This paper studies on the noncontact displacement sensor system to detect the displacement of the cylinder rod. For an inexpensive and a simple process, magnetic scales are printed on the cylinder rod, and magnetized by the specially designed magnetizer that has an yoke through the alternation of N and S pole. Noncontact displacement sensor system consists of cylinder with magnetic scales, Hall sensor, linear guide, controller and display. The system can detect the displacement of moving cylinder with 5 cm/sec in the case of 1 mm magnetic scale. It shows a possibility of position detection of hydraulic cylinder and air cylinder.
The insufflators in endoscopic surgery supply carbon dioxide to make the air-filled cavity in the abdomen. It contains many kinds of pneumatic and electronic parts and they are connected with the air tubes and electrical wires. The printed circuit boards (PCB) perform wiring, holding and cooling tasks in electronic systems. In this study, the PCB is used as the air channel for insufflators to decrease the cost, volume, and the malfunction according to aging of the device. Three layers of PCB made of FR4 are combined with prepreg as adhesive which has the internal airway channel according to the design. By mounting the pressure sensors and valves, the PCB based fluidic system is implemented. After calibration of flow sensor, the flow rate of the gas also can be measured. The climate test, temperature test, and biocompatibility test showed this idea can be used in insufflators for laparoscopic surgery.
A disposable electrochemical immunosensor system has been developed for the detection of herbicide in aqueous samples. Disposable screen printed carbon electrodes(SPCE) were used as basic electrodes and an enzyme, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), and anti-herbicide antibodies was immobilised on to the working electrode of SPCE by using avidin-biotin coupling reactions. An herbicide-glucose oxidase conjugates have been used for the competitive immunoreaction with sample herbicides. The enzymatic reaction between the conjugated glucose oxidase and glucose added generates hydrogen peroxide, which was reduced by the peroxidase immobilised. The latter process caused an electrical current change, due to direct re-reduction of peroxidase by a direct electron transfer mechanism, which was measured to determine the herbicides in the sample. The optimal operational condition was found to be: $20\;{\mu}gl-1$ deglycosylated avidin loading to the working electrode and working potential +50 mV vs. Ag/AgCl. The total assay time was 15 min after sample addition. The detection limits for herbicides, atrazine and simazine, were found to be 3 ppb and 10 ppb, respectively.

A wireless intraocular (IOP) pressure sensor based on micro electro mechanical system (MEMS) technology is proposed. The proposed IOP sensor uses variable inductance according to the external pressure. The proposed sensor is composed of two flexible membranes: a ferrite bottom part, an inductor, and a capacitor. The inductance of the sensor varies according to the external pressure. The resonance frequency of the sensor is also varied, and this frequency is detected using an external coil. The external coil is designed with an FR-4 printed circuit board. The feasibility of the proposed sensor structure using variable inductance to detect the external pressure is successfully demonstrated.
This research is the development of a distributed tactile sensor using PVDF film far the detection of the contact state. The prototype of the tactile sensor with 8$\times$8 taxels was fabricated using PVDF film and flexible circuitry. In the fabrication procedure, the electrode and the common electrode patterns are attached to the both side of the 28${\mu}m$ thickness PVDF film. The sensor is covered with polyester film for insulation. The signals of a contact pressure to the tactile sensor are sensed and processed in the DSP system in which the signals are digitalized and filtered. And the signals are integrated for taking the force profile. The processed signals of the output of the sensor are visualized to take the shape and force distribution of the contact object in personal computer. The usefulness of the sensor system is verified through the sensing examples.
