Catalytic filter is capable of performing shallow bed dust filtration plus a catalytic reaction, promoted by a catalyst deposited in its inner structure. Such a feature may allow potential cost and space reduction in several environmental applications. Dust filtration and halogenated volatile organic compound (1,2-dichlorobenzene) destruction were carried out in a lab-scale reactor. $WO_3-V_2O_5/TiO_2$ supplied by MaGreen, which showed high catalytic acitivity at low temperature, was used as a catalyst. P-84 that can be operated under $250^{\circ}C$ was used as a felt. The catalytic activity and filtration efficiency of catalytic filters were investigated under the operating conditions, including temperature, face velocity, and dust concentration. The catalytic activity of catalytic filter increased with increasing temperature and the amount of catalyst loaded. The test results showed that the filtration efficiency was primarily affected by the face velocity. Pressure drop variations as a function of time were investigated for a variety of conditions. In case of virgin filter, a dramatic decrease in the pulse interval and a slightly increase in the base line pressure drop were observed. A relatively slow pressure drop build-up was recorded for the catalytic filter due to smooth and slippery surface characteristics of nanofiber. The catalytic filter indicated that high filtration efficiency over 99.98% and high catalytic activity over 90% at 1 m/min and $210^{\circ}C$.
The purpose of this study is to predict the pressure drop due to the installation of venturi under diverse operating conditions such as dust concentration, pulse interval and pressure, and filtration velocity using algebraic-linear regression model and use it as an economic data and efficient operating condition for a pulse air jet bag filter. A pilot scale bag filter with a filter a filter size(Ø140 × 850ℓ, 12) was used, and the filters used in the experiment were the polyester filters most commonly used in real industrial sites. The SAS 9.4 program (SAS Institute, USA) was used to predict and to determine the effects of inlet concentration (Ci), pulse interval (Pi) and pressure (Pp), filtration velocity (Vf), presence or absence of venturi, etc. The results are shown below. The variation in pressure drop with or without venturi installation was 38.8 mmAq when venturi is installed and 47.6 mmAq when venturi is not installed, indicating a difference in pressure drop of 8.8 mmAq depending on venturi installation. It is estimated that the efficiency can be improved by about 18.5% if the venturi is installed.
Collection efficiencies and pressure drops for the removal of small particles from dilute liquid suspensions by granular bed filter were calculated using network model. The network model is composed of a number of nodes connected with cylindrical bond and particles are deposited on the bond surface. The collection efficiency of each cylindrical bond was predicted using unit cell model corresponding to the pore volume of cylindrical pore both at the initial and transient states. Deposited particles on the collector surface may act as additional collector and reduce the pore size of the collector. As a result, the collection efficiency was improved and pressure drop increased with deposition. Even though the stochastic nature of network requires a large number of simulation work, the model proposed in this study can be used in investigating collection efficiency and pressure drop.
The purpose of this study is to predict the reflection distance following to the pulsing pressure, total air supplying, filter bag size using numercial analysis techniques and use it as an efficient operation condition and economic data for off-line type pulse air jet bag filter. In this research, filtration area 6 m2 condition, calculate filter resistance coefficient for simulation through the main experiments using coke dust. Ansys fluent V19.0 apply to CFD simulation, and analysis pulsing characteristics about pulsing pressure, filtration velocity and nozzle diameter. The maximum reflecting distance of off-line type pulse air jet bag filter is 1,000 mm regardless of total air supplying at over the 42 L/m2 conditions, that indicates off-line type can extend filter bag length 1,000 mm than on-line type. In order to effective primary and secondary pulsing of off-line type pulse air jet bag filter, over the 5 bar of pulsing pressure and over the 42 L/m2 of total air supplying are needed.

The present study is devoted to the validation of a new method for in line electrokinetic characterisation of deposits on membrane surfaces. This method is based upon simultaneous measurements of transversal streaming potential and permeates flux at constant pressure before and during the deposit formation. Dead-end filtration experiments were conducted with negative flat membranes forming a narrow slit channel, negative hollow fiber membranes and mono-dispersed suspensions of (negatively charged) polystyrene latex and (positively charged) melamine particles at various concentrations. It was observed that the overall streaming potential coefficient increased in absolute value with the deposited latex quantity, whereas it decreased and changed of sign during the filtration of melamine suspensions. By considering a resistance-in-series model, the streaming potential coefficient of the single deposit ($SP_d$) was deduced from the electrokinetic and hydraulic measurements. The independence of $SP_d$ with respect to growth kinetics validates the measurement method and the reliability of the proposed procedure for calculating $SP_d$. It was found that $SP_d$ levelled off much more quickly when filtration was performed through the slit channel. This different behaviour could result from a non-uniform distribution of the deposit thickness along the membrane given that the position of measuring electrodes is different between the two cells.
Microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) processes for removal of particulate materials (i.e., turbidity, microorganisms and viruses) have been used to produce drinking water with higher quality. As membrane filtration technique has become widely applied for drinking water treatment, the importance of membrane integrity test (MIT) has also been increasingly emphasized. The results of pressure decay test (PDT) were presented in the paper to monitor membrane integrity. In this paper the PDT was carried out with deliberately-defected membrane fibers to evaluate the sensitivity of PDT on membrane fiber damage. Variation of pressure decay rate and removal rate were investigated to evaluate the impact of defection (defection ratio) and pore size of membrane. The membrane integrity could be successfully monitored by the PDT. The pressure decay rate varied from $0.002{\sim}0.189kg_f/cm^2hr$ with the initial pressure ranged from 0.2 to $1.0kg_f/cm^2hr$. Higher initial pressure which provided with higher pressure decay rate was preferred to evaluate the defection of membrane fiber. As for the particle removal rate, the Log Removal Rate (LRV) of kaolin solution decreased significantly from 3.78 to 2.31 when one fiber out of 3,200 fibers was cut. The membranes with different pore size were tested to evaluate virus removal efficiency. The virus removal rate of the MF membrane ($0.1{\mu}m$) was about 30% although the poliovirus was smaller than the pore size of the MF membrane, indicating that the removal rate was much lower than Korea Water Works Association (KWWA) certificate LRV of 1.5.

