In times of war or emergencies, weapon systems, such as radars, must receive stable power. This can be achieved using improved onboard portable power systems made of steel containers. However, a breakdown can occur in the event of random vibration during transportation via a vehicle or train. Electrical-power shortages or restrictions pose a significant threat to security. In this study, Composite Wheeled Vehicle(CWV) data and rail cargo data with Acceleration Spectral Density(ASD), specified in MIL-STD-810H METHOD 514.8, were interpreted as input data of the three-axis random vibration method using ANSYS 19.2. Modal analysis was performed up to 500 Hz, and deformations in modes 1 to 117 were calculated to utilize all ASD data. The maximum equivalent stress in the three-axis direction was obtained using a random vibration analysis. Similarly, the margin of safety was calculated using the derived equivalent stress and material properties. Overall, the analysis verified that the portable container designed for the power supply system satisfied the required vibration demands.
Vibration-based Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) systems use field measurements of operational signals, which are distorted by noise from many sources. Reducing this noise allows a more accurate assessment of the original "clean" signal and improves analysis results. The implementation of a noise reduction methodology for the Modal Distribution Method (MDM) is reported here. The spectral subtraction method is a popular broadband noise reduction technique used in speech signal processing. Its basic principle is to subtract the magnitude of the noise from the total noisy signal in the frequency domain. The underlying assumption of the method is that noise is additive and uncorrelated with the signal. In speech signal processing, noise can be measured when there is no signal. In the MDM, however, the magnitude of the noise profile can be estimated only from the magnitude of the Power Spectral Density (PSD) at higher frequencies than the frequency range of the true signal associated with structural vibrations under the additional assumption of white noise. The implementation of the spectral subtraction method to MDM may decrease the energy of the individual mode. In this work, a modification of the spectral subtraction method is introduced that enables the conservation of the energies of individual modes. The main difference is that any (negative) bars with a height below zero after subtraction are set to the absolute value of their height. Both noise reduction methods are implemented in the MDM, and an application example is presented that demonstrates its effectiveness when used with a signal corrupted by noise.

In this paper, we study the coexistence of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)-based systems beyond 3G (B3G) and point-to-point (P-P) fixed service (FS) microwave systems. The advanced general analytical model derived via a power spectral density (PSD) analysis proposed in this paper has two advantages in comparison with the conventional minimum coupling loss (MCL) method. First, the interfering signal power that appears in the band of a victim system can be easily assessed without a spectrum emission mask. Second, when transmit power is not allocated to some subcarriers overlapping the band of the victim system in order to mitigate B3G OFDM-based systems interference with other systems, the general analytical model can successfully assess the interference from the B3G systems into FS systems, whereas the MCL method incorporating the spectrum emission mask cannot be applied in the presence of the same interference condition. The proposed model can be derived in a closed form and is simply implemented with the help of simulation, and thus the solution can be obtained in significantly reduced time. Through application of the proposed model, coexistence results are analyzed in a co-channel and adjacent channel with respect to guard band and minimum separation distance.
EEG signal is analyzed by two methods, analysis by visual inspection of EEG recording sheets and analysis by quantative method. Generally visual inspection method is used in the clinical field. But this method has its limitation because EEG signal is random signal. Therefore it is necessary to analyze EEG signals quantatively to obtain more precise and objective information of neural and brain. In this paper, power spectrum of EEG signal was estimated by AR(AutoRegressive) model in the frequency domain. This process is useful as a preprocessing stage for tomographic brain mapping (TBM) at each frequency, band. As a method for estimating power spectral density of EEG signals, periodogram method, autocorrelation method. covariance method, modified covariance method, and Burg method are tested in this paper.
The main objective of this study is to examine the accuracy of the complete quadratic combination (CQC) rule with the modal responses defined by the ordinates of the uniform hazard spectra (UHS) to evaluate the peak responses of the multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) systems subjected to nonstationary seismic excitations. For the probabilistic analysis of the peak responses, it is considered that the seismic excitations can be modeled using evolutionary power spectra density functions with uncertain model parameters. More specifically, a seismological model and the Kanai-Tajimi model with the boxcar or the exponential modulating functions were used to define the evolutionary power spectral density functions in this study. A set of UHS was obtained based on the probabilistic analysis of transient responses of single-degree-of-freedom systems subjected to the seismic excitations. The results of probabilistic analysis of the peak responses of MDOF systems were obtained, and compared with the peak responses calculated by using the CQC rule with the modal responses given by the UHS. The comparison seemed to indicate that the use of the CQC rule with the commonly employed correlation coefficient and the peak modal responses from the UHS could lead to significant under- or over-estimation when contributions from each of the modes are similarly significant.
