Rotordynamic design of Pulsed Generator (펄스발전기의 로터다이나믹 설계)

  • The support bearing requires high DN to raise specific energy efficiency for the state of the art rotating machine with high speed. Especially for the system has a big rotor(670 kgf) with high speed(about one million DNs) such as the pulsed generator, the selection of the bearing and lubrication method are very important. So the study for the critical speed of hollow rotor as well in accordance with high speed rotor and a full analysis are needed for rotor bearing system. This paper describes the analysis for rotor bearing system of pulsed generator compared with experimental data. The bearing and lubrication method are discussed as well with experimental data.

  • Even through the problem of misalignment is of great importance, not much work has been reported in the literature on the effect of misalignment on the vibrations of the gear-bearing systems. Therefore, the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the gear drive system due to misalignment are investigated in this work. Transmission error for helical gear and bearing nonlinear stiffness is calculated. The equation of motion of the gear drive system is modelled using the time-varying gear meshing stiffness, bearing nonlinear stiffness, and bearing pre-load due to the housing deformation. Numerical analysis lot the gear drive system show the result of misalignment effect - sub-harmonic component, bearing pre-load effect, and another nonlinear phenomenon. And the numerical analysis are verified by the experimental result.

NRRO analysis of HDD spindle ball bearings using the measured geometric imperfection (실측형상오차를 이용한 HDD 스핀들용 볼베어링의 NRRO 해석)

  • This paper presents theoretical analysis of the NRRO(non-repeatable run-out) for a ball bearing with geometric imperfection. The 3DOF dynamic analysis of a ball bearing using the Newton-Raphson method is performed to calculate the displacement of shaft center. Frequency and magnitude characteristics of radial and axial vibrations are investigated. The ball form errors of the ball, the inner race, and the outer race in a HDD spindle ball bearing are precisely measured. NRRO of a ball bearing is analyzed by using the measured waviness data. It is concluded that dominant components of radial vibrations are ${\Large}f_c\;and\;2{\Larg}f_b{\pm}{\Large}f_c$, and dominant component of axial vibrations is $2{\Large}f_b$. These are generated by the size error and the second waviness of the balls.

  • The shotpeening treatment were conducted for improving the strength of rolling contact fatigue of machine element like a gear. This paper was undertaken to analyze the influence of shotpeening treatment for inner race of ball bearing on the roiling contact fatigue. Shotpeening treatment were applied to the full hardened and the carbonitrided bearing. And the rolling contact fatigue life test and X-ray diffraction test were carried out. The results of this study showed that the fatigue life of ball bearing in the clean and the contaminated oil could be improved by shotpeening treatment. This effect was found to be more pronounced to the full hardened bearing.

  • The bearing/sealing test (BST) facility is intended for tests of bearing and seal for turbopump of liquid rocket engine (LRE) in various media (water, liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen). The bearing test for serviceability is fulfilled with the estimation of the flow rate of cooling medium through the test bearing separator and with the simulation of axial and(or) radial loading. The purpose of seals test is the determination of magnitude of leakages through the seal and a time variation of this magnitude.

  • This paper describes the fluttering characteristics of the upper pad in a tilting pad journal bearing(6-pad, LOP type) using a steam turbine. In order to investigate the phenomena of the pad fluttering experimentally, the absolute vibration of the upper pads, the relative vibration between the bearing and the shaft and the circumferential distribution of the film thickness are measured under the different values of oil supply flow rate, shaft speed and bearing load.   • In these days, The base isolation system is often used to improve the seismic capacity of the structures instead of conventional techniques of strengthening the structural members. The purpose of this study is to evaluate dynamic property evaluation of control equipment using lead Lead Rubber Bearing. In this study, a base isolation test of seismic monitoring control cabinet with LRB(lead rubber bearing) was performed. The cabinet will be installed on access floor in MCR(main control room) of nuclear power plant. Details and dynamic characteristics of the access floor were considered in the construction of testing specimen. N-S component of El Centre earthquake was used as seismic input motion. Acceleration response spectrums in the top of cabinets showed that the first mode frequency of cabinet with LRB(lead rubber bearing) was shifted to 7.5 Hz in compared with 18Hz of cabinet without LRB and the maximum peak acceleration was reduced in a degree of22 percent from 2.35 g to 1.84 g

  • This paper presents the results of experimental studies on the equipment isolation effect considering the floor response. For this purpose, shaking table tests were performed. For the measuring the floor response, numerical analysis was performed. For the isolation for the equipment, Natural Rubber Bearing(NRB), High Damping Rubber Bearing(HDRB) and Friction Pendulum System(FPS) were used. Finally, it is presented that the isolation systems used in this test can be adopted for the small equipment isolation. But the rubber bearing used in this study affected to the temperature change very sensitively.

  • The ball bearing having faults generally shows, nonlinear vibration characteristics. For the effective method of fault diagnosis on bail bearing, non-linear diagnostic methods can be used. In this paper, the correlation dimension analysis based on nonlinear timeseries was applied to diagnose the faults of ball bearing. The correlation dimension analysis shows some Intrinsic information of underlying dynamical systems, and clear the classification of the fault of ball bearing.
