A lot of DSM (Demand Side Management) programs have been implemented to promote the effective utilization of resources and the rational development of power industry, and various economic analyses and policy-based studies on DSM have been executed to determine effective subsidy budget. In this paper, a new objective function for deciding an optimal incentive allocation among various programs is presented by introducing the maximization of the total saving power of the programs. For simplicity, the objective function and the constraints is linearized to apply LP(Linear Programming) method. LP program based on Simplex Method was developed by MATLAB. An optimal incentive allocation of 4 DSM programs is presented by the use of the developed MATLAB program.

We consider the D2D sum utility maximization in the cellular system. D2D links reuse the uplink resource of cellular system. This reuse may cause severe interference to cellular users. To protect the cellular users, interference limit from the D2D links is required. In this setting, D2D sum utility maximization problem is investigated. Each D2D link has limited transmit power budget. Because optimum solution may require global information between links and computational complexity, we propose the distributed algorithm which only require the local information from each D2D link and simple broadcasting. Simulation results are provided to verify the performance of the proposed algorithm.
Environmental issues and the need to reduce energy consumption for lowering operating costs have pushed power efficiency to become one of the major issues of current research in the field of wireless networks. This paper addresses a number of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) precoding and scheduling techniques across the PHY and MAC layers that can operate under a reduced link budget and collectively improve the transmit power efficiency of a base station, while maintaining the same levels of service. Different MIMO transmission and precoding schemes proposed for LTE, achieving varying degrees of multiuser diversity in both the time, frequency as well as the space domain, are examined. Several fairness-aware resource allocation algorithms are applied to the considered MIMO schemes and a detailed analysis of the tradeoffs between power efficiency and quality of service is presented. This paper explicitly examines the performance of a system serving real-time, VoIP traffic under different traffic loading conditions and transmit power levels. It is demonstrated that by use of efficient scheduling and resource allocation techniques significant savings in terms of consumed energy can be achieved, without compromising QoS.

This paper proposes a method for choosing the best composite power system expansion plan considering probabilistic reliability criterion. The proposed method was modeled as the minimization of the investment budget (economics) for constructing new transmission lines subject to not only deterministic(demand constraint) but also probabilistic reliability criterion(LOLE) with considering the uncertainties of the system elements. This is achieved by modeling the power system expansion problem as an integer programming one. The method solves for the optimal strategy using a probabilistic theory based branch and bound method that utilizes a network flow approach and the maximum flow-minimum cut set theorem. Although the proposed method is applied to a simple sample study, the test results demonstrate a fact that the proposed method is suitable for solving the power system expansion planning problem subject to practical uncertainties for future.

We studied the value of a nuclear power plant by considering Koreans' willingness to pay (WTP) for neutralizing the various problems caused by building and operating a new plant. For this, we used a conjoint analysis and ordered logistic regression. We then compared the WTP estimates between various segment groups. The results revealed that each household was willing to pay an additional 99,677 Korean Won (KRW)/mo on average to resolve the negative impacts from a nuclear plant. Therefore, the yearly cognitive and economic value of a nuclear plant in Korea was about 19 trillion KRW. Through a segment analysis, we found that the more educated, younger, and poorer groups gave higher cognitive values than the less educated, older, and richer groups, respectively. Also, people who lived far from a plant gave higher values than people living near a plant, and people with more knowledge about or interest in nuclear energy gave higher values than people with less knowledge or interest. People who felt that nuclear energy is necessary gave higher values to nuclear energy than those who did not. Our results can be used as bases to set targets for promoting nuclear energy and pursuing a national project of building a nuclear power plant.
Science museum are dealing with exhibits on field of changing science and technology, and previous research suggested that exhibits replacement should carried out at least every 5 years. In order to efficiently replace exhibits within a limited budget, various studies analyzed visitors' preferences to exhibits. Recently, studies use various technologies to collect the data on visitors' preferences automatically, but almost of studies had a high dependency on their visitors such as visitors needed to carry specific sub-devices in the museums for gathering data. As complementing the limitations of previous research, this study introduces the improved method which is able to automatically collect and quantify visitors' preferences to exhibits using TensorFlow, a deep learning technology. By the proposed analysis method, it was possible to collect 2,520 data of visitors' experience on exhibits in totality. Based on collected data, attraction power and holding power indicating the preference of visitors on exhibits were able to be calculated. The result also confirmed antecedent research conclusion that the attraction power and holding power of the exhibit which consists of 3 dimensional structures work are higher than other exhibits. As a conclusion, the proposed method will provide more convenient data collection method for detecting visitors' preference.

