  • A total of one hundred twenty pigs ($L{\times}Y{\times}D$, $50{\pm}0.78kg$) were employed for a 7-week feeding trial to determine the effect of inclusion levels of vitamin and mineral (VTM) premixes on growth performance, nutrient digestibility and pork stability in finishing pigs. Treatments were 100% (Control), 150%, 200%, and 250% of NRC (1998) requirements. Increasing dietary VTM premixes in finishing pigs had a linear (p<0.05) effect on ADG. It also had a linear effect (p<0.05) on the digestibility of calcium and a linear and quadratic effect (p<0.05) on the digestibility of phosphorus. As dietary VTM levels were increased from 100 to 250% NRC (1998), TBARS values of pork samples were linearly (p<0.05) lowered when stored at $1^{\circ}C$ for 2 or 3 weeks. There was also a trend reducing POV of pig meat as dietary VTM level was increased. In conclusion, it would appear that inclusion of VTM premixes at the level of 200-250% of NRC (1998) requirements gave positive effects on growth performance and pork stability in finishing pigs.

  • Laminar burning velocities of propane- and iso-octane-air mixtures have been numerically modelled over a wide range of equivalence ratio, pressure and temperature. These correlations are applicable to the modelling of stratified charged combustion like that of lean bum and GDI engine combustion. The numerical models are based on the results calculated by PREMIX code with Sloane's detailed chemical reaction mechanism for propane and FlameMaster code with Peters' for iso-octane. Laminar burning velocity for two fuels showed a pressure and temperature dependence in the following form, in the range of $0.1{\sim}4MPa$, and $300{\sim}1000K$, respectively. $S_L={\alpha}\;{\exp}[-\xi({\phi}-{\phi}_m)^2-{\exp}\{-{\xi}({\phi}-{\phi}_m)\}-{\xi}({\phi}-{\phi}_m)]$ where ${\phi}_m=1.07$, and both of ${\alpha}$ and ${\xi}$ are functions of pressure and temperature. Compared with the results of the existing models, those of the present one showed the good agreement of the recent experiment data, especially in the range of lean and rich sides. Judging from the calculated results of the stratified charged combustion by using STAR-CD, the above modelling prove to be more suitable than the other ones.

  • An analysis of the effects of $CO_{2}$ on fundamental combustion characteristics was performed in Oxygen enriched condition by comparing the laminar burning velocities, flame structures, fuel oxidation paths. Fictitious $CO_{2}$ was introduced to discriminate the chemical reaction effects of $CO_{2}$ from the thermal effects. PREMIX code was utilized to evaluate the laminar burning velocities. OPPDIF code was utilized to investigate the flame structure and fuel oxidation path variation. The contributions of thermal effects on laminar burning velocities are dominant at lowly oxygen-enriched condition but those of chemical reaction effects become dominant at highly oxygen-enriched condition. Chemical reaction effects caused the additional flame temperature decrease besides thermal effects and oxygen-leakage increase in non-premixed flame. Specific fuel oxidation path and CO production path is enhanced in spite of overall decrement of fuel consumption rate by chemical reaction effects of$CO_{2}$.

  • The knowledge of flame structure is essential for control of combustion instability phenomena. Some results of an experimental study on mechanism of naturally occurring combustion oscillations with a single dominant frequency are presented. Tests were conducted in a laboratory-scale dump combustor at atmospheric pressure. Sound level meter was used to track the pressure wave inside the combustor. The observed instability was a longitudinal mode with a frequency of $\sim341.8Hz$. Instability map was obtained at the condition of inlet temperature of $360^{\circ}C$, mean velocities of $8.5\sim10.8m/s$ and well premixed mixture. It showed that combustion instability was susceptible to occur in the lean conditions. In this study, unstable flame was observed from stoichiometric to 0.7 in overall equivalence ratio. At selected unstable conditions, phase-resolved OH chemiluminescence images were captured to investigate flame structure with various mean velocities. As mean velocity is increased, the flame grows and global heat release was changed. Due to these effects, combustion instability can be maintained at more lean air-fuel ratio. Also, these results give an insight to the controlling mechanism for an increasing heat release at maximum pressure.

