The absorption rate of each products were in the order of freeze dried coffee, spray dried coffee, freeze drie4 ginseng extract, spray dried ginseng extract, ginger tea, black tea, citrus juice Powder and ssang wha tea. 3. Most of the products such as freeze dried coffee, spray dried coffee, freeze dried ginseng extract, ginger tea and black tea have shorter than a month of shelf life. 4. The stability of the products were greatly affected by its desorption properties than the degree of desorption of moisture. 5. Water vapor permeability of packaging materials which are laminated Al-foil with polythylene and glassin paper were mainly affected of thickness of Al-foil and polyethylene.
Green Tea consists of 15-30% catechins (a type of polyphenol), which act as super antioxidants, inhibitory action against aging process. Antioxidants fight radical-free oxygen, an agent which can begin the process of cancer by damaging essential body chemicals and harming DNA. This study was peformed to develop the elderly diet using Green Tea as an inhibitory action against aging process. Nokchaborijook (Baley gruel added rice powder and Green Tea) was manufactured by various levels of Green Tea(1, 4, 7%) and the grinding period(15, 30, 45 sec). The optimum levels of added Green Tea and grinding periods on Nokchaborijook were determined with the results of sensory evaluation by response surface methodology and analysis of composition. The Anti-oxidant Vitamin A, C, E and Flavonoid were increased with increased levels of Green Tea and grinding periods be decreased. As the levels of Green Tea and grinding periods were increased, the green color and penetrated force became stronger. Among the sensory attributes, Bitterness, Green Tea Flavor and Hashness were greater depending on increasing Green Tea. Jujube flavor was greater relying on decreasing Green Tea. Greenness and spreadability of particles were increased as both the amounts of Green Tea and the grinding period were increased. This result was used to determine the optimum conditions of adding levels of Green Tea and grinding periods. The optimum conditions of Nokchaborijook was established as adding of 5.8% Green Tea grinded for 15 seconds.
The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum condition for producing tea leaf Jeung-pyun that does not contain added parched tea leafs (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2%) while producing Jeung-pyun that has a variety of functional ingredients and to investigate the possibility of making practical application of tea leafs. Moisture contents were 56 ~66% and there were no significant differences among the samples. The pH of Jeung-pyun samples was 5.65~5.74. The L-value decreased as the amount of added tea leaf increased, and the a-value was low in the group made with added tea leafs. The b-value was high in the 1% added group and had a tendency to increase vs the control group as amount of added tea leaf increased. In the groups with added tea leaf the volume was evaluated as being higher in the order of 1>1.5>2%. The specific volume of the group with added tea leaf was evaluated as being higher in the order of 1>1.5>2%. Sensory characteristics of the group with added tea leaf were evaluated as being high. For characteristics of cell uniformity, rice wine flavor, and sweetness, the control group was evaluated as being high, and for characteristics of color, moistness, and softness the 1% added group was evaluated as high. Astringency was evaluated as being high in the 2% added group. Texture profile analysis was conducted after samples were maintained in an incubator at $20^{\circ}C$ for 0, 1, 3, 5, and 7 days. Characteristics for hardness, gumminess, chewiness tended to increase with longer periods of storage. Characteristics for cohesiveness, springiness tended to decrease as the storage period increased. As determined by this study, addition of 1% tea leaf was the most favorable method for making use of tea leafs the production of Jeung-pyun and a potentiality for the use of tea leafs in food was discorvered.

This study was carried out to establish the manufacturing formulation of tea-bag type garlic tea. In order to eliminate of garlic-specific odor and taste, the masking effect of various additives against garlic flavor was determined with sensory evaluation. Leaves of green tea, arrowroot and Solomon's seal were screened as highly effective auxiliary ingredients in garlic tea. When two materials among the selected three auxiliary materials were mixed the same percentage, overall flavor of garlic tea synergistically was enhanced. The optimum concentration of garlic powder and stevioside as a sweetener were 20∼30% and 1%, respectively. Therefore, three types formulation of garlic tea was establish. When the color, turbidity and total solid concentration of three formulated garlic teas were compared with those of commercially available formulated green tea containing unpolished rice, the latter was more yellowish color and the former was more superior to turbidity and total solid concentration.