Transient vibration generated by developing localized fault in gear can be used as indicators in gear fault detection. This vibration signal suffers from the background noise such as gear meshing frequency and its harmonics and broadband noise. Thus in order to extract the information about the only gear fault from the raw vibration signal measured on the gearbox this signal is processed to reduce the background noise with many kinds of signal-processing tools. However, these signal-processing tools are often very complex and time waste. Thus. in this paper. we propose a novel approach detecting the damage of gearbox and analyzing its pattern using the raw vibration signal. In order to do this, the residual signal. which consists of the sideband components of the gear meshing frequent) and its harmonics frequencies, is extracted from the raw signal by the power spectral density (PSD) to obtain the information about the fault and is used as the input data of the artificial neural network (ANN) for analysis of the pattern of gear fault. This novel approach has been very successfully applied to the damage analysis of a laboratory gearbox.
This paper presents a time-domain approach for analyzing nonlinear random vibrations of long-span suspended cables under transversal wind. A consistent continuous model of the cable, fully accounting for geometrical nonlinearities inherent in cable behavior, is adopted. The effects of spatial correlation are properly included by modeling wind velocity fluctuation as a random function of time and of a single spatial variable ranging over cable span, namely as a one-variate bi-dimensional (1V-2D) random field. Within the context of a Galerkin's discretization of the equations governing cable motion, a very efficient Monte Carlo-based technique for second-order analysis of the response is proposed. This procedure starts by generating sample functions of the generalized aerodynamic loads by using the spectral decomposition of the cross-power spectral density function of wind turbulence field. Relying on the physical meaning of both the spectral properties of wind velocity fluctuation and the mode shapes of the vibrating cable, the computational efficiency is greatly enhanced by applying a truncation procedure according to which just the first few significant loading and structural modal contributions are retained.
I present an analysis of the long-term evolution of the fluxes of six active galactic nuclei (AGN) - 0923+392, 3C 111, 3C 273, 3C 345, 3C 454.3, and 3C 84 - in the frequency range 80 - 267 GHz using archival calibration data of the IRAM Plateau de Bure Interferometer. Our dataset spans a long timeline of ~14 years with 974 - 3027 flux measurements per source. We find strong (factors ~2-8) flux variability on timescales of years for all sources. The flux density distributions of five out of six sources show clear signatures of bi- or even multimodality. Our sources show mostly steep (alpha~0.5-1), variable spectral indices that indicate outflow dominated emission; the variability is most probably due to optical depth variations. The power spectra globally correspond to red-noise spectra with five sources being located between the cases of white and flicker noise and one source (3C 111) being closer to the case of random walk noise. For three sources the low-frequency ends of their power spectra appear to be upscaled in spectral power by factors ~2-3 with respect to the overall powerlaws. We conclude that the source emission cannot be described by uniform stochastic emission processes; instead, a distinction of "quiescent" and (maybe multiple) "flare" states of the source emission appears to be necessary.
The purpose of this paper is to compare with estimation of equivalent fatigue load in time domain and frequency domain and estimate the fatigue life of structure with multi-axial vibration loading. The fatigue analysis with two methods is implemented with various signals like random, sinusoidal signals. Also an equivalent fatigue life estimated by rainflow cycle counting in time domain is compared with results estimated with probability density function of each signal in frequency domain. In case of frequency domain, equivalent fatigue life can estimate through Dirlik's method with probability density function. And the work proposed in this paper compared the fatigue damage accumulated under uni-axial loading to that induced by multi-axial loading. The comparison is preformed for a simple cantilever beam, which is exposed to vibrations of several directions. For verification of estimation performance of fatigue life, results are compared to those of FEM analysis (ANSYS).
