Crafting an Automated Algorithm for Estimating the Quantity of Beam Rebar

  • Precise construction cost estimation is paramount to determining the total construction expense of a project prior to the initiation of the construction phase. Despite this, manual quantification and cost estimation methods, which continue to be widely used, may result in imprecise estimation and subsequent financial loss. Given the fast-paced and efficiency-demanding nature of the construction industry, trustworthy quantity and cost estimation is essential. To mitigate these obstacles, this research is focused on establishing an automated quantity estimation algorithm, particularly designed for the main rebar of beams which are recognized for their complicated reinforcement configurations. The exact quantity derived from the proposed algorithm is compared to the manually approximated quantity, reflecting a variance of 10.27%. As a result, significant errors and impending financial loss can be averted. The implementation of the findings from this research holds the potential to significantly assist construction firms in quickly and accurately estimating rebar quantities while adhering strictly to applicable specifications and regulatory requirements.

  • 적산분야에서 CAD 시스템의 도입은 생산성과 작업능률에 크게 영향을 미치고 있고, 물량산출 자동화에도 상당한 영향을 미쳤으나 정미량 산출에는 아직 미흡하다. 또한 지금까지 개발된 적산 프로그램들은 각각의 부재별 물량산출을 다루고 있어 부재와 부재가 겹치는 경계부분 물량산출은 한계를 노출하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 부재와 부재가 겹치는 경계부분의 특징을 분석하여 물량산출 알고리즘을 개발하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 본 연구의 범위는 골조공사 가운데 콘크리트와 거푸집 물량산출 알고리즘을 대상으로 하였다. 본 연구의 결과로 제시된 알고리즘을 적산 프로그램에 적용할 경우 콘크리트와 거푸집 물량산출이 정밀하게, 그리고 자동으로 수행되어 공사관리의 효율화를 기할 수 있다.

  • The traditional mechanical manometer is improved to develop more convenient and precise manometer in continuous measurement of the gas pressure in medium-low vacuum range (1x10$^{-1}$ -10 Torr.) Glass (solid) is used as a detector material of the improved manometer. Using the strain gauge adhered to thin glass board, mechanical strain corresponding to variation of pressure in measurement system is converted into quantity of electricity, and the quantity of electricity is amplified. Experiments have also shown that the improved manometer have more advantages in reproducibility, measured sensibility, and responsible velocity than taditional one.

슬래브 철근 물량 산출 자동화 알고리즘 개발 (Development of an Algorithm for Automatic Quantity Take-off of Slab Rebar)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 정착 길이, 표준 후크 및 이음 길이와 같은 관련 규정을 준수하면서 슬래브 철근의 정확한 절단 길이를 산출하는 자동화된 알고리즘을 제안하는 것이다. 제안된 알고리즘은 일반적으로 외주를 통해 수작업으로 진행하던 기존 철근 물량 산출 프로세스를 개선하는 것을 목표로 한다. 입찰 단계부터 정확한 철근 수량 데이터를 BBS(Bar Bending Schedule) 수준으로 제공함으로써 물량 산출의 불확실성을 제거하고 외부 의존도를 낮출 수 있다. 또한, 알고리즘을 통해 정확한 물량을 조기에 산출하는 경우 건설사는 경쟁력 있고 최적화된 입찰을 미리 준비할 수 있어 계약 협상 시 이익률을 높일 수 있다. 제안된 알고리즘은 견적, 예산, BBS 생성 등 다양한 프로세스에서 중복되는 업무를 간소화할 뿐만 아니라 계약 후 구조 도면 변경에도 유연하게 대처할 수 있다. 특히, 제안된 알고리즘을 BIM과 결합하는 경우 시공 초기 단계에서 BIM을 적용할 때 발생하는 기술적 문제를 해결할 수 있으며, REVIT 기반 패밀리 파일로 구축된 알고리즘의 수식과 형상 코드는 실무에서 상당한 시간과 인력 절감에 기여한다.

