  • This study was undertaken to analyze the intervening effect of nursing simulation among nursing students. This was a critical review study, and data obtained were reviewed using various data bases, including RISS, KISS, NDSL, DBpia, and KRI. The terminologies entered in the data base were nursing and simulation. Selected studies were assessed for methodological quality; and narrative, descriptive or one group post-test studies were excluded from the analysis. Ed. Notes: Please review for accuracy. I have suggested the edit to the best of my understanding. Finally, 234 studies were included for investigation. Results included studies of nursing simulation intervention in Korea, commencing from 2008. One group pre-post test and two group post test were more designed in journals comparing to master thesis or doctoral dissertation. Clinical practice was the most frequently studied aspect by both the assessor and student in the two groups' pre-post test design. Nursing competences associated with dependent variables during simulation were integrated skills, critical thinking, communication, cooperation, professional recognition and leadership. The two groups pre-post design explored more varied competences as compared to other designs. Considering the results obtained, we conclude that simulation intervention is an effective teaching method for nursing students to help improve their clinical practice. However, further studies are required to assess the impact of critical thinking and problem solving.

  • Based on the theory of cognitive reserve, we undertook this study to develop a cognitive function training program for woman in menopausal transition with complaints of declining in cognitive function. The program was established by applying the analysis, design, and development stages of the network-based instructional system designed by Jung. The cognitive function training program developed by us is an was an 8-week program composed of cognitive and video training using a mobile application. The program consists of 24 sessions, each with 20-30 minutes of duration, to be completed 3 sessions per week. The contents of the cognitive function training comprise of memory, attention, language function, and scenario-based problem-solving for executive functions, all of which are cognitive areas found to be the most vulnerable for menopausal women. The educational contents were developed for eight subject areas, one subject area per week, including the definition of menopause, its causes and symptoms, menopause and brain function, etc. During the pilot test, the cognitive function training program was applied to 10 menopausal women who complained of cognitive function decline. The results indicated that, after eight weeks of training, the overall cognitive function of participants increased, revealing statistically significant differences (t=-3.04, p=.014) after the program was completed. The mobile app-based cognitive function training program might not only improve patients' memory functions but also potentially reduce the incidence of dementia.

  • With the development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, the combination of ICT and medical services has been increasing to improve the quality of medical services. Using the IoTs, we can collect personal health information continuously in a patient's everyday life. We expect that this will improve the quality of medical service through analysis. However, the problem of ensuring the protection of personal information within the personal health information has been hampering the research, development, and application of such services. Other problems include lack of IoT devices and lack of user convenience for collecting health information about a patient's everyday life. Therefore, in this study, we construct a daily health information management service that can collect the health related information at any time and store this data in personal storage. This data is then only provided to the healthcare worker when necessary. We built a test bed for an IoT-based smart home platform and are currently conducting user experiments. Based on the results of this study, we are attempting to provide a high quality medical trial service based on daily health information through linkage with medical device manufacturers, medical clinics, insurance companies, etc. We expect the proposed health information management service will contribute to the revitalization of smart health care services via activating various health related IoT devices and analyzing daily health information.

  • To evaluate the infra structure supporting hospital nutrition services, we conducted a survey on the unit of organization, unit of dietitians work system, number of personnel engaged on nutrition services, productivity of food service, management of dietitians works, computerization of nutrition services etc. Total ninety-six hospitals were participated in the survey, and they were varied in terms of hospital classification, location, number of beds and type of food service management. All of the large hospitals with more than 400 beds conducted nutrition services under the department of nutrition, but some of the middle and small hospitals with less than 400 beds conducted nutrition services under the other department such as administration. In most of the tertiary hospitals, the work of dietitians were separated in which food services and medical nutrition services were conducted independently by different dietitians, whereas, in most of general hospitals and all the hospital, food services and medical nutrition services were conducted by the same dietitians in all time. The numbers of dietitians and cooks per 100 beds were fewer in the large hospitals with more than 400 beds than the hospitals with less than 400 beds, and the number of cooking and meal serving assistants were the just opposit. The average productivity of food service was 44.5 meals per hour for each dietitian, 84.8 meals per hour for a cook and 7.0 meals per hour for a cooking and meal serving assistant. The productivities for dietitians and cooks tend to be higher in large hospitals than middle and small hospitals, whereas the productivities for cooking and meal serving assistants were just opposite. The large hospitals seemed to solve the problem on the lack of working personnels by hiring part-time workers and by utilization of computer system for their works. The pattern of daily work management in food service area was not much different between dietitians duties, but the pattern of daily work management in medical nutrition service area was different in a way which the analysis of patients nutrient intakes was almost not conducted by dietitians handling both food services and medical nutrition services. Therefore, this study demonstrates that there are significant differences in the infra structures conducting nutrition services among hospitals, suggesting that the strategies to improve this improve this structure in relation to the improvement of service qualities need to be investigated in the future. • This study aims to evaluate cutter acting forces as well as axial stresses and torques in the shaft of two kinds of disc cutters including a single disc cutter and a double disc cutter with the same cutter ring geometry in a series of linear cutting tests. From the tests, the mean values of normal forces and rolling forces acting on the double disc cutter were approximately twice as high as those from the single disc cutter. Similarly, the mean values of axial stresses in the shaft of the double disc cutter were also twice as high as those from the single disc cutter even though the comparisons of torques from two kinds of disc cutters were insignificant since they showed very low values. However, it is necessary to take the durability of a tapered roller bearing used for the double disc cutter into high consideration since the average normal force from the double disc cutter exceeds the allowable force for a disc cutter with the diameter of 432 mm (17 inches). Finally, there is no practical problem in terms of axial stresses in the shaft of the double disc cutter since they are much lower than the yielding stress of the cutter shaft material, even though the axial stresses in the shaft of the double disc cutter are approximately twice as high as those from the single disc cutter.

