가전사업을 위한 매스커스터마이제이션 모델과 디자인 전략 (Mass customization model and design strategy for consumer electronic industry)

  • 매스커스터마이제이션(mass customization)은 서로 상반되는 개념인 대량생산과 맞춤생산의 결합어로서, 가전산업은 규모의 경제를 위한 대량생산방식을 가지고 있기 때문에 이의 도입이 늦어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존 연구에서 규명된 매스커스터마이제이션 유형의 고찰과 사례연구를 통해, 제품디자인의 시각으로 재구성하여 가전산업에 적합한 모델을 선정하고 이에 따른 디자인 전략을 수립하는 것을 중심으로 논의하였다. 매스커스터마이제이션은 커스터마이제이션의 주체와 시점에 따라 생산자측 커스터마이제이션(manufacturer side customization), 유통측 커스터마이제이션(deliverer side customization), 소비자측 커스터마이제이션(customer side customization)으로 구분할 수 있으며, 가전산업은 이 중에서 소비자측 커스터마이제이션이 가장 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 이를 위해 소비자 참여 디자인에 의한 소비자 요구 수렴의 활성화와, 소비자가 전문적인 지식없이도 커스터마이제이션을 가능하게 하는 제품디자인에서의 모듈화를 디자인전략으로 제안하였다. 또한, 생산자측에 부담을 주는 모델다양화 보다는 표준 플랫폼(platform)을 통해 제3의 생산자가 선택사양을 생산/유통할 수 있도록 하는 방안도 제시하였다. 매스커스터마이제이션의 시작점은 소비자의 요구를 파악하는 것이며, 향후 매스커스터마이제이션의 활성화를 위해서는 제품디자인 비전문가들로 구성된 소비자 참여 디자인을 위한 방법 및 도구의 연구와 개발이 이루어져야 할 것이다.

Exploring the Customization Decision Support System Using Waypoint Solutions

  • Product customization has been popular since Internet shopping began. Many firms have introduced customization configuration systems, allowing customers to choose a wide range of product attributes, attracting them to participate in the shopping process, and increasing customer satisfaction. Paradoxically, the attribute-by-attribute (AbA) choice in the customization process requires a high-information processing load resulting in shopper confusion. To reduce this confusion, the CvSS (customization via starting solution) system has recently been developed. However, this system provides solution support only for the starting point of the configuration process. Thus, in this study, the authors proposes the CvWS (Customization via Waypoint Solutions) system, which would greatly reduce the customer effort needed to complete the configuration process by using a novel approach to solve the nonlinear knapsack problem. The newly proposed system is theoretically compared with the AbA customization as well as the CvSS system. Also, its feasibility is discussed in the context of the nonlinear multiconstraint knapsack problem.

제품가족의 기능적 구조 모델링 (Functional Architecture Modeling of the Product Family)

  • In mass customization, the focus is variety and customization through flexibility and quick responsiveness. Mass customizers seek to provide personalized, custom-designed products at low prices to give customers exactly what they want and to provide sufficient variety in products and services. The idea of the product family is the most adequate approach to realize mass customization. An understanding of customer needs using functional decomposition becomes necessary to enhance the performance of the product family. This paper focuses on functional architecture modeling based on customer need regarding sub-functions for the product family. A quantitative functional model captures product functionality and customer need. Based on customer need ratings and sub-function, a product-function matrix was created. Additionally, a product-product matrix was generated to provide a similarity index among product families. A case study for implementing the functional architecture modeling was performed on the single use cameras.

남성정장의 대량맞춤생산을 위한 MTM CAD시스템 활용실태연구 (A Study on the Use of MTM CAD Program for Mass Customization of Men′s Suit)

  • Mass customization utilizes the new computer technologies, supply chain management, product information management, and some level of customization of the product for the individual customer. This study aimed at grasping the actual conditions of mass customization of domestic men's suit industry and the use of MTM CAD program. The MTM apparel production programs that are used by five leading men's suit manufacturers in Korea were compared. The results of the study showed that most of the manufacturers produced mass customized men's suits to supply extraordinarily large or small size suit based on the individual order. The information listed on an order sheet used at shops was not necessarily corresponding to the information in the MTM CAD program that is use for production of suit ordered from the shop. The pattern data base on the MTM CAD program are constructed based on the sizing system of individual manufacturer. The most manufacturers translated the customer's body dimensions into difference between the standard pattern and the customer's needed adjustment.

  • Mass customization meets various needs of customers as well as produces various products and service in low cost like mass production. However, low cost and product diversity have conflicting concepts. Therefore, in order to solve this problem, we need standardization methods. In this paper, we suggest a method for determining the product platform which is a set of common parts in a product family. To achieve the method, we used the Contradiction Analysis of TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving), Using this approach, we found a model that obtains various products within limited resources and conditions. Also, we suggest another method that increases the flexibility of our method by Design Structure Matrix.