  • 최근 BIM을 활용도가 높아지면서 BIM기반 수량산출의 관한 연구가 다양하게 진행되고 있지만 기존 BIM기반 수량산출에 관한 명확한 기준이 정립되지 않아 정확도가 떨어지고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 마감공사를 대상으로 2D기반 수량산출과 모델링 방법에 따라 3D모델에서 산출한 수량 차이를 비교하고 수량차이 원인을 파악하고자 하였다. 수량산출 결과 벽, 바닥, 그리고 천장 순으로 수량차이가 크게 나타났다. 차이가 발생한 이유는 내부와 외부를 하나의 복합요소로 모델링할 경우 모든 마감재의 높이를 설정할 수 없기 때문에 실제 수량보다 더 과하게 산출되기 때문이다. 따라서 3D 모델에서 마감수량을 산출할 경우 내부와 외부를 각각의 복합요소로 구성하여 모델링하는 것이 수량차이를 줄일 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 향후 더 많은 사례연구를 통해 산출 기준을 정립한다면 BIM을 활용한 원가관리가 활성화될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • Reinforcing steel work plays an important role in terms of its structural performance or weight of construction cost for reinforced concrete structures. Precise estimation of re-bar quantity gives a basis for managing the reinforcing steel work effectively. However, the estimation process is still performed ineffectively based upon the expert's experience or manpower in spite of the advanced technology or improvement efforts. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to develop a prototype system for taking-off the quantity of reinforcing steel bars quickly and accurately in an order consistent with the specific members identified on the drawings. An estimate algorithm considering the connection, settlement and coating thickness of re-bars was suggested regarding to their replacement conditions which places more emphasis on constructibility. Also, this system produces the shop drawings automatically with the calculation results with work zone information.

액상 LPG 인젝터의 유량 모델 개발 (Development of Flow Rate Model of a Liquid Phase LPG Injector)

  • Flash boiling mechanism in the injector interferes with fine fuel metering in a liquid phase LPG injection engine. This study presents a mathematical model to precisely predict an injection quantity. A calibration procedure of injection quantity, which is very prompt and precise in measuring, is developed using a gas analyzer. According to this procedure, injection quantity can be obtained under various fuel compositions, temperatures and injection pressures. The release pressure of liquid phase LPG is estimated based on these experimental data. Although the release pressure is much lower than the saturation pressure, it is linearly proportional to the saturation pressure.

  • In a SI engine, three-way catalyst converter has the best efficiency when A/F ratio is near the stoichiometry. The feedback control using oxygen sensors in the commercial engine has limits caused by the system delays. So it is necessary to control fuel quantity in accordance with intake air amount in order to reduce exhaust emission and improve the specific fuel consumption. Precise A/F ratio control requires measurement of air amount with respect to the cylinder and injection fuel according to the air amount In this paper, we applied nonlinear fuel injection model and developed the algorithm of A/F ratio control. This algorithm includes the methods of measurement of transient air mass flowing into each cylinder, of calculation of injection pulse width for measured air mass, and the method of feedback and engine control by using lambda sensor. Also we developed control program for IBM-PC by using C++ Builder, and tested it in the commercial engine.

Advancing an Automated Algorithm for Estimating Rebar Quantities in Columns

  • Manual estimation of rebar quantities by contractors often yields discrepancies between projected and actual amounts used in the construction phase, leading to cost inaccuracies and potential logistical challenges. To address these issues, there is a clear need for a method that allows precise estimation of rebar quantities during the design phase. Such a method would enhance contractor competitiveness during project bids, promote accurate cost calculations, and avert superfluous rebar purchases on-site. Given that columns are the primary structural components in reinforced concrete(RC) buildings and necessitate considerable amounts of rebar, this study focuses on creating an automated algorithm for estimating column rebar quantities. An analysis of the accurate quantities obtained via the study and those derived from manual estimation reveals a discrepancy of 0.346 tons or 2.056%. This comparison affirms the proposed algorithm's efficacy in eliminating errors from overestimation or underestimation of rebar quantities. The practical implications of this study are significant for construction companies as it fosters efficient and precise estimation of rebar quantities, ensuring compliance with related specifications and governing regulations.

복합발전 계통연계 시 보상장치 필요성 분석을 위한 거리에 따른 무효전력 민감성 분석 (A sensitivity analysis about reactive power according to the interconnection distance of wave-offshore hybrid generation system)

  • The designed hybrid generation system (HGS) not only consider the voltage condition of grid connection point but also do reactive power support according to the transmission system operator's directions. The PCS operation plan in HGS should be supported by precise transferred quantity expectation about reactive power because the system has large physical areas and also be interconnected with grid through long transmission system. Therefore, the realistic measuring process about transferred reactive power quantity by utilizing HGS is required to consider additional compensation plan. In this paper, an reactive power transferred capability of HGS with expected parameter is analyzed, and imposed to the simulation process that is performed on EMTDC environment. Basically, grid information and system characteristics were utilized with Jeju island in Korea, and the performance analysis is carried out based on the composed layout in ongoing project.