The filtration characteristics of $CYBAGFILTER^{(R)}$ unit with pleated filter bags were evaluated by comparing the performance of the unit with the lower part of cyclone shape with that of the unit with conventional lower part. Results from the test were also compared with those from the previous research with the $CYBAGFILTER^{(R)}$ in which round filter bags were installed. $CYBAGFILTER^{(R)}$ is the unit which combines the centrifugal separation mechanism and the fabric filtration mechanism in a single unit for efficient removal of particulate matters. The pleated filter bags are made of pleated fabric with an extension of the filtration area about 3 times compared with the conventional round filter bags. The results from the test using pleated filter bags showed an overall collection efficiency of over 99.9% regardless of the shape of lower part installed. When the lower part of cyclone shape was installed, the filter cleaning interval was over 2 times longer compared with that when the conventional lower part was installed. At the same conditions of filtration velocity and filter pressure drop, the $CYBAGFILTER^{(R)}$ with the lower part of cyclone shape, in which the pleated filter bags are installed, can be operated with a flow rate of round 3 times higher than that with conventional round filter bags.
Displayed result that handle particle contaminant and hydrospace organism included a number of ballast that is happened in ship using automatic back washing filter. Reason that removes first contaminant that is included in number of ballast is that heighten processing effectof after processing processof the filter. Another advantage is to drop off the solids with controlling revolution of drum screen in pretreatment filtration process. The fact that it is easy to attach and detach a several type of screen for getting the expected water quality is another advantage. Filter rotation speed of filtration filter could be expose by 35mmHg more than 60 rpm and filter consecutively filtration pressure is 40.5mmHg in 20 rpm and 40 rpm are 36.6mmHg. Filtration system removal aquatic organism over $70{\mu}min$ ballast water. This study shows that the filtration treatment system has a potential for the treatment of ballast water.
Many commercial air purifiers currently have deployed granular activated carbon (GAC) filters for removing volatile organic compounds in the indoor air. GACs are generally used to remove gaseous contaminants in the air through adsorption by the inner surfaces of pores. In addition, airborne particles can be also filtered by the surface adsorption of the GACs, which can improve the life-time of the particulate filters. In this study, the filtration efficiency of GACs to ultrafine particles through surface adsorption was investigated at different volume flow rates by deploying a continuous particle filtration system. The polydisperse sodium chloride (NaCl) particles were generated by a set of an atomizer and a diffusion dryer, and then mixed with particle-free air at different volume flow rates. The penetration of ultrafine particles and pressure drop for each experimental condition were measured to figure out the effect of the volume flow rate on the surface adsoprtion of the GACs to particles, ~ 2 mm. The particle filtration efficiency of the GACs decreased as the volume flow rate increased from 4 to 14 lpm. However, the 5 times thicker GAC filter layer decreased the penetration of ultraparticles than a preious study. The filtration efficiency of the single granule was also higher than the previous result in the literature with smaller granule filter materials.

Small scale paint overspray booths are being operated nationwidely, for repair of passenger car body parts. paint aerosols are emitted from the paint overspray booth in operations. In paint overspray booth operations without ventilation system and air pollutants collection unit, it may land on nearby equipment. In this study a removal of sticky paint aerosol for application of the small-scale overspray paint booth. it's cause the surface of filter bag from generated sticky paint aerosol. To remove adhesion of paint aerosol the agglomerating agents are injected and mixed with sticky paint aerosols prior to reach the filter bag. The paint spray rate was set as $10{\pm}5g/min$ from air-atomized spray guns in the spray booth, injection rate of agglomerating was $10{\pm}5g/min$ in the mixing chamber. The filtration velocity including air pollutants varied from 0.2 m/min to 0.4 m/min. Bag cleaning air pressure was set as $5.0kg_f/min$ for detaching dust cake from surface of filter bag. Bag cleaning interval at the filtration velocity of 0.2 m/min was around 3 times longer than that of the 0.4 m/min. The residual pressure drop maintained highest value at the highest filtration velocity. Fractional efficiency of 99.952%~99.971% was possible to maintain for the particle size of 2.5 microns. Total collection efficiency at the filtration velocity of 0.2 m/min was 99.42%. During this study we could confirm high collection efficiency and long cleaning intervals for the test with filtration velocity of 0.2 m/min indicating an optimal value for the given dimensions of the test unit and test operating conditions.