A new nano-composite carbon ink for the development of disposable dopamine (DA) biosensors based on screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCEs) is introduced. The method developed uses SPCEs coupled with a tyrosinase modified nano-composite carbon ink. The ink was prepared by an “in-house” procedure with reduced graphene oxide (rGO), Pt nanoparticles (PtNP), and carbon materials such as carbon black and graphite. The rGO-PtNP carbon composite ink was used to print the working electrodes of the SPCEs and the reference counter electrodes were printed by using a commercial Ag/AgCl ink. After the construction of nano-composite SPCEs, tyrosinase was immobilized onto the working electrodes by using a biocompatible matrix, chitosan. The composite of nano-materials was characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and the performance characteristics of the sensors were evaluated by using voltammetric and amperometric techniques. The cyclic voltammetry results indicated that the sensors prepared with the rGO-PtNP-carbon composite ink revealed a significant improvement in electro-catalytic activity to DA compared with the results obtained from bare or only PtNP embedded carbon inks. Optimum experimental parameters such as pH and operating potential were evaluated and calibration curves for dopamine were constructed with the results obtained from a series of amperometric detections at −0.1 V vs. Ag/AgCl. The limit of detection was found to be 14 nM in a linear range of 10 nM to 100 µM of DA, and the sensor’s sensitivity was calculated to be 0.4 µAµM−1cm−2.

This study proposes an innovative methodology for developing flexible printed circuit boards (FPCBs) capable of conforming to three-dimensional shapes, meeting the increasing demand for electronic circuits in diverse and complex product designs. By integrating a traditional flat plate-based fabrication process with a subsequent three-dimensional thermal deformation technique, we have successfully demonstrated an FPCB that maintains stable electrical characteristics despite significant shape deformations. Using a modified polyimide substrate along with Ag flake-based conductive ink, we identified optimized process variables that enable substrate thermal deformation at lower temperatures (~130℃) and enhance the stretchability of the conductive ink (ε ~30%). The application of this novel FPCB in a prototype 3D-shaped sensor device, incorporating photosensors and temperature sensors, illustrates its potential for creating multifunctional, shape-adaptable electronic devices. The sensor can detect external light sources and measure ambient temperature, demonstrating stable operation even after transitioning from a planar to a three-dimensional configuration. This research lays the foundation for next-generation FPCBs that can be seamlessly integrated into various products, ushering in a new era of electronic device design and functionality.
The Light Emitting Diode(LED) lighting control system proposed in this thesis is made up of a sensor module, a microcontroller, Bluetooth wireless communication, LED Driver, and LED downlight. The sensor module, comprised of an infrared sensor, an illumination sensor, and a temperature sensor, was designed to one Printed Circuit board(PCB). The system is able to identify the environment information collected by the sensor, and make it possible to control lighting automatically and manually through sensors. In addition, depending on users' conditions, a color temperature can be controlled. CS-1000, a spectroradiometer, was employed to measure the changing values of a color temperature in 8 steps. According to a test, it was found that it was possible to change a color temperature from 3187K of Warm White LED to 5598K of Cool White LED. The Bluetooth based wireless communication technique makes it possible to control more lighting devices than other wireless communication techniques does.
A screw driver is essentially used in assembling machine parts and electronic products such as the printed circuit board with a housing. As the parts to be assembled becomes small and precise, the higher precision of the controling screw driver torque is required. However, because the operator controls the fastening torque by his experience, it must be inexact. Thus the screw driver which can exactly control the fastening torque by a bellows is designed and developed in the study. The bellows is expanded by the inner air pressure and contracted and by the spring operation. The bellows driver is composed of the entrance solenoid valve, the exit solenoid valve and the pressure sensor. The pressure sensor senses the bellows pressure. When the pressure sensor output reaches the setting value, it operates the exit solenoid valve not to deliver further torque by letting the air of the bellows out. Through a series of experiments, the performance is studied and verified.
In this paper, 2D and 3D inspection algorithm for printed solder on PCB is introduced. The aim of inspection is the detection of error such as rich solder poor solder and missing solder. For Inspection, laser distance sensor is used. For 2D inspection, laser image that is created by normalizing laser data between 0 and 255 are used. Reference Image is made using gerber file. Image processing algorithm is used for 2D inspection. By adding thickness of metal stencil to laser image, volume for solder can be calculated and 3D inspection is carried out.