Recently, a policy has been enforced to supply Plug-in Electric Vehicles (PEVs) but this may require reinforcement of the power system depending on its clustering because PEVs are charged directly from power systems. On the other hand, as the reinforcement of power system is limited by time and budget, it is important to supply the charging demand of PEVs efficiently using the existing power systems to increase the diffusion of PEVs. This paper establishes a charging schedule for Plug-in Electric Vehicles (PEVs) considering the power system constraints. For this, the required amount and time of the charging demand for an individual PEV was modeled to integrate into power systems based on the driving pattern and charging tariff of PEV. Furthermore, the charging schedule of PEVs was established to meet the power system constraints by calculating the operating conditions of the power systems with PEVs.

Spectrum spreading, in its general form, can be conceived as an artificial expansion of the signal bandwidth with respect to the minimum Nyquist band required to transmit the desired information. Spreading can be functional to several objectives, including resilience to interference and jammers and reduction of power spectral density levels. In the paper, signal spreading is manly used for increasing the received energy, thus satisfying link budget constraints, for terminals with low aperture antennas, without increasing the transmitted EIRP. As a matter of fact, in many mobile scenarios, even when MODCOD configurations with very low spectral efficiency (i.e. QPSK-1/4) in DVB-S2 standard, are used, the link budget cannot be closed. Spectrum spreading has been recently proposed as a technique to improve system performance without introducing additional MODCOD configurations under the constraint of fixed power spectrum density level at the transmitter side. To this aim, the design of spectrum spreading techniques shall keep into consideration requirements such as spectrum mask, physical layer performance, link budget, hardware reuse, robustness, complexity, and backward compliance with existing commercial equipments. The proposed implementation allows to fully reuse the standard DVB-S2 circuitry and is inserted as an 'inner layer' in the standard DVB-S2 chain.

Space debris has been a major issue recently for the space-active nations because its growing population is expected to increase the collision risk with operational satellites. Radar and electro-optical system has been used for space debris surveillance, which may cause unnecessary anti-collision manoeuvers due to their low tracking accuracy. So an additional tracking system is required to improve the predicted orbit accuracy and then to jude the anti-collision maneouvers more efficiently. The laser tracking system has been considered as an alternative to decrease these unnecessary manoeuvers. Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute has been developing a space object laser tracking system which is capable of laser tracking for satellites with retro-reflectors and for space debris using high power laser, and satellite imaging using adaptive optics. In this study, the tracking capability is analyzed for space debris using high power laser based on link budget, false alarm probability and signal detection probability.

We need measures that can come up with alternative about fishery living zone and enhance local acceptance for responding to the increase in the proportion of renewable energy production and construction of 12GW Offshore wind power according to Korea's Renewable Energy 3020 initiative and Korean-version New Deal. In this study, We suggest that differentiation plans of co-location model in connection with offshore wind power generation suitable for the East Sea. The East Sea is an optimal site for building of a floating offshore wind power generation(FOWPG) field. It is expected that economic effects like energy production, aquatic resource development and tourism industrialization by farming bluefin tuna which is high valued fish and suitable for offshore aquaculture on public waters in FOWPG field. And we can confirm that budget reduction, smart management by sharing operation management technology and increase in fishermen income.
