The press bulging process is very useful and productive method to produce round-type mechanical components which have not been able to be manufactured because of limitation of the conventional press technology. The application of the press bulging process has expanded very quickly in the hydraulic and electronic industry and more recently it has been used to produce other mechanical parts such as the automobile and shipping parts. This expanding application also has brought some unsolved problems and leads many researchers to put their effort into the die design of the press bulging process. In this study, to obtain the optimum die shape for the press bulging process, various process parameters have been considered such as corner radius, bulging height, pressing length, and forming load, etc. The main interest of this paper is to verify the press bulging process which has more than 4.0 in height-length ratio. From this aspect, Finite Element analysis shows great ability to simulate the precise deformation process and gives us manufacturing database. Consideration of strain, stress, and strain-rate for the various cases has been also taken to keep the forming load within a particular range.
Press machine has advantages over other manufacturing machine which can produce large quantities of products in short time so it is widely used in lots of industrial sectors. To obtain the vehicle's weight lightening and rigidity of the body-frame by applying 'Hot stamping' technique is increasing in the automotive field. In this paper, to improve the irregular vibration arose by 800Ton hot stamping press, the research was continued. Bed, slide and main frame are the key part of working precision, so perform structural analysis was conducted, and based on the analyzing results, structural changes were done on the parts where structural deformation occurred.

We propose an analysis model for simulating the detailed procedure of pore closing in open die forging of shafts. In the analysis model, an artificial symmetric plane is used, on which initial pores are located to be traced. The analysis model is employed to carry out three-dimensional simulation of pore closing in shaft free forging by both conventional free forging press and radial forging machine. With this result, two typical types of free forging equipment for manufacture of shafts are compared in detail. It has shown that the radial forging machine is much superior to the conventional open die forging press especially in pore closing under high hydrostatic pressure with sound strain.
Process design is carried out for a press forming of a CTBA in the rear suspension assembly based on the result of the finite element analysis. The analysis simulates the two-stage stamping process with the initial design and it fully reveals the unfavorable mechanism which develops inferiorities during forming. In this paper, a new design guideline is proposed to modify the process and tool shapes for a single-stage forming process. With the improved tool design, prototypes are fabricated after several try-out processes. Results of the durability tests show that the design requirement of the part is satisfied and the effective weight reduction is achieved.
In this study, design methodology to determine optimal shape of the anvil in sizing press process has been proposed to minimize crop length of the AISI 1010 slab in horizontal rolling after width reduction. Shape of anvil were selected to 12 cases by design of experiment, and the dog-bone shapes and the crop length were determined by FE-analysis. Also, the anvil shape, which has minimum crop length, were determined by artificial neural network(ANN). As a result of FE-analysis, it can be seen that the crop length was increased with increasing center thickness in the dog-bone shape after width reduction. The anvil shape which has minimum crop length, was estimated to ${\theta}_{1}=21^{\circ}{\theta}_{2}=14^{\circ}$ by FE-analysis and ANN.
This paper aims at calculating optimum design dimensions to minimize the weight satisfied strain and stress intensity of the frame while loading maximum weight into a mechanical press in the static condition. Analysis of the frame was carried out by using the FEM, then the optimum condition was obtained by using these data. As modeling in the finite element analysis has great impact on the reliablity of analysis results, the analyzed object was selected a 150-ton mechanical press of J Company, the part little affected to structural rigidity was simplified, the load condition was considered in the only maximum load, the boundary condition was used by giving symmetric displacement due to symmetric boundary condition, the finite element was applied a linear membrane element. An intermediate processor program applied the normal ANSYS to analyze finite elements was developed, and the design sensitivity was calculated. This program was applied to the optimum design.
The objective of the present paper is to evaluate the effect of the evolution of contact surface profile by fretting wear on the contact stress distribution and fatigue crack initiation site of press-fitted shaft by means of an analytical method based on experimental data. A finite element analysis was performed to analyze the stress states of press-fitted shaft, considering the worn contact surface profiles of shaft. The evolutions of contact stress as wearing of contact surface were analyzed by finite element analysis and fatigue crack nucleation sites were evaluated by fretting fatigue damage parameter (FFDP) md multiaxial fatigue criteria. It is found that the stress concentration of a contact edge in press-fitted sha손 decreases rapidly at the initial stage of total fatigue life, and its location shifts from the contact edge to the inside due to fretting wear as increasing of fatigue cycles. Thus the transition of crack nucleation position in press-fitted shaft is mainly caused by stress change of a contact edge due to the evolution of contact surface profile by fretting wear. Therefore, it is suggested that the nucleation of multiple cracks on fretted surface of press fits is strongly related to the evolution of surface profile at the initial stage of total fatigue life.

A press shoe is an element of a machine for squeezing water from wood pulp in the field of manufacturing paper. This is used to compress the pulp enveloped by felt sheet with a large roller. The squeezing force is made by hydraulic pressure. The press shoe has a mechanism similar to a partial hydrostatic bearing. The pressure profile between press shoe and roller affects their squeezing ability, and partial peak pressure can tear the wet pulp. The curvature of the surface of press shoe varies to reduce the peak pressure and increase the mean pressure simultaneously. Therefore, the prediction of pressure distribution considering partially changed curvature of hydrostatic bearing is very important for designing the press shoe. In this study, the difference formulation of Reynolds' equation for partial hydrostatic bearing is by direct numerical method and a computer program to calculate the pressure distribution is developed. We investigate the effect of partially changed curvature of bearing surface on the pressure distribution. Other design parameter for hydrostatic bearing such as depth of pocket and relative velocity are also studied.

The objectives of this paper are to develop a finite element analysis model to analyze press-fitted and bending load conditions in a press-fitted assembly, and propose a hub shape optimization method to minimize contact pressure near the shaft contact edge. Numerical asymmetric-axisymmetric finite element models have been developed to predict contact stress on press-fitted shafts. The global optimization method, genetic algorithm, local optimization method, and sequential quadratic programming were applied to a press-fitted assembly to optimize the hub contact edge geometry. The results showed that the maximum contact pressure with the optimized hub shape decreased more than 60 % compared to conventional hubs and the maximum contact stress affecting fatigue life was reduced about 47 %. Hub shape optimization can be useful to increase the load capability of press fits in terms of wear and fatigue behavior.