  • Various housing measures are needed for the rapidly aging society of Korea. In particular, the welfare policy for the elderly has changed towards the community care. Taking this fact into consideration, it is necessary to have the establishment of a system that offers the elderly appropriate welfare services at their appropriate residence (ageing in place) for the effectiveness of the community care. In this aspect, there are a number of implications to Korea to study merits and demerits of the Health Facilities for the Aged (HFA) in Japan. The society of Japan has been rapidly aging since 1970, and Korea is to face the same situation. As for the data of this study, a total of 2,393 facilities (as of November 1999) mentioned in the annual report of the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare were classified based on types of their establishment: (1) free-standing structures (603 facilities); (2) annexes to hospitals (981 facilities); (3) annexes to welfare facilities (511 facilities); and (4) annexes to clinics (298 facilities). Next, 239 facilities were selected through taking a sample of 10 percent from each type of the HFA mentioned above. This was done through the random sampling method with the computer program of MS EXCEL. The Implications of the results of analyses are as follows. First, most of the health facilities were planned with the scale that was larger than the scale of standard special nursing homes in terms of the total floor area. Precise equations that were to obtain precise results of the scale of the HFA and the appropriate number of residents were obtained through the method of the regression analysis. Korea and Japan have similarities in terms of culture, society and family relations; however, the two countries also have differences in terms of the application of laws on the establishment of houses, hospitals, and welfare facilities. As for planning the scale of the HFA, the realities of Korea should be considered. Second, as for the functional aspect of the HFA with a condition of returning home, the place before and after the HFA showed the pattern of 'from a residential place to a residential place' and 'from a hospital to a hospital.' This reveals a close correlation with the types of the HFAs and operational ways of the facilities. Its cause is considered to be the aspect of the operation and management of the HFA rather than the aspect of its function of providing services in association with medical and health facilities. Therefore, when intermediate welfare facilities are considered in Korea, it is strongly advised to consider the problem of annexes to other facilities and efficiency of sharing of the facilities in terms of its operation and management.

  • Geodemographics(GD) can be defined as an analytical approach of socio-economic and behavioral data about people to investigate geographical patterns. GD is based on the assumptions that demographical and behavioral characteristics of people who live in the same neighborhood are similar and then the neighborhoods can be categorized with spatial classifications with the geographical classifications. Thus, this paper, in order to identify the applicability of the geographical classification of the GD, explores the concepts of the geodemographics into Seoul city areas with Korea census data sets that contain key characteristics of demographic profiles in the area. Then, this paper attempt to explain each area classification profile by using clustering techniques with Ward's and k-means statistical methods. For this as as as, this paper employs 2005 Census dataset released by Korea National Statistics Office and the neighborhood unit is based on Dong level, the smallest administrative boundary unit in Korea. After selecting and standardizing variables, several areas are categorized by the cluster techniques into 13, this paps as distinctive cluster profiles. These cluster profiles are used to cthite a short description and expand on the cluster names. Finally, the results of the classification propose a reasonable judgement for target area types which benefits for the people who make a spatial decision for their spatial problem-solving.

  • By executing corrosion experiment on Inconel 600, 690 used to material of S/G tube in domestic NPP, this paper show estimation of amount of product such as Co-58, Co-60, Cr-51, Mn-54, Fe-59 which are main exposure cause to the workers in NPP. Therefore, Making the 12 samples consisted of Inconel 600, 690, whole corrosion experiment was carried out for 60 days(each pH by 20 days). The conditions of those tests were similar or more harsh than actual conditions of domestic NPP. The Glow Discharge Spectrometer(GDS) was used for quantitative analysis of results. The results of using GDS, the Inconel 600 corrodes more than Inconel 690 at pH 7 and pH 9. However, it is observed that Inconel 690 corrodes more than Inconel 600 at pH 4. Those results is estimated that test sections had the effect of transient. The long terms of experiment is required to minimize and solve the problem.

  • Alcohol dependence is a global public health problem, yet the mechanisms of alcohol dependence are incompletely understood. The traditional view has been that ethanol alters various neurotransmitters and their receptors in the brain and causes the addiction. However, an increasing amount of experimental evidence suggests that gut microbiota also influence brain functions via gut-to-brain interactions, and may therefore induce the development of alcohol use disorders. In this study, a rat model of alcohol dependence and withdrawal was employed, the gut microbiota composition was analyzed by high-throughput 16S rRNA gene sequencing, and the metagenome function was predicted by PICRUSt software. The results suggested that chronic alcohol consumption did not significantly alter the diversity and richness of gut microbiota in the jejunum and colon, but rather markedly changed the microbiota composition structure in the colon. The phyla Bacteroidetes and eight genera including Bacteroidales S24-7, Ruminococcaceae, Parabacteroides, Butyricimonas, et al were drastically increased, however the genus Lactobacillus and gauvreauii in the colon were significantly decreased in the alcohol dependence group compared with the withdrawal and control groups. The microbial functional prediction analysis revealed that the proportions of amino acid metabolism, polyketide sugar unit biosynthesis and peroxisome were significantly increased in the AD group. This study demonstrated that chronic alcohol consumption has a dramatic effect on the microbiota composition structure in the colon but few effects on the jejunum. Inducement of colonic microbiota dysbiosis due to alcohol abuse seems to be a factor of alcohol dependence, which suggests that modulating colonic microbiota composition might be a potentially new target for treating alcohol addiction.