Mustard leaf kimchi added different ratios of pumpkin powder(P) and green tea powder(G) were investigated by measuring changes of physicochemical, microbiological and sensory characteristics during fermentation at 5℃. The pH and total acidity were changed slowly until 20 days, and then changed rapidly for 20∼40 days in all mustard leaf kimchi groups. The pH and acidity of mustard leaf kimchi added 0.5% G was the most slowly changed compared to the other groups. Reducing sugar content was highest in mustard leaf kimchi added 0.5% P at early stage of fermentation, but the reduing sugar content of this mustard leaf kimchi group was decreased more rapidly than those of the other groups during fermentation. The numbers of lactic acid bacteria and total bacteria were highest in 0.5% P added group and lowest in 0.5% G added group. The mustard leaf kimchi added 0.3% P and 0.2% G was relatively high in number of Leuconostoc sp., on the contrary low in Lactobacillus sp. compared to the other groups during fermentation. Changes of Hunter's color values, especially yellowness, and hardness were smaller in each mustard leaf kimchi added 0.5% G, and 0.3% P and 0.2% G than the other groups. Sensory scores of taste, odor and overall acceptability were highest in mustard leaf kimchi added 0.3% P and 0.2% G. Based on these results, it is suggested that mustard leaf kimchi added 0.3% P and 0.2% G was the best group among mustard leaf kimchi groups.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to analyze the patent trend in Traditional Korean Tea. In this paper, we investigate the diversity of Korean Tea registered as patents focusing on the kinds of medicinal herbs used, processing methods, and types of tea. Methods : We collected patents data using KIPRIS, and WIPS database. We conducted Quantitative Analysis by year and main patentee, and Qualitative Analysis by patent's contents. Results : 313 patents are selected from 2001 to May 2017. The number of patents have been on the rise and reached 44 in 2014. Individuals have registered the most patents, followed by companies, Industry-University Cooperation Foundation, and local autonomous entities. Ginger, Omija and Cactus were used at high frequency among 109 tea containing one medicinal herb. Licorice and Jujube were frequently used among 204 tea containing more than two kinds of medicinal herbs. In classification of patent by efficacy, 'health promotion and function recovery' and 'treatment and prevention of diseases' are most frequently specified. 128 patents are presenting processing methods for medicinal herbs in the order of roasting, fermentation, and fumigation. Among 164 patents presenting tea types, liquid type accounts for more than half and there are 67 leached tea, and 32 powder tea. Conclusion : The analyses results showed that lots of new recipes, efficacy, processing methods and tea types are being studied and registered as patents. In order to help Traditional Korean Tea industry to develop, active patent registration and further study about up-to-date patent trend would be required.
Accelerators are used to speed up the construction by accelerating the setting time which helps in early removal of formwork thus leading to faster construction rate. Admixtures are used in mortar and concrete during or after mixing to improve certain properties of material which cannot be achieved in conventional cement mortar and concrete. The various industrial by products make nuisance and are hazardous to ecosystem as well. These wastes can be used in the construction industries to reduce the consumption of cement/aggregates, cost; and save the energy and environment by utilising waste and eliminate their disposal problem as well. The effect of calcium nitrate and triethanolamine (TEA) as accelerators and marble powder (MP) as waste material on the various properties of cement paste and mortar has been studied in the present work. The replacement ratio of MP was 0-10% @ 2.5% by weight of cement. The addition of calcium nitrate was 0% and 1%; and variation of addition of TEA was 0-0.1@ 0.025% and 0.1-1.0@ 0.1% by weight of cement. On the basis of setting time, some mix proportions were selected and further investigated. Setting time and soundness of cement paste; compressive strength and microstructure of mortar mix of selected mix proportions were studied experimentally at 3, 7 and 28 days aging. Results showed that use of MP, calcium nitrate, TEA and their combination reduced setting time of cement paste for all the mixes. Addition of calcium nitrate increased the compressive strength at all curing ages while MP and TEA decreased the compressive strength. The mechanism of additives was discussed through scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis of the specimens.

