  • This research is about effects of obesity adults participating in 12weeks of boxing diets program on weight loss, blood pressure and blood sugar improvements. The exercise program was conducted three times a week with a maximum heart rate of 50 to 65 percent for first to forth weeks and 65 to 85 percent for fifth to twelfth. The study included 59 obese people in their 20s and 50s, with a BMI of 25kg/m2 or higher, blood pressure of 140/90mmHg, and high blood pressure and diabetes patients of 125 mg/dl per fasting blood sugar. The following results were obtained by observing the results before and after the boxing exercise program. High blood pressure, diabetes, high blood pressure + diabetes after 12 weeks showed significant weight, BMI and body fat reduction, as well as significant decrease in blood pressure and fasting blood sugar. Consequently, through this study, obese adults can lower their weight, blood pressure, and blasting fasting blood sugar through a 12-week high-strength boxing exercise program and it is believed to help improve and prevent obesity, cardiovascular disease and metabolic diseases.

  • The inlet pressure build-up at the leading edge of bearings and its effects on the static performances are investigated theoretically. The performance analyses of air-lubricated tilting pad bearings are carried out considering the inlet pressure which is obtained by means of momentum conservation method. The results show that inlet pressure is above atmosphere pressure in front of leading edge of tilting pad bearing and there is a significant influence of the inlet pressure on the performance of bearings.

  • The effects of angular misalignment, coning and the temperature difference between the primary seal ring and the seal seat on the pressure distribution in mechanical face seals are analyzed. The modified Reynolds equation for the temperature dependent viscosity was solved by a finite difference approximation and Gauss-Seidel method. It is shown that the amplitude of pressure is significantly affected by the misalignment of the seals and a large temperature difference between the rotor and the stator.

  • The present study has numerically investigated the effects of fuel-side dilution and pressure on flame structure and extinction scalar dissipation rate of turbulent syngas nonpremixedd flames. Numerical results indicate that for highly diluted case, peak temperature is decreased and stoichiometric mixture fraction is increased. By decreasing the pressure and the nitrgen dilution levelcreased, the extinction scalar dissipation rate is increased.

  • One-dimensional Consolidation tests with pore pressure measurement were caried in the ANTE-US consolidometer in order to investigate the effects of loading conditions on consolidation behavior of the soft clay. Undisturbed specimens of a sensitive clay were loaded in load-increment ratioes 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0, and load increment duration of 1, 6, 12, 24 and 48 hours with the application of 40 psi of back pressure. There is no significant effect of load-increment ratio on compression-pressure relationship, but the test with one-hour load increment duration doesn't represent the same results of the standard consolidation test in the sensitive clay.

  • Purpose: This paper is to analyze motivation and behavior of alcohol use of employees, and effects of social pressure on alcohol use of employees. Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed with 341 employees in Industrial Complex. Data were collected from June 26, 2007 to July 11, 2007. Collected data were analysed through Frequency, ANOVA, One-way ANOVA test. Result: Social motivation showed the highest mean among motivation of alcohol use, man showed higher mean than woman on confirmity motivation and affirmation motivation. Dangerous alcohol use showed the highest mean among behavior of alcohol use, man showed higher mean than woman on behavior of alcohol use. Effects of peer showed higher mean than effects of family, generally the more high effects of peer is, the more higher confirmity motivation, dangerous and dependent alcohol use showed. Conclusion: Therefore, to decrease alcohol use of employees must be prepared an alternatives to change drinking culture and recognition, and developed for working man and individual workplaces.

  • A two-dimensional (2D) steady state numerical model of concentration polarisation (CP) phenomena in a membrane channel has been developed using the commercially available computational fluid dynamics (CFD) package CFX (Ansys, Inc., USA). The model incorporates the transmembrane pressure (TMP), axially variable permeate flux, variable diffusivity and viscosity, and osmotic pressure effects. The model has been verified against several benchmark analytical and empirical solutions from the membrane literature. Additionally, the model is able to predict the rejection of an arbitrary solute by the membrane using a pore model, given some basic knowledge of the geometry of the solute molecule or particle, and the membrane pore geometry. This allows for predictive design of membrane systems without experimental determination of the membrane rejection for the specified operating conditions. A demonstration of the model is presented against experimental results for two uncharged test compounds (sucrose and PEG1000) from the literature. The model will be extended to incorporate charge effects, transient simulations, three-dimensional (3D) geometry and turbulent effects in future work.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of education about pressure ulcer classification and incontinence-associated dermatitis on knowledge and self-efficacy in pressure ulcer among nurses. Methods: One group pretest-posttest design was used. Participants were 41 nurses in a tertiary hospital in Seoul. A 90 minutes lecture was delivered. The self-reported-questionnaire on knowledge and self-efficacy and photograph test for knowledge were done at pre- and post-education. Results: After education, there was significant increase in the score of knowledge measured by questionnaire (mean 1.76, p<.001), in the score of knowledge measured by photographs (mean 2.00, p<.001) and in the score of self-efficacy (mean 5.17, p<.001). Conclusion: This study showed that knowledge and self-efficacy in pressure ulcer were improved by the education about pressure ulcer classification and incontinence-associated dermatitis. This program may be used for enhancing nurses' abilities of caring pressure ulcer.

  • In this paper, the contact pressure of the wafer and polishing pad for final polishing process for 300 mm-wafer were investigated through numerical analysis using FEM tool, ANSYS. The distribution of the contact pressure is one of main parameters which affects on the flatness and surface roughness of polished wafers. Two types of polishing head, a hard type head with ceramic disk and a soft type head with air bag were considered. The effects of the deformation and initial shape of table on the contact pressure were also examined. Both heads and tables were modeled as 3D finite element model from solid model, and the material properties of polishing pads and rubber plate for the air-bag head were obtained from tensile tests. The contact pressure deviation on wafer surface was smaller with air bag head than hard type head even when the table had form errors such as convex or concave. From this 3D analysis, it could be concluded that the air-bag head has better uniformity of the contact pressure on wafer. Also, the effects of inner diameter of air bag and radial clearance between wafer and retainer were investigated as view point of contact pressure concentration on the edge of wafer.

  • The proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell system consisting of stack and balance of plant (BOP) was modeled in a MATLAB/Simulink environment. High-pressure operating (compressor type) and low-pressure operating (air blower type) fuel cell systems were considered. The effects of two main operating parameters (humidity and the pressure of the supplied gas) on the power distribution characteristics of BOP and the net system efficiency of the two systems mentioned above were compared and discussed. The simulation determines an optimum condition regarding parameters such as the cathode air pressure and the relative humidity for maximum net system efficiency for the operating fuel cell systems. This study contributes to get a basic insight into the fuel cell stack and BOP component sizing. Further research using muliobject variable optimization packages and the approach developed by this study can effectively contribute to an operating strategy for the practical use of fuel cell systems for vehicles.