  • 오늘날 글로벌한 경쟁에서 고객의 만족도를 유지하고 생산성과 효율을 높이기 위해서 대량맞춤(mass customization)이 많은 선도기업에서 채택되고 있다. 대량맞춤은 제품가족과 제품 플랫폼에 근거하여 기업으로 하여금 새로운 제품을 유연하고 효율적이며 고객 요구에 신속히 대응하는 것을 용이하게 한다. 따라서 제품 플랫폼에 기반한 제품가족 전략이 대량맞춤을 실현화하는데 적절한 방법이다. 제품가족이란 다양한 시장의 요구를 충족하기 위해서 공통의 특성, 구성부품, 서브 시스템을 공유하는 일련의 유사한 제품군으로 정의된다. 이 연구의 목표는 제품가족 설계 전략을 이용하여 고객의 요구를 충족시키는 제품의 구성부품간의 우선순위를 찾아내고자 하는 것이다. 신 제품 개발을 위한 의사결정 과정은 피드백을 가지는 다 변량 의사결정 모형을 필요로 한다. 이를 위해서 분석적 네트워크 과정(analytic network process) 방법을 이용하여 의사결정 모델과 절차를 수립하였다. 구현을 위해서 제품가족 모델에 적합한 소형 PC인 넷북 제품을 선정하고, 각 제품가족에 대한 구성부품에 대하여 제안된 방법에 따라서 우선순위를 도출하였다. 구현결과를 QFD 모델을 이용하여 고객요구사항과 구성부품간의 관계를 분석하고 평가하였다.

의류전자상거래 환경에서 고객화 유형이 관계품질에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Consumer Perception of Customization Type on Relationship Quality in the Apparel E-business Context)

  • The convenience and flexibility due to the spread of Internet allowed consumers to easily participate in marketing activity. Consumers want to participate in designing, manufacturing, delivering of products and service by expressing their opinions to the companies because they want to buy customized goods where their requirements are incorporated. We can expect that, through this interactive process of customization between consumers and companies, strong relationship quality may be built as a result of the interaction. The main purpose of this study is to examine the influence of consumer perception of customization on relationship quality in the e-business context. To accomplish this purpose, I reviewed the concept of customization, identified the perceptive factors of customization in e-business context (i.e., perception of participation level, assessment of flexibility), and examined the type of customization. Whether customization type generates varying degrees of perception of customization and relationship quality is revealed. As a result, collaborative product/service customization generated the highest relationship quality. Assembled product customization that was built based only on predicted consumer needs without any interaction between consumer and company showed a low level of relationship quality. And this type had no significant difference from standardized products. In short, there is a strong need for e-business companies to interact with consumers to improve relationship quality.

Mass Customization in the Apparel Industry using New Technologies

  • The purpose of this study is to define mass customization in the apparel industry and to discover, the apparel industry's potential to deliver customized apparel products. Different from product-centered mass Production, mass customization is focusing on customers' unique needs. The goal of mass customization is for customers to find exactly what they want at a reasonable price. Using new technologies such as 3-D body scanning and digital printing, mass customization can give customers customfit and personalized garments. Mass customization can satisfy a customer in terms of personalization, fit and design. Adoption of mass customization will open new opportunities for the apparel manufacturer of the future. Mass customization is a strategy that apparel manufacturers should consider for their goals.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 제품가족 디자인 과목을 사례로 하여 교과과정을 재구성하고 실제 교육을 실현한 내용을 소개함으로써 산업공학에서 창의공학 설계 및 교육의 모형과 그 가능성을 을 제시하는 데 있다. 수시로 변하는 고객요구와 모델의 다양화 및 기술의 변화는 제품의 맞춤 생산과 시장 및 고객에 따른 차별화를 필요로 하며 이를 위해서 플랫폼에 기초한 제품가족 개념을 이용한 대량 맞춤화 (Mass customization)의 적용이 아주 중요하다. 제품가족이란 공통의 특성, 구성품과 서브시스템을 공유하는 상호 연관된 일련의 제품으로서 다양한 시장 분야를 충족시킨다. 제품가족의 모델링은 효과적인 제품의 개발과 제품 플랫폼 및 공통 부품과 기능을 개발하는데 아주 중요한 분야이며 학생들의 창의적인 노력이 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 목적을 위해서 개발된 교육과정을 창의 설계의 관점에서 교육하고, 실습을 통해서 학생들의 교육의 만족도 및 그 수업 참여도를 높임으로써 변화된 공학교육의 새로운 방향을 제시해 보고자 한다.

의류상품의 온라인 대량고객화 제품추천 서비스에 대한 소비자의 감정적, 인지적 반응 (Product Recommendation Service in Online Mass Customization: Consumers' Cognitive and Affective Responses)

  • This study examined the effects of product recommendation services as an atmosphere for online mass customization shopping sites on consumers' cognitive and affective responses. We conducted a between-subject experimental study using a convenience sample of college students. A total of 196 participants provided usable responses for structural equation modeling analysis. The findings of the study support the S-O-R model for a product recommendation system as an element of the shopping environment with an influence on OMC product evaluations and arousal. The results showed that OMC product recommendation service positively affected cognitive and affective responses. The findings of the study suggest that OMC retailers might pay attention to the affective and cognitive responses of consumers through product recommendation services that can enhance product evaluations and OMC usage intentions.
