Pulmonary nodular lymphoid hyperplasia is a reactive lymphoproliferative disease. It is very rare, which means that many aspects of the disease are unknown or have not been proven. Pulmonary nodular lymphoid hyperplasia can be symptomatic or asymptomatic, progressive or not, and solitary or multiple, and a surgical approach is the current treatment of choice. We present a case of pulmonary nodular lymphoid hyperplasia that was visualized as multiple ground glass opacities on a computed tomography (C T) scan, and observed for 1 year because the patient was pregnant. Over this period, the number and extent of the opacities progressed, but no symptoms were reported. A surgical biopsy was done and some remaining lesions regressed on follow-up CT scans, while others progressed, without any appearance of symptoms.
The purpose of this study was to explore the determinants of induced abortions of married women in Korea, with focus on the socioeconomic factors including fertility behaviors and ideation regarding family values. Data from the 2000 Korea National Fertility Survey by Korea Institute of Health and Social Affairs were used for the research. In particular, the women´s fertility history from 1998 to 2000 was served as the main data for this study. Among 1,901 pregnancies in total, 1,612 pregnancy outcomes were selected for the final analysis. Chi-square test, Wilcoxon rank sum test and multivariate logistic regressions were employed to identify influential factors on induced abortions. According to the results, working women was more likely than those who did not work to terminate their pregnancy by an induced abortion. Women´s religion did not show any significant impact on an induced abortion. A pregnant woman already having more than or equal to two children was very likely to choose an induced abortion. Likewise, those in unwanted pregnancy showed high probability of induced abortions. However, contrary to what we believe, it turned out that the number of sons did not affect the choice of induced abortions.
From old times, we think it is very important to become pregnancy with child and to give birth healthy, as the human gives not just body but also spirit. When we judge pregnancy, we usually check lady's menstrual cycle. But it is too difficult to diagnosis as pregnancy only check that. Therefore feeling pulse has been made use of knowing pregnancy or not, monthly pregnancy states and childbirth. "Haung-di-nei-jing" mentions pregnancy-pulse, for example, "Yin beats and Yang distinguishes", "Shou-shao-yin-mai moves severely", "Lady has some symptoms, but no Xie-mai". Since then, there are many opinions of schools about that. For the period of pregnancy, pulse shows special features, according as the symptoms differ from month to month. When pregnant woman is just about to bear, her pulse changes unusually. In oriental medicine, it is called as Li-jing-mai. Pregnancy-pulse is worth refering to pursue a clinical examination.
Objectives : This paper is to report a natural pregnancy of Whidam's Su-Gi therapy with korean medical treatment on a infertile patient who had a missed abortion and was repeatedly failed in IVF-ET. Methods : A patient who had infertility problem had a missed abortion, endometrial curettage and IVF-ET several times. In this study, the patient steadily took a Whidam's Su-Gi therapy with korean medical treatment such as herbal medication, acupuncture, and cupping therapy, and so forth. Results : Through taking Whidam's Su-Gi therapy without assisted reproduction techniques, the patient got pregnant naturally. Conclusions : This case suggest that Whidam's Su-Gi therapy with korean medical treatment is effective in treating infertile female after missed abortion and failure in IVF-ET and inducing natural pregnancy. Therefore, there needs to be more trial on infertile patients treated with Su-Gi therapy with korean medical treatment.
Listeria monocytogenes, one of five species in the genus Listeria and the only one currently believed to be pathogenic for humans, is a small gram-positive, nonsporeforming, aerobic, motile and hemolytic rod-shaped bacterium. The bacterium is widespread in the environment, having been isolated from soil, dust, animal feed, water, sewage, almost every type of animal that has been cultured, and asymptomatic humans. L. monocytogenes causes listeriosis, a disease which most often affects humans with a compromised immune system. Included are pregnant woman, infants and adults suffering from such diseases as cancer, cirrhosis of liver or AIDS or are being treated with drugs such as corticosteroids. Listeriosis is manifested by such syndromes as pregnancy infections, granulomatosis infantiseptica, sepsis, meningoencephalitis, and focal infections. Infections, can be treated successfully with penicillin, ampicillin, or erythromycin. However, a mortality rate of about 30% has occurred in outbreaks of listeriosis. Food-associated outbreaks of listeriosis have been attributed to coleslaw (Canada, 1981), pasteurized milk (U.S., 1983), and soft cheese (U.S., 1985). Presence of L. monocytogenes in various dairy foods has prompted recall of such products from the U.S. market-place. L. monocytogenes also has been found in raw meats and seafood.

The surgical removal of solid deep-seated hemangioblastomas remains challenging, because treatment of these lesions is often complicated by severe bleeding associated with the rich vascularity of this tumor, and by severe neural tissue injury associated with the difficulty of en bloc resection, especially when the tumor is located at the cervicomedullary junction. Therefore, preoperative embolization of deep-seated solid hemangioblastomas may play an important role in successful surgical removal by reducing major bleeding and neural tissue damage. A 24-year-old woman, 28-weeks pregnant, was admitted to our hospital for the evaluation of quadriparesis, and brain magnetic resonance imaging[MRI] revealed intra-axial mass lesion in the cervicomedullary junction. After delivery, her neurologic symptoms became aggravated, and we decided to operate. Preoperative angiography revealed a hypervascular tumor in the posterior fossa, and embolization of the main feeding artery using gelfoam and microcoil, resulted in marked reduction of tumor vascularity. She underwent a midline suboccipital craniotomy involving the removal of the arch of C-1. The tumor was totally removed through a midline myelotomy, and at her 6-month follow-up she walked independently. We report on the combined use of the preoperative embolization of feeding vessels and subsequent operative resection in a patient with a solid hemangioblastoma at the cervicomedullary junction immediately after delivery.
Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome (WHS) is caused by a deletion of the short arm on chromosome 4 and is characterized by multiple congenital abnormalities, growth and mental retardation. In this case report, we performed amniocentesis for the chromosome analysis on a 25-year-old pregnant woman at 16 weeks of gestation whom we suspected of Edward's syndrome by the triple test of maternal serum and ultrasonography. The result of analysis revealed a karyotype of the fetus with 46,XY,del(4)(p15) by trypsin Giemsa's banding technique. With the result, we were able to diagnose the fetus as having WHS. As such, after therapeutic termination of the pregnancy, we confirmed WHS through the sampling of tissue by both trypsin Giemsa's banding and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) method. To determine the origin of the WHS, we further tested the karyotypes of the parents. As parental karyotypes were found to be normal, we determined the case of the fetal WHS to be de novo.
