  • 컴퓨터 부하는 현대사회 전반에 걸쳐 널리 사용되고 있다. 개인용 컴퓨터의 스위칭 모드 전원공급 장치는 고조파 전류를 발생시키는 주된 발생원이다. 고조파 전류는 전압파형 왜곡, 과다한 중성선 전류, 측정오차, 컴퓨터 일시 정지등 많은 고조파 장해를 일으킬 수 있다. 본 논문의 목적은 단상 개인용 컴퓨터 부하의 고조파 해석용 등가회로 모델링과 고조파 전류를 저감하기 위한 상품화된 직렬 동조 필터를 국제 고조파 관리 기준인 IEEE 519-1992와 IEC 1000-3-2를 근거로 평가하는데 있다.

  • In this paper, a control scheme with the capability of high efficiency, which is realized by predicting the conditions of a load power and an input power, is proposed for the uninterruptible power supply (UPS). Generally, on-line UPS system supplies a constant voltage and a constant frequency (CVCF). However, the efficiency of the On-line UPS system can be reduced due to the switching losses of semiconductor devices during the power conversion. The these losses are improved by the proposed smart UPS with the high efficiency drive system, which is realized by analysing and predicting the conditions of a load power and an input power.

  • This paper describes the 40kV solid state pulsed power supply for environmental applications. The output specifications of the pulsed power supply are 40kV, 300A, 3kHz, and average output power of 13kW. In order to generate a high voltage, a series stacking cell structure is used which is charged in parallel and discharged in series. Due to this structure, there is no dynamic voltage balancing problem as well as static voltage balancing problem for switches used in high voltage pulse power supplies. To verify this pulse power supply design, PSpice modeling was performed. Finally, experimental results with non-inductive resistive load and gas treatment reactor proved the reliability of the solid state pulsed power supply.

  • This paper reviews the characteristics technical trends in Power MOSFET technology that are leading to improvements in power loss for power electronic system. The power electronic technology requires the marriage of power device technology with MOS-gated device and bipolar analog circuits. The technology challenges involved in combining power handling capability with finger gate, trench array, super junction structure, and SiC transistor are described, together with examples of solutions for telecommunications, motor control, and switch mode power supplies.

  • Induction heating can convert electrical energy to thermal energy with high conversion efficiency and quick heating. Currently, a current source rectifier/inverter-fed parallel resonant circuit is widely used as an induction heating power supply for forging applications. However, the conventional induction heating power supplies composed of phase-controlled rectifier and SCR inverter have low efficiency and low power factor at input side, and require additional starting circuitry. So this paper proposes new induction heating power supply topologies for forging applications which have high power factor, high efficiency, and large output power. It also suggests detailed design guideline.

  • This paper deals with the experimental evaluation on power loss of a double-side permanent magnet synchronous motor/generator (DPMSM/G) applied to a flywheel energy storage system (FESS). Power loss is one of the most important problems in the FESS, which supplies the electrical energy from the mechanical rotation energy, because the power loss decreases the efficiency of energy storage and conversion of capability FESS. In this paper, the power losses of coreless DPMSM/G are separated by the mechanical and rotor eddy current losses in each operating mode. Moreover, the rotor eddy current loss is calculated by the 3-D finite element analysis (FEA) method. The analysis result is validated by separating the power loss as electromagnetic loss and mechanical loss by a spin up/down test.

  • In this paper, a prototype of power supply with a power factor correction is proposed. As a unique feature the proposed power supply, a status monitoring circuit is embedded on the switching power supply. The status monitoring circuit analyzes the functionality of the system and saves the key components of the power supply in the case of malfunctions. The results of various fault tests are reported to verify the operation and performance of the proposed method. This paper discusses the experimental results of the monitoring module and provides the technical information to monitor, predict, and troubleshoot the system against the potential failure of power supplies for real applications.

  • Line-Current harmonics resulting from ac to dc power conversion interfere with power system operation and reduce power factor, hence resulting in increasing power source unnecessarily. This study describes a 3 phase phase-controlled converter eliminating low frequency harmonics in the output by inserting notches. Notch points are calculated by Newton-raphson method, The impacts of the choppings on ac and dc sides are analyzed in the steady state. Potential applications of the study are dc motor controls, high power dc power supplies for telecommunications, static var compensators and HVDC.

  • Vehicle electric power system, which consists of two major components; an alternator and a battery, supplies electric power to vehicle electric and electronic systems. In recent years, bigger power supply is required for the rapid demand of the number of vehicle electric and electronic systems. It is important that vehicle power system should be analyzed exactly. For the simulation of vehicle electric power system, appropriate component model of vehicle electric power system should be chosen. In this paper, a simplified and accurate battery model is developed to obtain the battery parameters, and a Variable Alternator Terminal Voltage Model is introduced to described an alternator. The case study shows that simulation results using the suggested models are well agreed with the experiments.

  • The Energy is the basis for almost all industrial activities and domestic needs. But recently there are increasing concerns internationally over environmental problems and consequent climate changes caused by the excessive use of fossil fuels. Furthermore the price of crude oil is increasing steadily with unstable supplies. In order to solve these national energy problems, the utilization of Ocean Energy is introduced as one of the best alternative technologies for the future. OTEC Power Plant has been installed at the West Inchon Power Plant Site. Temperature differences of $20{\sim}25^{\circ}C$ have been utilized for plant operations, where R22 is used as a working fluid. The system is composed of low pressure turbine, plate type heat exchanger, and pumps. In the present investigation the experimental results, such as gross power, net power and objective function, are analysed when temperature differences change from the reference design point.
