This paper was performed to investigate the effect of pore structure on ink residual behavior. To prepare different coating structures as substrates against inks, fine, medium and coarse calcium carbonate were used in the coating color. It is well known ink properties can affect to print qualities. After printing on the coated paper, ink layer can consider as third structure addition to paper and coating layer. To compare effect of ink properties on the surface structure and print qualities, several properties of ink were also adopted as raw material. Particle size of pigment effect on gloss evaluation of coated paper increased with calendering. It was shown that ink transfer rate increased as surface of the sample was smooth. The ink contained low viscosity resin evaluated more print gloss. Finer pigment particle size, smaller pore size and higher porosity. Pore volume of coated paper was slightly decreased with printing as the coating was prepared with the finest particle size. However, it founded that ink resin could not affect on pore volume and distribution of printed paper
The permeation characteristics and reclamation efficiency of waste lubricating oil were studied as a function of the types of ceramic composite membranes and the membrane separation process variables. The oil permeability of the TiO2 composite membrane(pore size 0.015 $\mu\textrm{m}$) was directly proportional to the crossflow velocity(0.22∼0.9 m/s) and temperature(150$^{\circ}C$∼200$^{\circ}C$). In the batch concentration process, as the concentration factor increased, both the permeability and the ash content of the permeate decreased. The average ash contents of the total permeate through the A6 alumina membrane(average pore size 0.8$\mu\textrm{m}$), Z1/A6 and Z1/A4(pore size 0.23$\mu\textrm{m}$)/A7(pore size 6$\mu\textrm{m}$) zirconia composite membrances(average pore size 0.07$\mu\textrm{m}$) were about 0.063 wt%, 0.045wt% and 0.08wt% in the region of 1∼2 concentration factor, respectively. The ash content of the mixed permeate through the A6 alumina and zirconia composite membrane was about 0.06 wt% and it can be also reduced to 0.06 wt% in the Z1/A6 membrane and below 0.003 wt% in the TiO2/Z1/A6 membrane. It was concluded that the treated oil obtained from the multi-step membrane separation process could be used as reclaimed lubricating oil as well as reclained fuel oil.
I performed the research about the drinking water treatment by precoat filtration and activated carbon adsorption process in the D water treatment plant at Gwangju. D water treatment plant inlet water is supplied from Juam lake in Jeollanamdo. The results are as follows; 1. Element disk used in this experiment are R(pore size $10{\mu}m$), B(pore size $20{\mu}m$). And diatomaceous earth are A(cake pore size $3.5{\mu}m$), B(cake pore size $7{\mu}m$) and C(cake pore size $17{\mu}m$) 2. Filtrate of precoat filter during 30 min are B-C 10.2 > BB 5.7 > R-A 5.4 ($m^3/m^2$). 3. The water quality through B-C+AC and R-A+AC are DOC 1.76 mg/1, 1.288 m/l respectively. 4. total THMs produced by chlorination are $84.2{\mu}g/l$(B-C+AC), $66.11{\mu}g/l$ (R-A+AC), $97{\mu}g/l$ (rapid sand filtration water) respectively. 5. The R-A+AC and B-C+AC process can be substitute of CWTS.
The wearing comfort of garment is governed by two kinds of characteristics such as moisture and thermal transport properties and mechanical properties of fabrics. The porosity influenced by yarn and fabric structural parameters is known as main factor for wearing comfort of garment related to the moisture and thermal transport properties. This study investigated effect of porosity of composite yarns to the moisture and thermal comfort properties of composite fabrics made of hollow composite DTY and ATY yarns. The theoretical porosity and pore size were inversely proportional to cover factor of fabric, but cover factor was not correlated with experimental pore size. The wicking property of hydrophobic PET filament fabric showed inferior result irrespective of porosity, pore size and cover factor. The drying rate was superior at composite fabrics with high pore size and low cover factor, and pore size was dominant factor for drying property. On the other hand, thermal conductivity of composite fabric was mainly influenced by cover factor and not influenced by porosity. Air permeability was influenced by both porosity and cover factor and was highly increased with increasing porosity and decreasing fabric cover factor.
