  • An irrigation monitoring system is an efficient approach to save water and to provide effective irrigation scheduling for rice cultivation in desert soils. This research aimed to design, fabricate, and evaluate the basic performance of an irrigation monitoring system based on information and communication technology (ICT) for rice cultivation under drip and micro-sprinkler irrigation in desert soils using a Raspberry Pi. A data acquisition system was installed and tested inside a rice cultivating net house at the United Arab Emirates University, Al-Foah, Al-Ain. The Raspberry Pi operating system was used to control the irrigation and to monitor the soil water content, ambient temperature, humidity, and light intensity inside the net house. Soil water content sensors were placed in the desert soil at depths of 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 cm. A sensor-based automatic irrigation logic circuit was used to control the actuators and to manage the crop irrigation operations depending on the soil water content requirements. A developed webserver was used to store the sensor data and update the actuator status by communicating via the Pi-embedded Wi-Fi network. The maximum and minimum average soil water contents, ambient temperatures, humidity levels, and light intensity values were monitored as 33.91 ± 2 to 26.95 ± 1%, 45 ± 3 to 24 ± 3℃, 58 ± 2 to 50 ± 4%, and 7160-90 lx, respectively, during the experimental period. The ICT-based monitoring system ensured precise irrigation scheduling and better performance to provide an adequate water supply and information about the ambient environment.

  • In this paper, authors will develop the quick and precise remote controller of automatic fire detection equipment (P-type one-class receiver) based on information communication technology (IT). The remote controller detects the fire and disaster in the building automatically and quickly and then activates the facilities to extinguish the fire and disaster, monitoring such situation in a real time through wire-wireless communication network. The proposed remote controller is applied a programmable logic device (PLD) micom. of one-chip type which is small size and lightweight and also has highly sensitive-precise reliabilities. The one-chip type PLD micom. analyzes digital signals from sensors, then activates fire extinguishing facilities for alarm and rapid suppression in a case of fire and disaster. The detected data is also transferred to a remote situation room through wire-wireless network of RS232c and bluetooth communication, and then the situation room sends an emergency alarm signal. The automatic fire detection equipment (AFDE) based on IT will minimize the life and wealth loss while prevents fire and disaster.

  • Sensor node (SN) is a crucial part in any remote monitoring system. It is a device designed to monitor the particular changes taking place in its environs. Wireless sensor network (WSN) is a system formed by the set of wirelessly connected SNs placed at different geographical locations within a target region. Precise placement of SNs is appreciated, as it affects the efficiency and effectiveness of any WSN. The manual placement of SNs is only feasible for small scale regions. The task of SN placement becomes tedious, when the size of a target region is extremely large and manually unreachable. In this research article, an automated mechanism for fast and precise deployment of SNs in a large scale target region has been proposed. It uses an assembly of rotating cannons to launch the SNs from a moving carrier helicopter. The entire system is synchronized such that the launched SNs accurately land on the pre-computed desired locations (DLs). Simulation results show that the proposed model offers a simple, time efficient and effective technique to place SNs in a large scale target region.

  • The Centimeter Level Augmentation Service (CLAS) is the Precise Point Positioning (PPP) - Real Time Kinematic (RTK) correction service utilizing the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) L6 (1278.65 MHz) signal to broadcast the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) error corrections. Compact State-Space Representation (CSSR) corrections for mitigating GNSS measurement error sources such as satellite orbit, clock, code and phase biases, tropospheric error, ionospheric error are estimated from the ground segment of QZSS CLAS using the code and carrier-phase measurements collected in the Japan's GNSS Earth Observation Network (GEONET). Since the CLAS service begun on November 1, 2018, users with dedicated receivers can perform cm-level precise positioning using CSSR corrections. In this paper, CLAS-based VRS-RTK performance evaluation was performed using Global Positioning System (GPS) observables collected from the refence station, TSK2, located in Japan. As a result of performing GPS-only RTK positioning using the open-source software CLASLIB and RTKLIB, it took about 15 minutes to resolve the carrier-phase ambiguities, and the RTK fix rate was only about 41%. Also, the Root Mean Squares (RMS) values of position errors (fixed only) are about 4cm horizontally and 7 cm vertically.

  • GPS (Global Positioning System) is currently used widely in the ground section, such as surveying, mapping, geodesy, geophysics, the aviation section, such as aerial navigation and aerial photography, the sea section, including ship navigation and bathymetry, and space section, such as the satellite orbit and Earth's orbit. On the other hand, its use is limited due to the professional knowledge and expense to process the data for precise analysis. As a result, a web-based data processing solution for precise point positioning using GPS data was developed by c# for non-specialized people to process easily. In addition, the crustal movement speed of Korea after an earthquake was calculated to be an average of 30mm/year for each CORS, suggesting that it is possible to monitor crustal movement.

