  • As the usage of sun tracking system in solar energy utilization facility increases, requirement of more accurate computation of sun position has also been increased. Accordingly, various algorithms to compute the sun position have been proposed in the literature and some of them insist that their algorithms guarantee less than 0.01 degree computational error. However, mostly, the true meaning of accuracy argued in their publication is not clearly explained. In addition to that, they do not clearly state under what condition the accuracy they proposed can be guaranteed. Such ambiguity may induce misunderstanding on the accuracy of the computed sun position and ultimately may make misguided notion on the actual sun tracking system's sun tracking accuracy. This work presents some comments related to the implementation of sun position computational algorithm for the sun tracking system. We first introduce the algorithms proposed in the literature. And then, from sun tracking system user's point of view, we explain the true meaning of accuracy of computed sun position. We also discuss how to select the proper algorithm for the actual implementation. We finally discuss how the input factors used in computation of sun position, like time, position etc, affect the computed sun position accuracy.

  • This research proposes a indoor magnetic map matching algorithm that improves the position accuracy by employing multiple magnetic sensors and probabilistic candidate weighting function. Since the magnetic field is easily distorted by the surrounding environment, the distorted magnetic field can be used for position mapping, and multiple sensor configuration is useful to improve mapping accuracy. Nevertheless, the position error is likely to increase because the external magnetic disturbances have repeated pattern in indoor environment and several points have similar magnetic field distortion characteristics. Those errors cause large position error, which reduces the accuracy of the position detection. In order to solve this problem, we propose a method to reduce the error using multiple sensors and likelihood boundaries that uses human walking characteristics. Also, to reduce the maximum position error, we propose an algorithm that weights according to their importance. We performed indoor walking tests to evaluate the performance of the algorithm and analyzed the position detection error rate and maximum distance error. From the results we can confirm that the accuracy of position detection is greatly improved.

  • Accuracy of positions by GPS receiver at Tongyoung Port were measured and analysed in order to get more credible information on GPS positioning for vessels. Positions were automatically recorded every 5-Min from 1st October, 1997 to 30th of November, 1997 by two identical GPS receivers at the Laboratory of Navigation in the College of Marine Science, Gyeongsang University ($34^{\circ}$ 49' 57.985"N, $128^{\circ}$ 24' 06.562") and at the training ship "Gyeongyang" alongside in the tongyoung passenger port ($34^{\circ}$ 50" 10.080"N, $128^{\circ}$ 25' 16.415") as fixed positions. The results are as follows ; 1. Number of the usable satellites observing Zenith angle between $9^{\circ}$ and $82^{\circ}$ was normally 4 during a day 24 hours except for 3 hours with total Number 20. 2. Accuracy of position with time was widely dispersed around center of standard position as well as directional deviation around mean position. 3. Specific error of GPS receiver showed a little deviation by alternative measurements for consecutive 5 days at each fixed position respectively. 4. Accuracy of GPS position at 2 fixed positions of Tongyoung port was revealed 27.2 m as minimum value while normal accuracy for all day could be less than 50 m.

  • This paper present box feature estimation from LiDAR point cluster using maximum likelihood Method. Previous LiDAR tracking method for autonomous driving shows high accuracy about velocity and heading of point cluster. However, Assuming the average position of a point cluster as the vehicle position has a lower accuracy than ground truth. Therefore, the box feature estimation algorithm to improve position accuracy of autonomous driving perception consists of two procedures. Firstly, proposed algorithm calculates vehicle candidate position based on relative position of point cluster. Secondly, to reflect the features of the point cluster in estimation, the likelihood of the particle scattered around the candidate position is used. The proposed estimation method has been implemented in robot operating system (ROS) environment, and investigated via simulation and actual vehicle test. The test result show that proposed cluster position estimation enhances perception and path planning performance in autonomous driving.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel position accuracy enhancement method of a low-end GPS using digital map information. The latest digital map has various kinds of information on geographical features. The proposed method uses position information of lane marks among the geographical features. We define the position information of lane marks as the reference points. The position information of a low-end GPS acquired for a period of time is defined as the source points. In the proposed method, rotation and translation matrices between the reference and the source points are calculated by using an Iterative Closest Point(ICP) algorithm. The source points are transformed by the obtained rotation and translation matrices. Finally, the transformed source points are projected on the reference points. Through these processes, the position accuracy of a low-end GPS is ultimately enhanced. To verify the proposed method, the various real experimental results are presented.