The sintering behaviors of the glass-alumina composites for low firing temperature were investigated as functiions of the volume fraction of alumina powder and the particle size with respect to porosity and pore shape. As the volume fraction of alumina powder was increased or the particle size of it was decreased, the sintering temperature of open pore-closing was raised. When the volume fractions of alumina which had 2.19$\mu\textrm{m}$ median diameter were increased with 20, 30, 40, and 50%, the sintering temperatures of open pore-closing were 425, 450, 475, and 500$^{\circ}C$. And when the median particle size of alumina was diminished from 2.19$\mu\textrm{m}$ to 0.38$\mu\textrm{m}$, the sintering temperature of open pore-closing was increased from 450$^{\circ}C$ to 475$^{\circ}C$. Especially, the sintering temperature, which showed maximum density, was corresponded with the stage of open pore-closing and after achieving maximum density over heating resulted in dedensification of specimen, so called, over-firing behavior.
In this study, the properties of polyurethane-polydimethylsiloxane (PU-PDMS) hybrid foams containing different types and contents of physical blowing agents (PBAs) were investigated. Two types of blowing agents, namely physical blowing agents and thermally expandable microspheres (TEM), were applied. The apparent density was measured using precisely cut foam samples, and the pore size was measured using image software. In addition, the microstructure of the foam was confirmed via scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The thermal conductivities related to the microstructures of the different foams were compared. When 0.5 phr of the hydrocarbon-based PBA was added, the apparent density and pore size of the foam were minimal; however, the pore size was larger than that of neat foam. In contrast, the addition of 3 phr of TEM effectively reduced both the apparent density and pore size of the PBAs. The increase in resin viscosity owing to TEM could enhance bubble production stability, leading to the formation of more uniform and smaller pores. These results indicate that TEM is a highly efficient PBA that can be employed to decrease the weight and pore size of PU-PDMS hybrid foams.
Silica hydrogel was synthesized by the reaction of liquid sodium silicate with sulfuric acid. The condensation polymerization of the synthesized hydrogel was carried out via an aging process under the acidic or alkaline conditions. Nano porous silica with the pore size below 3 nm and surface area of $715m^2/g$, was obtained by the above processes in acidic ranges(pH : 3~5). The pore size and surface area of the silica varied with pH, and in alkaline ranges(pH : 8~10), those were 21 nm and $300m^2/g$ respectively. The characteristics of the silica varied with the thermal treatment which caused the change of surface area, pore volume and pore diameter.
Hydrated sodium silicate was synthesized by hydrothermal reaction using anhydrous sodium silicate. The optimum additions of water was 25wt% to make hydrated sodium silicate with homogeneous and purposed water contents. Porous ceramics with homogeneous microstructure and spherical closed pore can be fabricated by elimination of the large pores(a few mm in size) which was formed during first heat treatment through the decomposition of water. Spherical closed pore was formed above $600^{\circ}C$ and the pore size was increased with increasing second heat treatment temperature due to growth of pores. The size of spherical closed pore was varied from 35 to $233\;{\mu}m$ and specific gravity was varied from 0.2 to 1.02 depending on the combinations of the first and second heat treatment temperature.
Based on the pore filling theory, the microstructure evolution during liquid-phase sintering has been analyzed in terms of interrelationship between average grain size and relative density. For constant liquid volume fraction, the microsturucture trajectories reduced to a single curve in a grain size(x)-density(y) map, regardless of grain growth constant. The slope of curves in the map was inversely proportional to average pore size, while it increased fapidly with liquid volume fraction. Increase in pore volume fraction retarded the densification considerably, but showed marginal effect on the slope. The activation energy of densification was predicted to be the same as that of grain growth as long as the liquid volume fraction is constant for any temperature range studied. The present analyses on microstricture evolution may demonstrate the usefulness of pore filling theory and provide a guideline for process optimization of liquid-phase sintering.
Cotton fabrics were treated with 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylic acid(BTCA) to impart durable press performance, which is formaldehyde-free DP finishing reagent. The pore structures of BTCA treated cottons were compared using a reverse gel permeation chromatographic technique(reverse GPC). A series consisting 4 kinds of water soluble sugars was used to study the elution characteristics of columns prepared from cotton fibers. From these data, differences in pore size distribution in the control and BTCA treated cottons were distinguished. BTCA crosslinks cellulose molecules provided wrinkle resistance to the treated cotton fabrics through ester linkages. Although crosslinking of cotton with BTCA reduced accessible internal volume across the entire range of pore size, differences in line pores were larger than in small pores. BTCA treated cotton exhibited reductions over 40% in large pore sizes.
