Effective bridge maintenance reduces bridge operation costs and extends its service life. The possibility of storing bridge life-cycle data in a 3D parametric model of the bridge through Bridge Information Modeling (BrIM) provides new opportunities to enhance current practices of bridge maintenance management. This study develops a Decision Support System (DSS), namely BrDSS, which employs BrIM and an efficient optimization model for bridge maintenance planning. The BrIM model in BrDSS extracts basic data of elements required for the optimization process and visualizes the inspection data and the optimization results to the user to help in decision makings. In the optimization module of the DSS, the specifically formulated Genetic Algorithm (GA) eliminates the chances of producing infeasible solutions for faster convergence. The practicality of the presented DSS was explored by utilizing the DSS in the maintenance planning of a bridge under operation in the southwest of Iran.
A framework for structural health monitoring (SHM) systems is presented utilizing a recent 3.5 generation mobile telecommunication technology, HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access). It may be effectively applied to monitoring bridges, cut-slopes, and other facilities located in rural areas where the conventional Internet service is not readily available, since HSDPA is currently commercialized in 86 countries to make the Internet access possible in anywhere the mobile phone service is available. The proposed SHM framework is also incorporating remote desktop software to have remote control/operation of the SHM systems. The feasibility of the proposed framework has been demonstrated by field tests on a highway bridge in operation. One can expect that fast advances in the mobile telecommunication technology will further enhance the performance of the SHM network using the proposed framework for bridges and other facilities located in remote areas without the conventional wired Internet service.

The ceramic contained paint was made to replace the lead sinker for gill-net with coated lead sinker. The ceramic contained paints were coated in various conditions on the lead sinker with 19g of weight and the optimal coating condition was studied. The adaptability of the coated lead sinker was checked through the anti durability test and fishing operation with gill-net. The case of "Main material 70 wt% + Urethane thinner 30 wt% (Main material 700 $m{\ell}$ + Thinner 300 $m{\ell}$)" showed the best in the coating characteristics depending on the combination ratio of the ceramic paint contained. The coated lead sinker dried at $100^{\circ}C$ inside oven was superior to the drying in the room temperature in its surface glossiness and anti durability and faster drying time than the one dried in normal temperature. The quadruple layers of coating on lead sinker with 4 times of dipping and drying application showed the super anti durability in the coating characteristics depending on the frequency of dipping. When press is applied to the coated lead sinker, the coated layer is not detached from the sinker. In addition, the coated lead sinker was not damaged or peeled at the fishing operation about 2 months in various depths within 50m and by the materials at the bottom (sand, stone and gravel stone) and it was in good condition.
The degradation of alachlor has been investigated using sonolysis (US), photocatalysis (UV) and sonophotocatalysis (US/UV) using three photocatalyst viz. $TiO_2$ (mixture of anatase and rutile), $TiO_2$ (anatase) and ZnO. The effect of photocatalyst loading on the extent of degradation of alachlor has been investigated by varying $TiO_2$ (both types) loading over the range of 0.01 g/L to 0.1 g/L and ZnO loading over the range of 0.05 g/L to 0.3 g/L. The optimum loading of the catalyst was found to be dependent on the type of operation i.e., photocatalysis alone or the combined operation of sonolysis and photocatalysis. All the combined processes gave complete degradation of alachlor with maximum rate of degradation being obtained in the case of sonophotocatalytic process also showing synergistic effect at optimized loading of photocatalyst. About 50% to 60% reduction in TOC has been obtained using the combined process of sonophotocatalysis depending on the operating conditions. The alachlor degradation fitted first order kinetics for all the processes under investigation. It has been observed that the $TiO_2$ (mixtrure of anatase and rutile) is the most active photocatalyst among the three photocatalysts studied in the current work. The effect of addition of radical enhancers and scavengers on sonophotocatalytic degradation of alachlor has been investigated in order to decipher the controlling mechanism. The alachlor degradation products have been identified using LC-MS method.
The characterization of treatment performance with respect to mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) concentration enables greater control over system performance and contaminant removal efficiency. Hybrid membrane bioreactors (HMBRs) have yet to be well characterized in this regard, particularly in the context of greywater treatment. The aim of this study, therefore, was to determine the optimal MLSS concentration for a decentralized HMBR greywater reclamation system under typical loading conditions. Treatment performance was measured at MLSS concentrations ranging from 1000 to 4000 mg/L. The treated effluent was characterized in terms of biochemical oxygen demand ($BOD_5$), chemical oxygen demand (COD), turbidity, ammonia ($NH_3$), total phosphorus (TP), total kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN), and total nitrogen (TN). An MLSS concentration ranging from 3000 to 4000 mg/L yielded optimal results, with $BOD_5$, COD, turbidity, $NH_3$, TP, TKN, and TN removals reaching 99.2%, 97.8%, 99.8%, 99.9%, 97.9%, 95.1%, and 44.8%, respectively. The corresponding food-to-microorganism ratio during these trials was approximately 0.23 to 0.28. Operation at an MLSS concentration of 1000 mg/L resulted in an irrecoverable loss of floc, and contaminant residuals exceeded typical guideline values for reuse in non-potable water applications. Therefore, it is suggested that operation at or below this threshold be avoided.

