금형연마작업을 위한 5축 CAM 시스템 (A five-axis CAM system for free-surface grinding)

  • In manufacturing press die with free surface, grinding operation is an important post process for surface finish and dimensional accuracy. With the advancement of NC technology. surface grinding operation is increasingly replaced by the gantry type manipulator. As the mechanics for grinding operation is different from machining operation, conventional CAM system for machining operation is hard to apply. In this. paper, we develop a five-axis CAM system by which an efficient gantry trajectory can be planned and verified. The developed system consists of four conceptual modules; namely CAD, PROCESS. CAM, and ANALYSIS. In the CAD module, the machined surface is represented by CL-data or surface modeler, and process parameters are specified by the PROCESS module. Then, the CAM module generates a series of grinding paths based on the grinding mechanics together with process databases for tool spaces and grinding conditions. The generated paths are verified via ANALYSIS module. Validation via real experiments is left for further study.

  • This paper presents an experiment which examines eye movement characteristics of novice and experienced workers in the press operation. Signficant difference between the novice and the experienced workers was observed in eye fixation time, eye movement patterns, hand duration time, and hand movement time. The results could be used to set up a guide to train the novice workers and to determine how long the novice should be trained.

  • A manipulator with 3 degrees of freedom is developed to automate operation of 60 ton pressing process. The pneumatically actuated manipulator is controlled by a programmable controller. Four seconds of cycle time which is faster than manual operation is achieved. Though the flexible feed mechanism, the system can accammodate any size of workpieces between 80*80 and 200*200 under 1 kg of weight.

  • To apply induction hardening method to a press die having 3-D free surface, the induction hardening tool moves on a press die above 1~2mm gap with constant velocity. Since the induction hardening process requires its own hardening path for each die, a direct teaching method which generates working path directly guided by operators is more suitable than an offline method using CAD/CAM data.   • Repetition Strain Injury (RSI) is usually caused or aggravated by poor work processes and unsuitable working conditions - that involve repetitive or forceful movements or the maintenance of constrained or awkward postures. The condition is characterized by discomfort and persistent pain. There are three essential steps to eliminate or control hazards In workplace. Case and Demographic Characteristics for Work-related Injuries and illnesses Involving Days Away From Work, 2002. U.S' was examined. Causes of press operators' RSI were carpal tunnel syndrome(CTS), tendonitis, low back pain, and occupational stress. Recommendations for improvement of productivity are redesign of working conditions, exercise, prevent of RSI and avoiding stress.

  • The torsion bar, which is a steering torque sensor, is mounted between the steering pinion and the input shaft in the IPA(input pinion assembly). Accurate torque measurement is important to improve the sense of operation, and the straightness of the torsion bar can affect torque measurement. In this study, the amount of bending was measured and the exact shape was analyzed regarding the bending phenomenon in the press-fitting process for torsion bars. The effect of alignment error was analyzed through finite element forming analysis. Process data analysis was conducted for the double-end press fit model. If there is an alignment error of about 10% of the serration tooth height, the indentation load is reduced by about 10%. If there is an alignment error, the torsion bar is rotated.

  • Railway transport of goods and passengers is effective in terms of energy conservation and travel time savings. Safety and ride quality have become important issues as train speeds have increased. Due to increased speeds, minor damage to railway structures and abnormal interactions between trains and structures have given rise to increasingly serious accidents. Therefore, structural health and operational conditions must be monitored continuously in all service environments. Currently, various health and operation management systems are being developed and these are reducing both maintenance frequency and costs associated with disassembly. In this review, major damage and malfunctions and their locations are first analyzed based on numerous references. Then advanced train health and operation management technologies are classified into wayside detection methods and advanced integrated sensor methods and their operating principle and functions are reviewed and analyzed.

  • The printing industry is getting more digitalized and integration. It has enabled the interactive information and networking from Pre-Press, Press, to the Post-Press. These are efficient management and the improved process and productivity are getting more important. Such trends improved in the functionality and automation. This paper tries to find out how technology for CIP3/4 -based process may be applied and resolved. Such subject includes the domestic and international cases regarding each manufacturer's CIP3/4 technology types. Another purpose is to emphasize on the needs to establish the environment. Under this environment, it is possible to integrate network in exchangeable form through JDF standard format after CIP3/4. Based on the data from this study, it is expected to collect further substantial data which is related to the domestic printing company's CIP 4 operation. It will be also possible to perform subsequent studies on the proper variables of the market segment. CIP4 stands for "International Cooperation for Integration of Prepress, Press and Post-press, it is an association of around forty international companies, mostly manufacturers of prepress, press and post-press, as well as suppliers and users. In this paper, we studied on the acting application of CIP4 work flow.

간이 파인 블랭킹 금형의 개발을 통한 범용 유압 프레스에서의 원형 정밀진단 가공성 연구 (Development of Fine Blanking Die with Fluid Chamber and its Application to Procuction of Circular Blanks in a Hydraulic Press)

  • This paper is concered on the development of low-cost fine blanking die with two fluid chambers of which the pressure can be controlled by a hydraulic unit and its application to producting circular blanks in a conventional hydraulic press, not in a special triple-action press usually adopte in fine blanking operation. Four important working parameters affecting on the precision accuracy of products such as existence and position of Vee-ring, stripping force and counter punching force are primarily considered for experiments. Finite element analysis by suing ABAQUA software is approxi- mately made for blanking of circular specimen with a flat stripper plate and then compared with experimental measurements. The the theoretical prediction of camber height which represents deflection of a dish-shaped specimen after blanking seems to give a qualitatively good agreement. It is shown through experiments the the camber height decreases with decreasing stripping force and also with increasing counter punching force, but particularly depending on the latter much more than the former.

  • Fine blanking is a process of press shearing which makes it possible to produce the thick sheet metal of the finished surface and the close dimensional accuracy over the whole material thickness in the single blanking operation. In this paper, a plate holder of automotive seat recliner is manufactured by FCF(Flow Control Forming) method using the conventional mechanical press instead of the fine blanking press. Main processes for manufacturing of the plate holder by FCF method are embossing, half blanking and trimming processes. Optimal clearance, stripper force and counter force to increase the dimensional accuracy of the plate holder have been investigated by FE-analysis. As a result of FE-analysis, the clearance for both embossing and half blanking processes was -2%t and the forces of stripper and counter were 25ton and 15ton, respectively. After manufacturing the plate holder by FCF method, the measured dimensional characteristics have been compared with the required specifications as the final product. Although the dimensional accuracy of the plate holder manufactured by FCF method was a little inferior to that by fine blanking process, it was satisfactory in a general sense.
