Developing textile design having watercolor effect and woven texture using Photoshop for Transfer Digital Textile Printing(DTP)

  • Computer development and new printing technology allow us to express a new type of digital textile designs those were not possible in the past. In this study, watercolor overlaying effect of various colors was tried using airbrush tool in Photoshop program. Photoshop program is a powerful graphic tool and can be used in textile design area to generate various types of designs. Woven texture was also applied to the design to give yarn dyed effects or rich appearance. Photoshop program was also used to develop woven texture without the help of the professional textile CAD. Photoshop channels enables the designers to apply various textures to the image. Plain weave and houndstooth were applied in this study. Colorways of the developed designs having watercolor effect and woven texture by applying Photoshop color adjustment function. Quick and simultaneous changes of colors were possible using this method. The developed textile designs were printed by transfer DTP. Successful textile design prints were expressed and showed watercolor overlaying effect and woven texture. The printed textiles show a little brighter color, and therefore, sample printing is recommendable in case of color sensitive production.

  • Glass frits for dielectric layers are mostly used for screen printing process. Several additives have already been known to be well matched with lead-oxide glasses system. The use of lead oxide, however, creates environmental problems, so many recent studies on lead-free glasses compositions have been carried out. A study of the suitability between additives and lead-free glass system is needed. In this study, we have used a screen-printing method to make thick films of lead-oxide glass and lead-free glass using different additives, and analyzed and compared the transmittance of the thick films.

  • When considering clothing of the North American Indians, it is important to understand historical background of the North American Indians. With the coming of he Europeans, the North American Indians adopted new materials of clothing and ornamentation and added European elements to their own dresses. New materials appeared in textiles, beadswork, and metalwork. The introduction of the "true" loom and steel needle by the Spanish led in the New World to the development of a weaving culture. Cotton cloth, in calico prints, gingham, or plain were made into dresses, and colorful applique, patchwork designs adapted from the white women. Cloth made an immediate impact, replacing skin that is so time-consuming in preparation. Glass beads, pony beads, seed beads and ribbons were used to create adornment Indian clothing. Brass, tin and silver were used among Indian metalworkers to make some ring, necklace, bracelet, etc.

Digital Ink-jet Printing for Chitosan-treated Cotton Fabric

  • In this paper, chitosan was suggested for using as a replacement for sodium alginate in the pretreatment print paste for digital ink-jet printing for cotton fabric. Pretreatment print pastes prepared from the mixture of chitosan and acetic acid with the appropriate viscosity gave satisfactory prints on the cotton fabric. Chitosan-treated cotton fabrics were digitally ink-jet printed with four different colors and the color fastness rating of the printed fabrics was satisfactory. Experimental results revealed the possibility of pre-treating the cotton with chitosan to replace the sodium alginate normally present in the pretreatment print paste recipe.

  • In shipbuilding process, automated marking systems are used to print steel part information on the steel plate. Especially, an automated marking system with a moving ink-head prints characters on each block, which divide the steel plate into a fixed size. Therefore it is necessary to split characters, because some characters can be extended into several blocks. Particularly the algorithm, which splits characters, must guarantee its printing quality in any direction since characters can be printed by any angle.

  • Whenever environment allows for a more efficient application of the advanced methods published in books or articles, such methods must necessarily be applied in practice. One of the major reasons why the numerous methods are ignored is the lack of experts who could make selections of proper inspection method. An expert system which would perform as if each factory had a resident expert is developed. The expert system is mainly comprised of three parts. The first part presents the performance measures of the inspection methods currently used or inquired. The system includes almost all the inspection methods presented in Schilling's book. The second part presents an appropriate inspection method by inputting various environments through the user interface. The third part prints the inspection methods in accordance with the format which will be used in the field, stores the inspection results that follow, and then administers the acceptance inspection as a system by considering the past results.

  • This is the study which appear the relation between the situation of Anchor point and the qualities of lithographic prints using the uncoated paper. Anchor point were measured by microscopic photography and Kubelka-munk`s method. The situation of Anchor point increased with print density and print though, but it decreased with evenness and rub off. In case of commercial uncoated paper, the situation of Anchor point was optimized when it was 25~35% apporoximately. In preparation of samples for microscopic photography, the samples were used by the resin testing methods. This method used that the resin fixes the printed papers of sample very hard, in preparation of samples for microscopica potography a good result could be gained by this method.

  • The term color management system design, an ensemble of algorithm that provides a framework in which color information can be processed consistently throughout a digital imaging system. This is most commonly achieved through the use of special color transformation, known as device independent color transformation based on ICC device profiles. The purpose of this paper is to present some of the scientific principles of color management, and the original color management algorithms and solutions for digital soft color proofing system development.

  • 1. To define 'Korean medicine industry' through study on existing medicine related industries, Korean medicine industry means all industrial activities related to Korean medicine. It covers material resources such as herbs and products made with herbs, medical instruments, Korean medical service and related information service based on Korean medicine theories. 2. According to Korea National Statistical Office standard industrial branch, Korean medicine industry was classified as a large branch. There were industries such as agriculture, food and beverage manufacture, publishing, copy of prints and record media, manufacture of compound and chemical products, medical service, manufacture of precise optical instruments, wholesale trade and product mediation, retail trade, restaurant, research and development, education service, health preservation service, entertainment, culture and sports industry related to the Korean medicine industry. 3. If we classify this according to the industry branch of English economists Clark, Colin Grant, herb cultivating industry will be classified as primary industry, manufacture of foot and beverage related to Korean medicine, secondary industry and wholesale and retail sales of herb, research and development, education, health preservation, social welfare, tertiary industries.
