Development of k-$\epsilon$ model for prediction of transition in flat plate under free stream with high intensity (고난류강도 자유유동에서 평판 경계층 천이의 예측을 위한 난류 모형 개발)

  • A modified k-$\epsilon$ model is proposed for calculation of transitional boundary layer flows. In order to develop the eddy viscosity model for the problem, the flow is divided into three regions; namely, pre-transition region, transition region and fully turbulent region. The pre-transition eddy-viscosity is formulated by extending the mixing Length concept. In the transition region, the eddy-viscosity model employs two length scales, i.e., pre-transition length scale and turbulent length scale pertaining to the regions upstream and the downstream, respectively, and a university model of stream-wise intermittency variation is used as a function bridging the pre-transition region and the fully turbulent region. The proposed model is applied to calculate three benchmark cases of the transitional boundary layer flows with different free-stream turbulent intensity ( $1\%{\~}6\%$ ) under zero-pressure gradient. It was found that the profiles of mom velocity and turbulent intensity, local maximum of velocity fluctuations, their locations as well as the stream-wise variation of integral properties such as skin friction, shape factor and maximum velocity fluctuations are very satisfactorily Predicted throughout the flow regions.

  • In this paper, we consider on hard contact transition control strategies. Hard contact transition phase can be divided into two definitely different phases,“Pre-Transition Phase”and“Transition Phase”. Here we focus on the“Pre-Transition Phase”and we propose three control methods. First, we propose a novel con-troller named as “Suppression Controller”which is not only stable but also simple to implement. Second, we present passive damper named as“Flexible-Damped Joint”Which is good solution in Circumventing pre-transition Phase. Third, We suggest a stable and simple controller which can maximize joint damping and minimize recontact velocity in flexible-damped joint. It is named as“Joint Damping Controller”.

Zircaloy-4의 고압 수증기 산화 및 수소침투

  • Zircaloy-4의 수증기 산화와 이에 따른 수소침투의 압력에 대한 영향을 평가하기 위해 pre-transition과 post-transition의 영역에서 1~103 기압의 압력 범위에서 실험을 수행하였다. 그리고 시편의 edge부분에서의 산화율 및 수소침투 가속화 현상을 알아보기 위해 시편의 edge 분율에 따른 산화율 및 수소침투량 실험을 압력영향과 함께 수행하였다. 또 steam corrosion과 waterside corrosion의 비교를 위해 산화율에 따른 수소침투를 평가하였다. 잠정적인 결과로서 pre-transition 영역, 즉, 37$0^{\circ}C$, 72시간에서 103기압에서의 산화가 1 기압에서의 산화보다 약 50% 증가된 값을 가졌고,post-transition 영역, 즉, $700^{\circ}C$, 210분에서는 최고 150%의 산화 가속화를 관찰할 수 있었으며 수소 침투량 역시 산화가 가속화된 만큼 증가하였다. 그리고 압력이 증가함에 따라 산화율이 점진적으로 증가함을 pre-transition영역과 post-transition영역에서 관찰할 수 있었다. 시편의 edge 분율에 따른 산화율의 변화에 대해서는 37$0^{\circ}C$, 72시간의 경우 산화량이 적어 별다른 영향을 관찰할 수 없었으나, $700^{\circ}C$, 210분에서는 시편의 표면적에 대한 edge의 비율이 증가할수록 산화율이 증가하고 있음을 볼 수 있다. 하지만 기존의 논문들에서 주장하고 있는 뚜렷한 edge의 영향을 관측하기는 어려웠다.

  • A modified $textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$model is proposed for calculation of transitional boundary-layer flows with changing pressure gradient. In order to develop the model for this problem, the flow is divided into three regions; pre-transition region, transition region and fully turbulent region. The effect of pressure gradient is taken into account in stream-wise intermittency factor, which bridges the eddy-viscosity models in the pre-transition region and the fully turbulent region. From intermittency data in various flows, Narashima's intermittency function, F(${\gamma}$), has been found to be proportional to $\chi$$^{n}$ according to the extent of pressure gradient. Three empirical correlations of intermittency factor being analyzed, the best one was chosen to calculate three benchmark cases of bypass transition flows with different free-stream turbulence intensity under arbitrary pressure gradient. It was found that the variations of skin friction and shape factor as well as the profiles of mean velocity in the transition region were very satisfactorily predicted.

