  • Transoral $CO_2$ Laser Microsurgery of glottic Carcinoma is replacing external approaches. The qualify of life after surgery for laryngeal cancer may be as important as complete resection of the tumor for patient. Transoral $CO_2$ laser cordectomy for the management of early laryngeal cancer has advantages with regard to oncological results, preservation of laryngeal functions, morbidity and cost in comparison to those of open surgery or radiation therapy. Moreover, transoral laser surgery can be a useful choice as a salvage surgery in radiation therapy failed early glottic cancer. A classification of laryngeal endoscopic cordectomies which included eight different types was described by the European laryngological Society in 2000. We will also introduce type VI which was newly proposed recently.

  • Fragrance-like style-is one of the intangible aspects of costume history that we often wish had been preserved. Garments were perfumed both to impart a pleasurable impression and to mask disagreeable odors from use or from production processes such as tanning and dyeing. Expensive gloves were traditionally perfumed, as well as lace collars, silk stockings and shawls. Both historical and modern attempts have been made to create scents that please the wearer and attract the oppoiste sex, while (preferable) also repelling osquitoes and moths! Unintentional perfuming also occurred, which we sometimes may be lucky to find in our museum collections. How do we describe and identify the transient odors of museum objects, and at what cost can they be preserved and presented for the public? This lecture includes samples of reconstructed historical scents presented in costume exhibitions at the Royal Danish Collections.

  • Communications among multi-party must be fast, cost effective and secure. Today's computing environments such as internet conference, multi-user games and many more applications involve multi-party. All participants together establish a common session key to enable multi-party and secure exchange of messages. Multi-party password-based authenticated key exchange scheme allows users to communicate securely over an insecure network by using easy-to-remember password. Kwon et al. proposed a practical three-party password-based authenticated key exchange (3-PAKE) scheme to allow two users to establish a session key through a server without pre-sharing a password between users. However, Kwon et al.'s scheme cannot meet the security requirements of key authentication, key confirmation and anonymity. In this paper, we present a novel, simple and efficient multi-party password-based authenticated key exchange (M-PAKE) scheme based on the elliptic curve cryptography for mobile environment. Our proposed scheme only requires two round-messages. Furthermore, the proposed scheme not only satisfies security requirements for PAKE scheme but also achieves efficient computation and communication.

  • The brown rice drying is effective for energy saving and cost reduction. However, deterioration after drying is one problem, because the skin damage occurs during the drying. So, the measures to preserve the quality has been investigated. One of major quality deteriorations is the oxidation of fat which is contained in the bran layer. So, milling should be carried out to remove the fat as soon as possible after brown rice drying. And the low temperature storage is also worth to be examined for prevention of oxidation. The effect of skin damage on the increase of fat oxidation was clarified. For the grain of skin damage, the increased of fatty acid vaule was remarkable after 70 days elapsed from occurrence of skin damage even in $15\;^{\circ}C$ condition. Therefore it is impossible to keep grain as brown rice form after brown rice drying. For the clean rice and excessively milled rice, the quality can be preserved even in high temperature of $30\;^{\circ}C$. Therefore the brown rice drying can b applied practically using the clean rice technique.

  • Although a dry-system tunnel is not good for reasons fo economy and construction, it has been applied to some tunnels under construction owing to the advantages of good long-term maintenance of tunnel, prevention of consolidation settlement due to the drawdown of groundwater, preservation of the ecosystem, cutailment of operation cost, and so on. The stability of groundwater and the change of the applied water pressure after water proofing were analysed by the finite element method. Using this result, an example of designing the secondary lining for the dry-system tunnel which is to be constructed in low-permeability hard rock was presented.

  • This study develops a improved gate assignment algorithm and decision support system using its algorithm to extract a assignment result minimizing a walking distance of passengers in airport and maximizing the utilization rate of avaliable gates in domestic airports. By operation support system, it may contribute greatly in efficient enlargement of airport operation and increase the airport reliability through quickly coping with takeoff and landing delay of flight due to weather change, preservation and repair of gate, etc. Also, passengers who use airport terminal can minimize time and walking distance for departure, arrival, and transit, and it may greatly reduce the additional operation cost for common gates through maximizing the utilization rate for exclusive usage gates for airplanes which use gates.

  • Nanomaterial-based artificial enzymes (Nanozymes) have attracted recent attention because of their unique advantageous characteristics such as excellent robustness and stability, low-cost production by facile scale-up, and longterm preservation capability that are critically required as an alternative to natural enzymes. These nanozymes exhibit natural enzyme-like activity, and they have been applied to diverse kinds of detection methods for disease-associated biomolecules such as DNAs, proteins, cells, and small molecules including glucose. To highlight the progress in the field of disease diagnostics using nanozyme, this review discusses many nanozyme-based detection methods categorized by the types of target biomolecules. Finally, we address the current challenges and perspectives for the widespread utilization of nanozyme-based disease diagnostics.

  • We propose the model of Software Rejuvenation methodology, which is applicable for survivability. Software rejuvenation is a proactive fault management technique and being used in fault tolerant systems as a cost effective technique for dealing with software faults. Survivability focuses on delivery of essential services and preservation of essential assets, even systems are penetrated and compromised. Thus, our objective is to detect the intrusions in a real time and survive in face of such attacks. As we deterrent against an attack in a system level, the Intrusion tolerance could be maximized at the target environment. We address the optimal time to execute ad hoc software rejuvenation and we compute it by using the semi Markov process. This is one way that could be really frustrated and deterred the attacks, as the attacker can't make their progress. This Software Rejuvenation method can be very effective under the assumption of unknown attacks. In this paper, we compute the optimum time to perform an ad hoc Software Rejuvenation through intrusions.

  • Transoral $CO_2$ laser microsurgery has been widely used for various laryngeal diseases. Laser cordectomy for the management of early laryngeal carcinoma has advantages with regards to oncologic results, preservation of laryngeal functions, morbidity and cost in comparison to those of open surgery or radiation therapy. $CO_2$ laser is also applicable to benign vocal fold lesions such as nodules, polyps, cysts, reinke's edema, granulomas, papillomas, hemangiomas and glottis webs. $CO_2$ laser is suitable for microsurgery because it has small focus size and hemostatic effect. We should also recognize the risks of $CO_2$ laser for safe use.