  • The perception of English labial consonants was investigated via experiment where 40 Korean EFL learners identified nonwords with the target labial consonants [p, b, f, v] in 4 different prosodic locations: initial onset position, intervocalic position before stress, intervocalic position after stress, and final coda position. The overall result showed that the proportion of perception accuracy of the target consonants was rather low, amounting to only 55%. There was also a positional effect since the accuracy rates for perceiving the four target consonants differed by position. Specifically, the average accuracy rate of the target consonant identification was higher in intervocalic position before stress (70%) and initial onset position (67%) than in intervocalic position after stress (45%) and final coda position (36%). Further, the accuracy rate for [f] is was high in all prosodic locations except intervocalic position after stress. The perception patterns were accounted for by the markedness and perceptual factors in conjunction with stress location.

  • For the purpose of getting the accuracy of NNSS fix, the continuous observation was performed to search the factors affecting the accuracy of NNSS fix, and then to examine their effects. The observation was made at Lat. $35^{\circ}'||'&'||'<\TEX>05'04"N, Long. '||'&'||'129^{\circ}'||'&'||'<\TEX> 02'13"E from 28th January to 20th July in 1985. Accuracy of the position fixed in accordance with the observation time, each satellite, elevation angle doppler count, passed direction of each satellite and the antenna height were analyzed. The results obtaines are summerized as follows: 1. The deflaetion error is reduced to 0.21 miles when the geodetic system of the calculating the position converted from WGS-72 to Bessel. 2. When the elevation angle of the mountain is high, or the range of the elevation angle of satellite is 20-70 degrees, the position fixed comes nearest the true position. 3. The position fixed is more accurate on the condition that doppler count is more than 21, and at night than in daytime. 4. The accuracy of the position fixed is more seriously affected when the input data of the antenna height has considerable errors. But there occures almost little difference in the accuracy of position according to each satellite.

  • The accuracy of Digital Map does not meet the user's expectation, including the many errors caused while producing the project, this will be useless resulting waste of enormous national budget. To solve this Accuracy problem, clear regulations about the position accuracy of scaled Digital Map should be set immediately and provide the users with accurate information about Digital Map enabling the users to use Digital Map for each GIS application field. For this reason, the position accuracy evaluation of existing Digital Maps produced in diverse methods is on demand. In this study, therefore, we performed horizontal position survey of local selected Facilities Total Station equipment to evaluate the horizontal position accuracy of 1:1,000, 1:5,000 scaled Digital Map, obtained standard deviation using the results, performed T-Test to confirm the presence of bias and evaluated the position accuracy of Digital Map.

  • In the study, to minimize the error on guided control of the KV (Kill Vehicle) and to secure the hit-to-kill performance, a position accuracy inspection for the DACS (Divert and Attitude Control System) actuation system was proposed. The accuracy performance of the DACS actuation system is one of the most important factors in the interception of ballistic missiles. In order to validate actuation control accuracy of DACS system, an inspection item was set for position accuracy, and the inspection system was designed for DACS pintle. To measure the absolute position value of the DACS pintle, an external measurement system was developed using laser displacement sensors. The inspection system was designed so that it can be compared with the actuation command in real time. The proposed position accuracy inspection system can be inspected not only in a DACS system but also in missile system level. The position accuracy inspection was performed using the designed inspection system, and analysis of the inspection result.
