  • TPMS is a vehicle electric system that measures the air pressure of a tire, and informs the driver of current tire states. The TPMS sensor typically uses unidirectional communication for small size, light weight, and low power. The transmission period of the sensor indicates the service quality of monitoring the tire. In order to determine the optimal transmission period, frame collision probability and the life time of the sensor should be analyzed. In this paper, collision probability model using Venn diagram is designed in low power TPMS with the normal and warning mode. And the life time and a collision probability were analyzed with the ratio(n) of the normal mode to warning mode transmission period. As a result, $T_{nP}=31sec$ and $T_{wP}=2.4sec$ at 5 years, and $T_{nP}=71sec$ and $T_{wP}=2.5sec$ at 7 years.

  • Recently, the mobile social networks, which consider both social relationship between users and mobile communication networks, have been received great attention. In this paper, we consider the trust degree of node as the social relationship for the cooperative communication networks. In contrast to the existing works that consider the case of the perfect trust degree information, for the case that transmitter has an imperfect trust degree information, we propose an imperfect trust degree based cooperative communication technique that maximizes a throughput. We first model the imperfect trust degree information as a probability distribution and derive the outage probability using the probability distribution. Then, we propose the transmission scheme that maximizes the throughput, which consider both outage probability and transmission rate. The simulation results show that the proposed cooperative transmission scheme outperforms the conventional scheme in terms of the throughput.

  • This paper proposes a vehicle ad-hoc network (VANET) routing algorithm to reduce the probability of routing path discontinuity in urban intersections. In urban intersections, the vehicles may frequently change their moving directions. It can cause the disconnection of routing path and the increase of a packet transmission delay. In order to resolve this problem, the proposed routing algorithm exploits the information of moving directions in urban intersections. In this way, the proposed algorithm can reduce the probability of the local maximum which causes the increase of the number of routing hops and packet transmission delay. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the local maximum probability by 10% and increase the successful packet transmission ratio by 5% compared to the conventional VANET routing algorithms.

  • In this paper, a selective multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) transmission scheme is proposed in dual-hop MIMO relaying systems, in which orthogonal space-time block code(OSTBC) transmission and transmit antenna selection(TxAS) transmission are selectively used. Assuming independent Rayleigh fading channels, the outage probability is analyzed for a decode-and-forward(DF) relaying system using the selective MIMO transmission scheme. Also, through numerical investigation, the outage performance for the DF relaying system using the selective MIMO transmission scheme is compared with that for the conventional DF relaying system using OSTBC or TxAS. Moreover, from the performance comparison, it is shown that the proposed scheme can reduce the system overhead without outage performance degradation.

  • Wireless Relaying is a promising solutions to overcome the channel impairments and provides high data rate coverage that appear for beyond 3G mobile communications. In this paper we present end to end BER performance of dual hop wireless communication systems equipped with multiple Decode and Forward relays over Rayleigh fading channel with the best relay selection. We compare the BER performance of the best relay with the BER performance of single relay. We select the best relay based on the end to end channel conditions. We further calculate the outage probability of the best relay. It is shown that the outage probability of the best relay is equivalent to the outage probability when all relays take part in the transmission. We apply Orthogonal Space Time Block coding(OSTBC) at the source terminal. Numerical and simulation results are presented to verify our analysis.

  • Smart metering is one of the most implementable internet-of-thing service. In order to implement the smart metering, a wireless communication network should be newly designed and evaluated so as to satisfy quality-of-service of smart metering. In this paper, we consider a wireless network for the smart metering implemented with multi-purpose wireless chips and channel coding-functioned micro controllers. Especially, channel coding is newly adopted to improve successful frame transmission probability. Based on the successful frame transmission probability, average transmission delay and delay violation probability are analyzed. Using the analytical results, service coverage expansion is evaluated. Through the delay analysis, service feasibility can be verified. According to our results, channel coding needs not to be utilized to improve the delay performance if the smart metering service coverage is several tens of meters. However, if more coverage is required, chanel coding adoption definitely reduces the delay time and improve the service feasibility.

  • In this thesis a wireless data transmission system has been proposed and analysed that uses the multi-carrier technique with the adaptive modulation scheme. In general, the OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) system is assigning a same amount of information to all sub-carriers in a wireless data transmission. In the proposed system, the different amount of information is assigned to each sub-carrier depending on the state of channel and the target probability of error of system. With the proposed scheme, the transmission rate can be maximized with the fixed power and the required power to transmit the information can be minimized with the target probability of error of system.

  • In this paper, the average probability of the symbol error rate (SER) and throughput are studied in the presence of joint spectrum sensing and data transmission in a cognitive relay network, which is in the environment of an optimal power allocation strategy. In this investigation, the main component in calculating the secondary throughput is the inclusion of the spatial false alarms, in addition to the conventional false alarms. It has been shown that there exists an optimal secondary power amplification factor at which the probability of SER has a minimum value, whereas the throughput has a maximum value. We performed a Monte-Carlo simulation to validate the analytical results.

  • In this paper, we propose an analysis model for the performance of channel error probability in Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) using Markov model. In this model it is assumed that the compressor and decompressor work in Unidirectional Mode. And the average throughput of SCTP protocol is obtained by finding the throughputs of when the initial channel state is good or bad.

  • This paper proposes a backoff control scheme for guaranteeing fair packet transmissions in TDMA wireless networks. In order to maximize the system performance, the number of packets transmitted in a frame should be kept at a proper level. In the proposed scheme, the base station calculates the packet transmission probability according to the offered loads and then broadcasts to all the mobile stations. Mobile stations attempt to transmit a packet with the received probability. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can offer better system throughput and delay performance than the conventional one regardless of the offered loads.