  • Double patterning technology (DPT) has been suggested as a promising candidates of the next generation lithography technology in FLASH and DRAM manufacturing in sub-40nm technology node. DPT enables to overcome the physical limitation of optical lithography, and it is expected to be continued as long as e-beam lithography takes place in manufacturing. Several different processes for DPT are currently available in practice, and they are litho-litho-etch (LLE), litho-etch-litho-etch (LELE), litho-freeze-litho-etch (LFLE), and self-aligned double patterning (SADP) [1]. The self-aligned approach is regarded as more suitable for mass production, but it requires precise control of sidewall space etch profile for the exact definition of hard mask layer. In this paper, we propose etch end point detection (EPD) in spacer etching to precisely control sidewall profile in SADP. Conventional etch EPD notify the end point after or on-set of a layer being etched is removed, but the EPD in spacer etch should land-off exactly after surface removal while the spacer is still remained. Precise control of real-time in-situ EPD may help to control the size of spacer to realize desired pattern geometry. To demonstrate the capability of spacer-etch EPD, we fabricated metal line structure on silicon dioxide layer and spacer deposition layer with silicon nitride. While blanket etch of the spacer layer takes place in inductively coupled plasma-reactive ion etching (ICP-RIE), in-situ monitoring of plasma chemistry is performed using optical emission spectroscopy (OES), and the acquired data is stored in a local computer. Through offline analysis of the acquired OES data with respect to etch gas and by-product chemistry, a representative EPD time traces signal is derived. We found that the SE-EPD is useful for precise control of spacer etching in DPT, and we are continuously developing real-time SE-EPD methodology employing cumulative sum (CUSUM) control chart [2].

  • The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is planning to launch CAS-500 (Compact Advanced Satellite 500) 1 and 2 in 2019 and 2020. Satellite image information collected through CAS-500 can be used in various fields such as global environmental monitoring, topographic map production, analysis for disaster prevention. In order to utilize in various fields like this, it is important to get the location accuracy of the satellite image. In order to establish the precise geometry of the satellite image, it is necessary to establish a precise sensor model using the GCP (Ground Control Point). In order to utilize various fields, step - by - step automation for orthoimage construction is required. To do this, a database of satellite image GCP chip should be structured systematically. Therefore, in this study, we will analyze various techniques for automatic GCP extraction for precise geometry of satellite images.

  • This study presents the usability of the high-rate single-frequency Precise Point Positioning (SF-PPP) technique based on 20 Hz Global Positioning Systems (GPS)-only observations in detecting dynamic motions. SF-PPP solutions were obtained from post-mission and real-time GNSS corrections. These include the International GNSS Service (IGS)-Final, IGS real-time (RT), real-time MADOCA (Multi-GNSS Advanced Demonstration tool for Orbit and Clock Analysis), and real-time products from the Australian/New Zealand satellite-based augmentation systems (SBAS, known as SouthPAN). SF-PPP results were compared with LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) sensor and single-frequency relative positioning (SF-RP) solutions. The findings show that the SF-PPP technique successfully detects the harmonic motions, and the real-time products-based PPP solutions were as accurate as the final post-mission products. In the frequency domain, all GNSS-based methods evaluated in this contribution correctly detect the dominant frequency of short-term harmonic oscillations, while the differences in the amplitude values corresponding to the peak frequency do not exceed 1.1 mm. However, evaluations in the time domain show that SF-PPP needs high-pass filtering to detect accurate displacement since SF-PPP solutions include trends and low-frequency fluctuations, mainly due to atmospheric effects. Findings obtained in the time domain indicate that final, real-time, and MADOCA-based PPP results capture short-term dynamic behaviors with an accuracy ranging from 3.4 mm to 8.5 mm, and SBAS-based PPP solutions have several times higher RMSE values compared to other methods. However, after high-pass filtering, the accuracies obtained from PPP methods decreased to a few mm. The outcomes demonstrate the potential of the high-rate SF-PPP method to reliably monitor structural and earthquake-induced ground motions and vibration frequencies of structures.

  • Recently the monitoring system of tool setup in high speed precision machining tool is required for manufacturing products that have highly complex and small shape, high precision and high function. It is very important to reduce time to setup tool in order to improve the machining precision and productivity and to protect the breakage of cutting tool as the shape of product is smaller and more complex. Generally, the combination of errors that geometrical clamping error of fixing tool at the spindle of machining center and the asynchronized error of driving mechanism causes that the run-out of tool reaches to 3∼20 times of the thickness of cutting chip. And also the run-out is occurred by the misalignment between axis of tool shank and axis of spindle and spindle bearing in high speed rotation. Generally, high speed machining is considered when the rotating speed is more than 8,000 rpm. At that time, the life time of tool is reduced to about 50% and the roughness of machining surface is worse as the run-out is increased to 10 micron. The life time of tool could be increased by making monitoring of tool-setting easy, quick and precise in high speed machining center. This means the consumption of tool is much more reduced. And also it reduces the manufacturing cost and increases the productivity by reducing the tool-setup time of operator. In this study, in order to establish the concept of tool-setting monitoring the measuring method of the geometrical error of tool system is studied when the spindle is stopped. And also the measuring method of run-out, dynamic error of tool system, is studied when the spindle is rotated in 8,000 ∼ 60,000 rpm. The dynamic phenomena of tool-setup is analyzed by implementing the monitoring system of rotating tool system and the noncontact measuring system of micro displacement in high speed.

  • A specific and rapid real-time PCR assay for detecting Ralstonia solanacearum in horticultural soil and plant tissues was developed in this study. The specific primers RSF/RSR were designed based on the upstream region of the UDP-3-O-acyl-GlcNAc deacetylase gene from R. solanacearum, and a PCR product of 159 bp was amplified specifically from 28 strains of R. solanacearum, which represent all genetically diverse AluI types and all 6 biovars, but not from any other nontarget species. The detection limit of $10^2\;CFU/g$ tomato stem and horticultural soil was achieved in this real-time PCR assay. The high sensitivity and specificity observed with field samples as well as with artificially infected samples suggested that this method might be a useful tool for detection and quantification of R. solanacearum in precise forecast and diagnosis.
