Synthesis and Characterization of Crosslinked Hole Transporting Polymers for Organic Light Emitting Diodes

  • Triphenylamine derivatives play important roles as hole transporting materials in organic light emitting devices. However, low molecular weight triphenylamine derivatives show low glass transition temperature and aggregation behavior, and the vapor deposition step of low molecular weight materials is incompatible with large area display fabrication. Conventional polymer PEDOT-PSS HTL has serious drawbacks such as the ITO anode corrosion, poor surface energy match with aromatic EMLs. To solve these problems, we introduced crosslinkable units to triphenylamine-based polymers to make insoluble HTL by thermal curing following spin-coating. Electrochemical and optical properties of the new hole transporting materials were investigated. In addition, the device characteristics obtained with new hole transporting polymers were investigated in details.

  • A series novel films of polyimide (PI) and co-polyimide (Co-PI) containing fluorine with colorless, flexible properties was prepared by a two-step process from various commercial aromatic monomers such as 4,4'-(Hexafluoro iso propylidene) diphthalic anhydride (6FDA), 2,2'-Bis(Trifluoromethyl) benzidine (TFDB), 2,2-bis(3-amino-4-hydroxyphenyl) hexafluoropropane (AH6FP) and Bis(4-(3-aminophenoxy)phenyl)sulfone (BAS). Furthermore, these obtained transparent and flexible Co-PI films exhibited excellent thermal stability with the decomposition temperature (at 5% weight loss) around of $500^{\circ}C$ and the glass transition temperature ($T_g$) in the range of $275-350^{\circ}C$.

Synthesis and characterization of negative-type photosensitive polyimides for TFT-LCD array

  • Two different negative-type photosensitive polyimides were synthesized and characterized for an application as an interdielectric layer in TFTLCD array. In the case of photocurable polyimides, the photosensitive moiety, 2-HHSP, was synthesized through 3 step reaction, and then was incorporated into side chains of polyimide precursor by post reaction. Optimum compositions of negative-type photocurable polyimde were also formulated. For photopolymerizable polyimides, two novel UV monomers containing imide linkages were prepared. An aqueous alkaline developable polymer matrix was synthesized by free radical copolymerization. A negative photoresist formulation was developed utilizing synthesized UV monomers containing imide linkage, photoinitiator, UV oligomer, and alkali developable polymer matrix. It was found that viaholes with good resolution, high transmittance and thermal resistance could be obtained by photolithographic process utilizing the negative-type photoresist formulations.

  • Poly(4-vinylpyridine)-supported $Br{\phi}nsted$ acids (P4VP-HX) were prepared by wet impregnation technique. These supported acids were found as efficient heterogeneous green catalysts for acetylation of alcohol, amine and phenol with different catalytic activities. The wide application of P4VP-HX as reusable solid acid catalyst in organic reactions is possible because of its simple preparation and handling, stability, simple work up procedure.

  • 새로운 스타폴리머인 바이오폴리부타디엔은 리빙 음이온중합이라는 고분자의 정밀 합성법을 통하여 분자량, 분자량분포, 조성 및 세부구조를 제어하였다. 리빙 음이온중합에 의해 n-BuLi으로 개시된 polybutadienyllithium(PBDLi)의 연쇄말단이 ESO(Epoxidized Soybean Oil)의 기능성 그룹과 커플링 반응을 일으키며 스타폴리머를 합성한다. 분자량이 1,000/5,000/10,000(g/mol)인 PBDLi을 중합하여 THF존재하에서 반응 후 GPC에 의한 분자량 및 arms분석과 $^1H$-NMR, FT-IR에 의한 고분자 구조 분석을 통하여 바이오폴리부타디엔의 합성을 확인하였다.

Poly(anthranilic acid) Microspheres: Synthesis, Characterization and their Electrocatalytic Properties

  • Poly(anthranilic acid) was synthesized by rapid mixing method using 5-sulphosalicylic acid as a dopant. The synthesized polymer was characterized by various techniques like FT-IR, UV-Visible, and X-ray diffraction $etc.$, The FT-IR studies reveal that the 5-sulphosalicylic acid is well doped within the polymer. The morphological property was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopic technique. The electrochemical properties of the polymer were studied by cyclic voltammetric method. The synthesized polymer was used to modify glassy carbon electrode (GCE) and the modified electrode was found to exhibit electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of uric acid (UA).

  • Polymer solar cells (PSCs) have attracted considerable academic and commercial interest because of their unique advantages, such as the facile manufacture of low cost, flexibility, lightweight, and solution processibility. Recently, high-performance polymer solar cells made from a mixture of poly(2,7-carbazole) derivatives, PCDTBT, and [6,6]-phenyl C71 butyric acid methyl ester (PC70BM) have been reported, with maximum power conversion efficiency of 6.1%. In this work, we report new novel copolymers based on poly(2,7-carbazole) derivatives with a suite of electron-deficient moieties or electron-rich units. We systematically investigated the synthesis, thermal stability, as well as the optical and electrochemical properties of these polymers. Detailed synthetic scheme, optical, electrochemical, and photovoltaic properties of the copolymers will be presented.

비할로겐형 phosphate계 난연제의 합성 및 특성결정 (Synthesis and Characterization of Non-halogen Type Phosphorus-Based Flame Retardants)

  • 난연제 가운데 가장 많이 사용되는 할로겐 함유 난연제는 사용상 환경적인 제한을 받고 있어서 비할로겐타입인 인계에 기초한 난연제가 각광을 받고 있다. 난연제는 수지에 가해지는 경우에 흔히 열분해와 기계적 특성저하를 일으킨다. 물성의 열화를 최소화하고 충분한 난연성을 얻기 위한 시도로 새로운 난연제에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구에 있어서는 diaryl alkyl phosphate esters, aromatic phosphate esters 및 phosphonium nitron 난연제 등 세가지 형태의 비할로겐 인계에 기초한 난연제를 합성하여 GC, IR 및 TGA 등으로 합성 및 열적 특성을 확인하였다.