  • During the Pre-service Inspection for Wolsong Unit 3&4 in 1997/1998 respectively, 17 Distorted Roll Transition indications(over expanded beyond tubesheet secondary face) were identified at the Unit 4 (S/G B, D). Six(6) tubes out of these tubes were plugged in 1998. However the first Periodic Inspection identified additional 110 indications in 1999 and 2000. The additionally identified 110 indication call, not reported at the Pre-service Inspection, are; 2 Not-Finally-Expanded-Tubes and 108 Distorted Roll Transition tubes. Design limit of each Steam Generator tube Plugging is 6.4%. Plugging was performed by the Steam Generator manufacturer under the warranty. When Distorted Roll Transition indications were first identified on the Unit 4 in 1998 the degree of Over-expansion was measured using an inner dial-gage to make the disposition of Nonconformance report. 2 Not-Finally-Expanded-Tubes were plugged and 10 tubes out of 108 Distorted Roll Transition Tubes were also plugged as a preventive measure.

Pressure Effects on Zircaloy-4 Steamside Corrosion and Hydrogen Pick-up

  • Experiments on the steamside corrosion and hydrogen pick-up of Zircaloy-4 under high pressure up to 10.3MPa are carried out to estimate the pressure effects on the kinetics. Temperature and reaction time are determined to be 37$0^{\circ}C$ and 72hours for the pre-transition test and $700^{\circ}C$ and 210minutes for the post-transition test, respectively. Results show that under 10.3MPa pressure the oxidation reaction is 50% and 100% enhanced in the pre-and the post-transition regime, respectively. Total amount of hydrogen uptake in the reaction is proportionally increased as corrosion weight gain is elevated. However, pick-up fraction is not affected by the high pressure. The fraction is almost twice greater than that in the waterside corrosion. Edges in the specimens play a certain role in the enhancement, especially in the post-transition regime. To identify physical property changes of oxide film such as micro-cracks or micro-pores, careful and thorough examination must be needed with some special techniques.

  • The propose of this study was to develop the new pre-parent education program for couples in i=transition to parenthood. This program was consisted three process, total eight sessions. The first process(the basic process) has two sessions. This process was designed to understand the whole parenthood, and to cope the role strain in early parenting period. The second process has three sessions, designed to enrich the marital relationship before the baby was born. And the Third process(parent-child process) has three sessions, too. Especially in last sessions, parent can exercise infant caring, and adapt fetus to their family member.

The Effect of Retirement Expectation on Pre-retirement Planning Program (직장인의 은퇴기대가 은퇴준비교육요구에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to elicit the multi-dimensions of retirement expectations, and explore sub-factors of retirement expectations which predict the possibility of worker's participation to each pre-retirement planning programs. The major findings were as follows: first, this study shows that there are four sub-factors; Imposed frustration, New beginning, Transition to rest, Continuing. And there was a significant difference in retirement expectation according to sex, age, income, and health status. Second, the major affecting factors on participation in pre-retirement planning programs were sex, age, job, educational attainment, and health status. Third, those who have retirement expectations of 'Imposed frustration' tend to attend re-employment, leisure, and health education. Those who have retirement expectations of 'Transition to rest' tend to attend re-employment, inauguration education. And those who have retirement of 'Continuing' tend to attend leisure education.

Study of Phase Transition of Copper(II)-phthalocyanine using a Near Field Scanning Microwave Microscope (근접장 마이크로파 현미경을 이용한 Copper(II)-phthalocyanine의 Phase Transition 연구)

  • We report the changes of the microwave reflection coefficients S$_{11}$ of copper(II)-phthalocyanine (CuPc) thin films by using a near-field microwave microscope(NSMM) in order to understand the phase transition of CuPc. For a NSMM system, a high-quality microstrip resonator coupled with a dielectric resonator was used. CuPc thin films were prepared on the pre-heated glass substrates using a thermal evaporation method. The reflection coefficients S$_{11}$ of CuPc thin films were changed by the dependence on the substrate pre-heating temperatures. By comparing reflection coefficient S$_{11}$ and crystal structures, we found the phase transition of CuPc thin films from $\alpha$-phase to $\beta$-phase at the substrate heating temperature 200 $^{\circ}C$./TEX>.
