Intermediate moisture-apple snail products were prepared by adding glycerol, sorbitol, kiwi, or pineapple(2% or 5% w/w), as tenderizers, and by drying at $4^{\circ}C$ for 24 hr. The effects of the tenderizers on textural and sensory properties of the apple snail products at intermediate moisture levels were investigated. Moisture content and water activity of the products were ranged from 26.25 to 34.48% and from 0.83 to 0.87, respectively. The addition of glycerol significantly lowered water activity of apple snail samples compared to control prepared without tenderizers. On the other hand, significant increases in moisture content and water activity were observed in apple snail samples treated with kiwi or pineapple(p<0.05). All apple snail samples treated with tenderizers showed a lower shear force than did the control. Apple snail samples treated with 5%(v/v) glycerol showed a higher equilibrium moisture content than did the other samples. SDS-PAGE indicated that proteolytic enzymes in kiwi and pineapple clearly changed the structure of the myosin heavy chain and actin filaments of myofibrillar protein in apple snail samples. Intermediate moisture apple snail samples treated with tenderizers showed significantly improved overall sensory characteristics. The highest overall acceptability was obtained from apple snail samples treated with 5% pineapple, while the lowest overall acceptability was noted in the control sample. This study demonstrates that an acceptable apple snail, with intermediate moisture content, may be produced by using tenderizers at appropriate concentrations.

To assess effects of cold treatment on pupation and emergence of the mulberry longicorn beetle, Apriona germari, the larvae, which ceased feeding, were exposed to three different temperature regimes (2.5, 5 and 7.5$^{\circ}C$) and preservation periods (50, 80, and l10 days). The results indicated that pupation and emergence rates of A. germari were highest at $7.5^{\circ}C$ for 110 days, 40.7% and 37.0%, respectively, demonstrating that the effect of cold treatment on metamorphosis was approximately 3 to 4 fold stronger than that of nontreatment.

The current environmental issue is how a dwelling adapts into a given climate in which the design is applied by ecology without damaging the natural environment. In another word, the main issue in the twenty first century will be how we meet the human needs to dwellings applied by the residential environment. Therefore, we have to provide a hospitable place for residents' mental and physical health through "Green Design," emerging as the critical design of urban collective dwellings. Based on these conceptions, the purpose of this study is to suggest the way of designing the urban collective dwelling applied by ecology, proffering wealthy life style to residents with the preservation of natural environment as applying an ecological concept into the design of collective dwellings that represent a contemporary housing type for urban residents. In order to design the urban collective dwelling applied by ecology, this study introduces the outdoor design in friendly surroundings, the collective construct of a delightful housing, and the organic connection between inside and outside rooms.

In this study, BIM through the analysis of information using the structures for the management of waste, energy and physical data collected by Mapping it can effectively plan resources for recycling were analyzed.

Today the tastes of consumers change rapidly and the kinds of the products become diverse. There- fore the product life cycle becomes shorter and shorter. Moreover the save of resources and the recycling for the environmental preservation are the essential theme. On this the necessary information for the product development increases enormously. For the right use of the information the design process should be supported by the proper design tool. For this the 'design catalogue system for recycling' is suggested here. This system consists of four parts. that is, 'the existing automobile system database', 'welting principle database', 'Assessment system of the ease of disassembly' and 'one's own product development ratabase'. By the use of this system the product development period could be reduced about 30% drastically.

The ovarian follicles develop initially from primordial follicles. The majority of ovarian primordial follicles are maintained quiescently as a reserve for the reproductive life span. Only a few of them are activated and develop to an advanced follicular stage. The maintenance of dormancy and activation of primordial follicles are controlled by coordinated actions of a suppressor/activator with close communications with somatic cells and intra-oocyte signaling pathways. Many growth factors and signaling pathways have been identified and the transforming growth factor-beta superfamily plays important roles in early folliculogenesis. However, the mechanism of maintaining the dormancy and survival of primordial follicles has remained unknown for decades. Recently, since the first finding that all primordial follicles are activated prematurely in mice deficient forkhead box O3a, phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase/phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) signaling pathway was reported to be important in the regulation of dormancy and initial follicular activation. With these informations on early folliculogenesis, clinical application can be expected such as in vitro maturation of immature oocytes or in vitro activation of follicles by PTEN inhibitor in cryopreserved ovarian cortical tissues for fertility preservation.

1.The domestic waste generated in Iksan city was 177 tons a day last year. 27 tons of that were recycled daily. Due to increased awareness the recycling rate also increased. 2. It is preferred to get continuous publicity and to enforce the program steadily to activate exchange centers and places like a flea market for reusable things, which will lead to increase the life-span of the current designated landfill site. 3. Because burying food waste in underground will be prohibited from year 2005, the reutilization of food waste by feeding domestic animals like ducks and making artificial fertilizer are preferred. 4. The case of Iksan city is expected to be a model to other cities by establishing a display room to accommodate its detail work demonstration, displaying modeled utilization items and exchange center, incinerator, duck ranch, lawn ground, etc. for making a city as an environmental preservation city model.

Transoral $CO_2$ Laser Microsurgery of glottic Carcinoma is replacing external approaches. The qualify of life after surgery for laryngeal cancer may be as important as complete resection of the tumor for patient. Transoral $CO_2$ laser cordectomy for the management of early laryngeal cancer has advantages with regard to oncological results, preservation of laryngeal functions, morbidity and cost in comparison to those of open surgery or radiation therapy. Moreover, transoral laser surgery can be a useful choice as a salvage surgery in radiation therapy failed early glottic cancer. A classification of laryngeal endoscopic cordectomies which included eight different types was described by the European laryngological Society in 2000. We will also introduce type VI which was newly proposed recently.

This research developed dry cold air grinding system, and this ensured cold effects of machine tools and dressing effects against loading phenomenon of grinding wheel, thus extending the tool life of grinding wheel.

Since 1997, Korean government changed the status of extension educators from central government staff to county/city government staff for the sake of democratization and localization, regardless of opposition of academic society of extension professionals. Localization of extension educators followed by government restructuring in Korea, resulted various problems, such as 1) Decreased morale and number of extension educators, thus weakening the extension educational function, 2) Weakened linkages between national and local extension offices, 3) Less opportunity for in-service edition of extension educators, 4) Weakened linkages between agricultural research and extension, etc. During the last 30 years, extension services have helped Korean farmers in achieving self sufficiency of rice and year around supply of green vegetables by diffusion of vinyl house technology. Various problems after three years of localization of extension educators were discussed between announcer of radio KBS and a professor of extension in an interview format, and it was concluded that national efforts should be needed to restore morale of extension educators to continually achieve the national goals of food production, balanced national development and preservation of environment, at the same time to meet increasing needs of farmers.
