of existing corroded overhead power line structures subjected to synoptic winds

  • The physical infrastructure of the power systems, including the high-voltage transmission towers and lines as well as the poles and wires for power distribution at a lower voltage level, is critical for the resilience of the community since the failures or nonfunctioning of these structures could introduce large area power outages under the extreme weather events. In the current engineering practices, single circuit lattice steel towers linked by transmission lines are widely used to form power transmission systems. After years of service and continues interactions with natural and built environment, progressive damages accumulate at various structural details and could gradually change the structural performance. This study is to evaluate the typical existing transmission tower-line system subjected to synoptic winds (atmospheric boundary layer winds). Effects from the possible corrosion penetration on the structural members of the transmission towers and the aerodynamic damping force on the conductors are evaluated. However, corrosion in connections is not included. Meanwhile, corrosion on the structural members is assumed to be evenly distributed. Wind loads are calculated based on the codes used for synoptic winds and the wind tunnel experiments were carried out to obtain the drag coefficients for different panels of the transmission towers as well as for the transmission lines. Sensitivity analysis is carried out based upon the incremental dynamic analysis (IDA) to evaluate the structural capacity of the transmission tower-line system for different corrosion and loading conditions. Meanwhile, extreme value analysis is also performed to further estimate the short-term extreme response of the transmission tower-line system.

  • According to the development of Internet, DWDM system needs to improve the performance for long distance transmission international optical signals. For higher the transmission capacity, we have to raise the transmission speed and increase a number of channels. To make qualifications, there are a lot of technologies such as line coding, modulation, precious fiber, broadband amplification, dispersion and forward error correction. Especially, FEC has been considered as a progressive technology for long distance transmission to carry out high speed and large capacity traffic. This paper introduced the progress of each new generation of FEC and the way to employ by current system analyzed the coding gain.

  • Generally, most significant information of images is included in the object regions. Thus, this paper proposes the object regions prior transmission method using the bidirectional round filter. The proposed method extracts the object regions, and then transmits the wavelet coefficients of the object regions, prior to others, in the encoding procedure using SPIHT So, it makes significant image information be restored faster than others for a short time. Consequently, through the proposed method the significant information of images is able to be recognized at a low bit rate and the condition of the continuous transmission is decidable by recognizing significant information fast, so that the searching time and efficiency can be improved.
