  • The purposes of this study is to verify additional demand of students for secondary vocational education, and draw political implications. To meet the purposes, firstly we analyzed current policies on the secondary vocational education. Second, we divided additional demand of students for secondary vocational education into practical and potential demand. Practical demand by students who would like to take further vocational education in secondary education system includes students who hoped to enter vocational high school however they failed to go, the first or second year students who transferred from general high school to vocational high school, and the third year students who are in general high school would like to take commissioned vocational courses. Potential demand is an additional demand for secondary vocational education in a society perspective. This includes a student who downgraded employment even though they entered college or university after graduated general high-school. Comparing the result of this study with the entrance quota of vocational high-school, additional demand of students for secondary vocational education showed that accounted for 61.2 percent of the entrance quota year 2015. Specifically, potential demand accounts for 31.7 percent of the entrance quota for vocational high school and practical demand accounts for 29.5 percent.

  • This study was attempted to provide a scientific basis for the problem of location selection by spatial scale for efficient promotion of projects related to green care farm complex. Location potential assessment system in local government scale consists of two major components from demand-side and supply-side consideration. The demand-side aspect considered the characteristics of potential users, while supply-side aspect used total 18 indices over 8 divisions under 3 fields. For the location potential assessment in district scale, total 8 indices under 3 major divisions were considered based on biological, physical, social, and economic environment. The application results of the location potential evaluation system in local government scale(excluding metropolitan cities) showed high location potential in southern Gyeonggi Province and near Busan Metropolitan City. As a result of applying the district-scale location potential evaluation system to Geumsan-gun, Geumsan-eup, Chubu-myeon, and Jewon-myeon have high potential. Further studies to improve the applicability of the developed indices are recommended by enhancing assessment indices, complementing base data, and reinforcing with spatial analysis.

  • Hydrogen is used as a chemical feedstock in several important industrial processes, including oil refineries and petro-chemical production. But, nowadays hydrogen is focused as energy carrier on the rising of problems such as exhaustion of fossil fuel and environmental pollution. Thermochemical hydrogen production by nuclear energy has potential to efficiently produce large quantities of hydrogen without producing greenhouse gases, and research of nuclear hydrogen, therefore, has been worked with goal to demonstrate commercial production in 2020. The oil refineries and petro-chemical plant are very large, centralized producers and users of industrial hydrogen, and high-potential early market for hydrogen produced by nuclear energy. Therefore, it is essential to investigate and analyze for state of domestic hydrogen market focused on industrial users. Hydrogen market of petro-chemical industry as demand site was investigated and worked for demand forecast of hydrogen in 2020. Also we suggested possible supply plans of nuclear hydrogen considered regional characteristics and then it can be provided basis for determination of optimal capacity of nuclear hydrogen plant in 2020.

  • This study has redefined the concepts of mobility indexes and potential demand, standards to evaluate areas with the worst public transportation system and applied the relevant indexes to select the areas with the worst public transportation mobility and present a method to set direct public transportation lines between these regions. The mobility indexes and indexes to evaluate potential demand were applied to select the regions with the worst public transportation systems in four metropolitan cities and case studies were carried out on direct lines provided between these regions. The analysis results showed that in public transportation mobility blind spots, public transportation takes much longer than driving an automobile or public transportation services are not provided. In addition, the analysis showed that a direct lines system to solve such worst off regions should be built to have public transportation take as much time as driving an automobile by establishing lines for automobiles only, minimize time lost from hopping up and down a bus and maximize connections.

  • Demand response(DR) is potential generation alternative to improve the reliability indices of system and load points. However, when demand resources scheduled in DR market fail to reduce demand, it can create new problems associated with maintaining a reliable supply. In this paper, a reliability model of demand resource is constructed considering customers' behaviors in the same form as conventional generation units, where availability and unavailability are associated with the simple two-state model. As a result, the generalized reliability model of demand resources is represented by multi-state model.

  • This study is an attempt to quantify rainwater utilization and miscellaneous water demand in Tokyo's 23 special wards, the core of the urban area in Tokyo, Japan, in order to elucidate the potential of further rainwater utilization. The rainwater utilization for miscellaneous appropriate water demands, including toilet flushing, air conditioning, and garden irrigation, were calculated for six different types of building: residential house, office, department store, supermarket, restaurant, and accommodation. Miscellaneous water demands in these different types of building were expressed in terms of equivalent rainfall of 767, 1,133, 3,318, 1,887, 16,574, and 2,227 (mm/yr), respectively, compared with 1,528 mm of Tokyo's average annual precipitation. Building types, numbers and its height were considered in this study area using geographic information system data to quantify miscellaneous water demands and the amount of rainwater utilization in each ward. Area precipitation-demand ratio was used to measure rainwater utilization potential for miscellaneous water demands. Office and commercial areas, such as Chiyoda ward, showed rainwater utilization potentials of <0.3, which was relatively low compared to those wards where many residential houses are located. This is attributed to the relatively high miscellaneous water demand. In light of rainwater utilization based on building level, the introduction of rainwater storage mechanisms with a storage depth of 50 mm for six different types of buildings was considered, and calculated as rainfall of 573, 679, 819, 766, 930, and 787 (mm), respectively. Total rainwater utilization using such storage facilities in each building from 23 wards resulted in the retention of 102,760,000 $m^3$ of water for use in miscellaneous applications annually, and this volume corresponded to 26.3% of annual miscellaneous water demand.

  • An Energy Efficiency Resource Standards (EERS) is a simple, market-based mechanism to encourage more efficient generation, transmission, and use of electricity, natural gas and heat. An EERS consists of electric, gas and/or heating energy savings targets for utilities, often with flexibility to achieve the target through a market-based trading system. In this paper, we make persons acquainted with EERS programs of foreign countries in these days. And we analyze domestic energy demand side management (DSM) programs in order to introduce an EERS program into the country successfully. Energy efficiency potential calculated in 2007 is one of the important factors for establishing an EERS program domestically. This study may provide basic data to set the amount of energy saving when an EERS program would be phased in.

  • Access to clean and affordable water is one of the fundamental human rights because water is essential to life and a foundation for socioeconomic development of any country in the world. Despite the efforts to secure water supply in Burundi, the amount of water supplied by public utilities does not meet the demand of the population because population keeps increasing with fluctuation of weather conditions. This study selected north Bujumbura that is a sprawling new residential area in the western part of Burundi as a case to investigate the potential of rainwater harvesting in meeting water demand of the country. Based on a long-term average monthly precipitation in the region, the rainwater harvesting potential was assessed as a function of roof sizes, number of households, and runoff coefficients of roof materials. For the entire region of north Bujumbura, the current water supply capacity of the local water company combined with the rainwater harvesting potential resulted in the water surplus of $468,604.1m^3/yr$. Although three communes among them still showed water deficit in dry season, they still got help from rainwater to relieve their water shortage. This suggests that at the regional scale, proper storages and water quality control for harvestable rainwater could contribute to relieving the regional water shortage and allow the population growth.