A photovoltaic powered ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis system was tested with a number of natural groundwaters in Australia. The objective of this study was to compare system performance at six remote field locations by assessing the impact of water composition and fluctuating energy on inorganic contaminant removal using a BW30-4040 membrane. Solar irradiance directly affected pressure and flow. Groundwater characteristics (including TDS, salts, heavy metals, and pH), impacted other performance parameters such as retention, specific energy consumption and flux. During continual system operation, retention of ions such as $Ca^{2+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$ was high (> 95%) with each groundwater which can be attributed to steric exclusion. The retention of smaller ions such as $NO_3{^-}$ was affected by weather conditions and groundwater composition, as convection/diffusion dominate retention. When solar irradiance was insufficient or fluctuations too great for system operation, performance deteriorated and retention dropped significantly (< 30% at Ti Tree). Groundwater pH affected flux and retention of smaller ions ($NO_3{^-}$ and $F^-$) because charge repulsion increases with pH. The results highlight variations in system performance (ion retention, flux, specific energy consumption) with real solar irradiance, groundwater composition, and pH conditions.
With an annual growth rate of about 30%, wind energy systems, such as wind turbines, represent one of the fastest growing renewable energy technologies. Continuous structural health monitoring of wind turbines can help improving structural reliability and facilitating optimal decisions with respect to maintenance and operation at minimum associated life-cycle costs. This paper presents an integrated monitoring system that is designed to support structural assessment and life-cycle management of wind turbines. The monitoring system systematically integrates a wide variety of hardware and software modules, including sensors and computer systems for automated data acquisition, data analysis and data archival, a multiagent-based system for self-diagnosis of sensor malfunctions, a model updating and damage detection framework for structural assessment, and a management module for monitoring the structural condition and the operational efficiency of the wind turbine. The monitoring system has been installed on a 500 kW wind turbine located in Germany. Since its initial deployment in 2009, the system automatically collects and processes structural, environmental, and operational wind turbine data. The results demonstrate the potential of the proposed approach not only to ensure continuous safety of the structures, but also to enable cost-efficient maintenance and operation of wind turbines.

This paper describes a research work of developing a computer-aided design of lead frame semicon-ductor with piercing operation which is very precise for progressive working. An approach to the sys-tem is based on to knowledge-based rules. Knowledge for the system is formulated from plasticity theories experimental results and the empirical knowledge of field experts. This system has been writ-ten using AutoLISP to AutoCAD on a personal computer and is composed of three main modules which are input and shape treatment production feasibility check and strip-layout module. Based on the knowledge-based rules the system is designed by considering several factors such as material and thickness of product complexities of blank geometry and punch profile, and availability of press. Also strip-layout drawing generated by piercing operation according to punch profiles considered V-notch dimple. pad chamfer spank cavity punch camber and cross bow of lead frame is displayed in graphic forms. This system can be used by a novice who may not have any knowledge of tool design and will invrease efficiencies to the designer in this field.
Distributed energy resources (DERs) are essential for coping with growing multiple energy demands. A microgrid (MG) is a small-scale version of the power system which makes possible the integration of DERs as well as achieving maximum demand-side management utilization. Hence, this study focuses on the analysis of optimal power dispatch considering economic aspects in a multi-carrier microgrid (MCMG) with price-responsive loads. This paper proposes a novel time-based demand-side management in order to reshape the load curve, as well as preventing the excessive use of energy in peak hours. In conventional studies, energy consumption is optimized from the perspective of each infrastructure user without considering the interactions. Here, the interaction of energy system infrastructures is considered in the presence of energy storage systems (ESSs), small-scale energy resources (SSERs), and responsive loads. Simulations are performed using GAMS (General Algebraic modeling system) to model MCMG, which are connected to the electricity, natural gas, and district heat networks for supplying multiple energy demands. Results show that the simultaneous operation of various energy carriers, as well as utilization of price-responsive loads, lead to better MCMG performance and decrease operating costs for smart distribution grids. This model is examined on a typical MCMG, and the effectiveness of the proposed model is proven.
In order to analyze the static and dynamic structural characteristics of the Obermeyer gate under overflow conditions, the force characteristics and vibration characteristics of the shield plate structure are studied based on the fluid-solid coupling theory. In this paper, the effects of the flow rate, airbag pressure and overflow water level on the structural performance of shield plate of air shield dam are explored through the method of controlling variables. The results show that the maximum equivalent stress and total deformation of the shield plate decrease first and then increase with the flow velocity. In addition, they are positively correlated with the airbag pressure. What's more, we find that the maximum equivalent stress of the shield plate decreases first and then increases with the overflow water level, and the total deformation of the shield plate decreases with the overflow water level. What's more importantly, the natural frequency of the shield structure of the Obermeyer gate is concentrated at 50 Hz and 100 Hz, so there is still the possibility of resonance. Once the resonance occurs, the free edge of the shield vibrates back and forth. This work may provide a theoretical reference for the safe and stable operation of the shield of the Obermeyer gate.
