The primary objective of this research is to develop a better understanding of consumer's post-purchase psychological state by examining the influence of sales promotion and emotional brand attachment on post-purchase cognitive dissonance, taking into account the mediating role of impulse buying behavior. The current study addresses several gaps in literature. Firstly, it is hard to find the direct impact of sales promotion and emotional brand attachment on post-purchase cognitive dissonance. Secondly, to the best of our knowledge, few studies have investigated the mediating role of impulse buying behavior in consumer research. A sample of 256 respondents was collected from Pakistani retail consumers. The statistical findings of this study show that sales promotion has a significant positive effect on the impulse buying behavior and post-purchase cognitive dissonance. Furthermore, results indicate that emotional brand attachment has a negative influence on impulse buying behavior but has a significant positive impact on post-purchase cognitive dissonance. Meanwhile, impulse buying behavior is a potential mediator between sales promotion, emotional brand attachment, and post-purchase cognitive dissonance relationships. The moderating role of Gender describes that the positive relationship between sales promotion and post-purchase cognitive dissonance will be stronger for women as compared to men at a higher level of sales promotion.

For the hypothesis test, exploratory factor analysis, t-test, regression and structure equation path analysis were performed. Results - The consumers who often resented HMR purchase did counter-factual thinking on post-purchase behavior were likely to do switching purchases. Counter-factual thinking on post-purchase behavior had a negative influence upon consumer's satisfaction with HMR safety and marketing characteristics. This study attempted to understand post-purchase consumer return experiences which had not received much attention in consumer behavior research. As a first step to understand return experiences from consumers' viewpoint, the study took an exploratory approach and identified themes and patterns from subjective consumer experiences. Whenever possible, attribution theory was applied to interpret the identified patterns. A total of 99 cases were collected from an open-ended questionnaire and analyzed based on a qualitative method. The reasons of product return was classified into five groups: changing mind; product defects; unsuitable products; products not expected; and for a better deal. External attribution was observed for return decisions caused by consumers' changed mind as well as by product defects. Dissatisfaction with defected products seemed to be intensified or reduced by service failure or success in the post-purchase service encounter. Consumer expectation and situations seemed to affect this process. Overall, the study supported attribution theory in the post-purchase return experience, and insights for research questions were proposed.

Small luxury purchase as self-gifting is one of the latest consumer trends in self-gifting. Although this consumption trend continues to grow in various fields, little research has been conducted on related consumer behavior. As such, this study was conducted to empirically investigate the current consumer behavior involved in purchase of small luxury self-gifts. The objectives of this study are to determine the current status of self-gifts markets, identify motives and orientations of self-gifting, and investigate the effects of the motives on self-gifts orientations. A total of 199 respondents were used in data analyses. Regarding motives for self-gifting, four motives - self-comfort, self-reward, anxiety, and showing off - were identified; regarding self-gifting orientations, five factors - rationalization (emotional comfort, product attributes, self-defense, and conformity) and the luxury being within one's spending limit - were identified. The study determined the effects of the motives on the orientations, and the effects of the motives and the orientations on post-purchase consumer reaction. This study conducted an empirical investigation on small luxury self-gifting and moreover, the study determined the motives, orientations, and consequences of self-gifting, which have not yet been explained in the literature.

This study examines the relationship between perceived risk and regret, the influence of regret, and the regret-solution effort upon post-purchase behavior. These causal pathways are controlled by moderated different impulse buying types. The results of the study are three-fold. First, consumers with high social and convenience risks resulted in the high levels of regret. Second, the higher the regret then the higher the negative purchase intention and the lower the positive purchase intention. Consumers who emphasize the regret-solution have high positive purchase intentions and the low negative purchase intentions. Lastly, as for the influence of the regret upon the negative purchase intention, the 'recollection impulse buying type' has the greatest influence among all other types. No impulse buying types have a positive influence on purchase intention. As for the influence of the regret-solution efforts on the positive purchase intention, the 'pure impulse buying type' had the greatest influence. Only the 'suggestion impulse buying type' influenced the negative purchase behavior intention. The post-purchase intention depends on the level and the degree of the regret-solution efforts of the consumer. This study contributes to the examination of the different impulse buying types that influence the moderators in the causal pathway of the risk perception to the post-purchase buying behavior.
The type of product and consumer characteristis have known to play an important role in the post-purchase behavior. The issue related to the effects of clothing type and sex on the process of consumer satisfaction formation, would be helpful to understand the past-purchase consumer behavior. Therefore, the objective of this study was to clarify differences in the process of satisfaction formation in relation to clothing type and sex. The study was conducted in three steps. Through the two steps, measurement instruments were developed. At the last step, judgement sampling method was utilized to collect the data and subjects were 614 university students. Factor analysis and path analysis were used to analyze the data. The process of consumer satisfaction formation in formal wear and casual wear showed some differences. In the case of format wear, only expressive product performance was found to play an important role in the process of consumer satisfaction formation. However in the case of casual wear, both expressive and instrumental product performances had influence upon clothing satisfaction directly or through consumption emotion. The results revealed a similar tendency in the process of satisfaction formation between male and female groups. However in the male group the consumption emotion had a greater effect on the process of consumer satisfaction formation than in the female group it did.
This study explores whether consumers' sustainable luxury purchase (SLP), which refers to luxury consumers' conscientious purchase behavior of "buying luxury for its timeless style and durable quality that leads to extended product usage and less waste," leads to luxury consumer pleasure (LCP). Furthermore, the current study examines whether LCP leads to positive post-purchase behavior reflected by sustainable divestment intention (SDI) and repurchase intention (RI). In addition, by building on Coping Theory, we explore whether luxury consumer guilt (LCG) positively moderates the relationship between LCP and SDI. Our empirical findings of the SEM analysis based on 452 valid responses demonstrate the significant relationships between SLP and LCP, between LCP and SDI, and between LCP and RI. This implies the importance of SLP in creating a favorable consumer response, which further leads to consumers' intentions to make a sustainable divestment and to repurchase luxury. Furthermore, the critical moderating role LCG plays in the relationship between LCP and SDI was supported, stressing the importance of guilt as a trigger of consumers' sustainable divestment behavior.