  • The reductive amination of cyclohexanone with ammonia over Cu-Cr-a/γ-Al2O3 was investigated. It was found that a proper solvent with high solubility of ammonia and 4Å molecular sieves for the elimination of generated water contributed to the formation of cyclohexylamine in the premixing process. In addition, the addition of ammonia in the fixedbed reactor could obviously improve the conversion of cyclohexanone to cyclohexylamine. Finally, reaction conditions including reaction temperature, hydrogen pressure and charging rate of the premix were optimized. Under the optimized conditions, cyclohexylamine was obtained in 83.06% yield.

  • This study aims to know what the physicochemical properties and physical properties of the Korean traditional rice cake injulmi made from persimmon powder and glutinous rice(powder), and to come up with a standard recipe of it with the premixed powder of persimmon and glutinous rice. Cooked rice powder with 9 different levels of persimmon in cooling dough(75, 100 and 150${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ power with each 20, 40, and 60%) was tested for rheological parameters, the rate of swelling, degree of gelatinization, sensory evaluation, and the observation of cross section used to electronmicroscope. 1. sensory evaluation conducted by 20 university students as panelists showed that mixed glutinous rice powder and persimmon powder lost their regular forms. increase in persimmon powder content increased a thin layer of starch granule, presumably due to sugar and fiber in the mixed persimmon powder granule. 3. In cooking the rice cake with 20~60% of persimmon, it showed 6.3 to 5.5 pH. 4. Quantitative description analysis conducted by 20 university student s panelists showed that sample that sample C was preferred among 9 samples. From these results, it was concluded that glutinous rice cake cooked with 20% of persimmon powder was quiet acceptable. Optimum cooking condition for the glutinous rice with persimmon powder rice cake was 30min of cooking time and 25$0^{\circ}C$ of cooking temperature with gas oven.

  • The Purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between the local heat release rate and CH concentration have been investigated by numerical simulations of methane-air premixed flames. And simultaneous CH and OH PLIF(Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence) measurement has been also conducted for lean premixed flame as well as for laminar flames. Numerical simulations are conducted for laminar premixed flames and turbulent ones by using PREMIX in CHEMKIN and two dimensional DNS code with GRI mechanism version 2.11, respectively. In the case of laminar premixed flame, the distance between the peak of heat release rate and that of CH concentration is under $91{\mu}m$ for all equivalence ratio calculated in present work. Even for the premixed flame in high intensity turbulence, the distribution of the heat release rate coincides with that of CH mole fraction. For CH PLIF measurements in the laminar premixed flame burner, CH fluorescence intensity as a function of equivalence ratio shows a similar trend with CH mole fraction computed by GRI mechanism. Simultaneous CH and OH PLIF measurement gave us useful information of instantaneous reaction zone. In addition, CH fluorescence can be measured even for lean conditions where CH mole fraction significantly decreases compared with that of stoichiometric condition. It was found that CH PLIF measurements can be applicable to the estimation of the spatial fluctuations of heat release rate in the engine combustion.

  • Recently, meteorological disasters have been increasing by climate change, excessive rainfall, and landslide. The purpose is to develop new fabric concrete that can prevent and recover from damages because some of areas are vulnerable to meteorological disaster. Specifically, this technology can minimize time and space constraint when repairing the concrete structure and installing a formwork. The structure of fabric concrete is a mixture of fabric concrete and a high-speed hardened cement, Silica sand, wollastonite mineral fiber, fabric material and waterproof PVC fabric. In this study, the ratio of mechanical properties and durability of the fabric concrete mixture was evaluated by deriving the binder: silica sand mix ratio of the fabric concrete mixture and substituting part of the cement amount with wollastonite mineral fiber. Best binder in performance evaluation: Silica sand mix ratio is 6: 4 and the target mechanical performance and durability are the best when over 15% wollastonite binder is replaced by silicate mineral fiber.

  • In this paper, two types of porous burners with radial and axial flow have been modeled numerically and compared. For this purpose, governing equations were solved one-dimensionally for methane-air premix gas. The mechanism used in simulating combustion phenomenon was 15 stage reduced mechanism based on GRI3.0. In order to compare the two burners, the inlet flow rate and fuel-air ratio have been assumed equal for the two burners. The results of the study indicated that reduction in speed and increase in cross-section area in the direction of flow have a considerable influence on the behavior of radial burner in comparison to axial burner. Regarding temperature distribution inside the burner, it was observed that the two above mentioned factors can be influential in temperature of flame propagation region. Also, regarding distribution of CO and NO emission, the results indicate that the porous radial burner has lower emissions in comparison to the axial once. The output radiative heat transfer efficiency of the two burners was also compared and in this case also even the radial porous burner was found to be preferable.