The golden apple snail (Pomacea canaliculata) has been utilized as a natural and eco-friendly control of weeds in rice paddy fields. However, P. canaliculata can damage other crops. In this study, the effectiveness of plant extracts from various natural sources that are reportedly effective against pests in the control of P. canaliculata was investigated. The four plant extracts were effective against P. canaliculata and ranked in descending order as green tea seed (Camellia sinensis) > root of red spider lily (Lycoris radiata) > leaves of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) > root of sophora (Sophora flavescens). The mortality rate of P. canaliculata was increased using 200 to 2000 mg/kg of green tea seed powder. However, shrubby sophora root extract did not significantly increase the mortality rate. The LC50 and LC90 of green tea seed, tobacco leaves, shrubby sophora root, and red spider lily root were 900 and 2800 mg/L, 956 and 2320 mg/L, 2162 and 5325 mg/L, and 512 and 1054 mg/kg, respectively. The LC50 and LC90 of ground powder of C. sinensis, N. tabacum, S. flavescens and L. radiata were 248 and 646 mg/L, 403 and 733 mg/L, 409 and 905 mg/L, and 493 and 1141 mg/L, respectively. The findings indicate the remarkable control potency of green tea seeds against the golden apple snail. An organic material incorporating the four plant powders may help control green apple snail in an ecosystem-friendly manner.
This study is to find out effects of hot water soluble extract from green tea, one of the Korean favorites, on the calcium metabolism and bone strength in body. To do so, calcium, phosphate, creatinine concentration and ALP activity in blood and the content of calcium and ash in the organ, the length, weight, strength in bone were measured. In addition, to find the calcium metabolism, the level of calcium intake, excretion, retention were measured. Twenty male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into two groups and isoloated soy protein was provided as the source of protein and CaCO₃ was provided as the source of calcium. 0.5% hot water soluble extract from green tea was provided to the green tea groups and for the control group deionized water was provided. The results are as follows ; 1. There is no difference between the experimental groups in diet intake, weight gain, and the feed intake. 2. Feed efficiency ratio was low in the group which hot water soluble extract from green tea was provided. 3. There is no difference between groups the level of calcium, phosphorus, creatinine and ALP activity in serum. 4. There is no difference between groups weight, contents of ash and calcium in kidney and liver. 5. There is no difference between groups in calcium intake, absorption, excretion, and retention. 6. There is no difference between groups weight, length and strength in bone. In summary, when hot water soluble extract from green tea was provided with the amount of 150-200mg, which is taken when people generally drink as favorite tea, weight gain was reduced due to the decrease of feed efficiency ratio. However, it did not affect the availability of calcium in body at all. Thus, even if a big quantity of green tea powder or solid of hot green tea extract is not provided, the quantity obtained when people drink green tea lowers the feed efficiency ratio without reducing availability of calcium in body.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the quality characteristics in different types of Omija (Schizandra chinensis Baillon) powder tea. Raw Omija was prepared in three ways: 1) freeze-dried powder of whole Omija (FD), 2) freeze-dried powder of pressed Omija juice (PF), and 3) granules of pressed Omija juice (PG). Dried Omija was extracted and prepared in three ways: 4) freeze-dried powder (EF), 5) granules (EG), and 6) spray-dried powder (ES). The total soluble solid contents and turbidity were higher in PG, EG, and ES than those in other samples. $L^*$ value, pH, and reducing sugar contents were higher in PG and EG than those in other samples. Finally, $a^*$ value, $b^*$ value, total phenolic compounds contents, antioxidant activities, total anthocyanin contents, and schizandrin contents were lower in PG and EG than those in other samples. These results show that FD, PF, EF, and ES are more effective in outstanding redness and antioxidant activities compared to other Omija powder products.
