Dyeing Properties of Polyurethane-impregnated PET Knit

  • Dyeing and washing fastness properties of polyurethane-impregnated polyester (PU-impregnated PET), and the distribution of two disperse dyes between PET and PU film were studied to investigate the effect of PU portion to exhaustion and washing fastness. Dyeing properties of PU-impregnated PET were quite different with those of PET: PU-impregnated PET absorbed disperse dye linearly from the early stage of dyeing to equilibrium, and it exhibited excellent build-up property up to 4 %owf dyeing. The absorbed dye on PU film at early dyeing stage migrated to more substantive PET at the temperature higher than $115^{\circ}C$. The amount of exhausted dye on PET portion was larger than on PU film and the distribution ratio was $2.08{\sim}2.34$. The grade of washing fastness of PU-impregnated PET was the same as or lower by $0.5{\sim}1$ grade than PU film whose washing fastness was lower by $0.5{\sim}1$ than PET.

유연한 섬유상 발열체용 카본블랙 복합소재의 전기적 특성 (Electrical Properties of Carbon Black Composites for Flexible Fiber Heating Element)

  • Carbon composites for flexible fiber heating element were examined to improve the electrical conductivity in this study. Carbon composites using carbon black, denka black, super-c, super-p with/without CNF or dispersant such as BCS03 and Sikament-nn were prepared. Carbon composite slurry was coated on plane film and yarns(cotton, polyester) and the performances of prepared heating materials were investigated by checking electrical surface resistance, adhesion strength. The plane heating element using carbon black under natural drying condition($25^{\circ}C$) had better physical properties such as surface resistance(185.3 Ohm/sq) and adhesion strength(above 90%) than those of other carbon composite heating elements. From these results, polyester heating element coated by carbon black showed better electrical line resistance(33.2 kOhm/cm) than cotton heating element. Then, it was found that polyester heating element coated by carbon black with CNF(3 wt%) and BCS03(1 wt%) appeared best properties(0.604 kOhm/cm).

고무강화 복합재료의 지반용 특성 평가 (Assessment of Geosynthetic Properties of Rubber Reinforced Composites)

  • 보강 및 차수재인 지반용 고무재료를 열융착법에 의해 제조하였으며 환경공학분야에 적용을 위해 성능을 평가하였다. 이들 재료를 제조하는데 스펀본드 폴리에스테르 부직포, 유리섬유매트, 고강력 폴리에스테르사를 이용한 직포형 지오그리드를 기재로, SBS 함유 탄성 bitumen과 아스팔트를 보강재로 각각 사용하였다. 유리섬유 매트와 지오그리드를 기재로 사용한 지반용 재료의 경우 역학적성질이 우수하였으며, 부직포와 탄성 bitumen을 기재로한 경우에는 투수성이 우수하였다. 고무와 아스팔트를 혼합한 경우 연화점은 거의 변화가 없었으며, 고온에서의 치수안정성은 $120^{\circ}C$의 경우 두드러진 수축이 발생하지 않았다. 지반용 고무재료의 자외선에 대한 저항성은 가시적인 변화가 나타나지 않았다.

Organic Solvent Absorption Characteristics of Split-type Microfiber Fabrics

  • Split-type nylon/polyester microfiber and polyester microfiber fabrics possess drapeability, softness, bulkiness, and smoothness, so that they can be applied in various industrial fields. In particular, these fabrics are able to absorb various organic solvents, and can be used as clean room materials. To investigate the chemical affinity between solvents and the compositional materials of these fabrics, the contact angle of thermally pressed film fabrics was measured with different solvents. The thermally pressed nylon/polyester fabric films showed a chemical attraction to formamide. The sorption properties of the microfiber fabrics were investigated using a real time testing device, and these tests showed that the sorption behavior was more influenced by the structure of the fibrous assembly than by any chemical attraction. The effect of the fabric density, specific weight, and sample structure on the sorption capacity and rate was examined for various organic solvents. The sorption capacity was influenced by the density and the specific weight of the fibrous assembly, and knitted fabric showed a higher sorption capacity than woven fabric. However, the sorption rate was less affected in lower viscosity solvents. On applying Poiseuille's Law, the lower viscosity solvents showed higher initial sorption rates, and more easily penetrated into the fibrous assembly.

  • DuPont Teijin Films (DTF) have developed engineered substrates specifically for the flexible electronics market. $Teonex^{(R)}Q65$ is a biaxially oriented crystalline polyester with a tailored surface and it is emerging as a competitive material for the base substrate in OLED displays and active matrix backplanes. Given the dimensional reproducibility requirements in the display applications, uncontrolled moisture absorption during the processing cycle could potentially be far more significant than the inherent shrinkage of the base substrate. Understanding these effects and optimising the processing steps involved in device manufacture will be critical to achieving the ultimate performance that can be achieved with the base substrate.

  • In this work the electrical characteristics of organic TFTs using organic insulator and flexible polyester substrate have been investigated. Pentacene and PVP(polyvinylphenol) are used as an active semiconducting layer and dielectric layer respectively. Pentacene was thermally evaporated in vacuum at a pressure of about $1{\times}10^{-6}$ Torr and at a deposition rate of $0.5{\AA}$/sec, and PVP was spin-coated. Aluminium and gold were used for gate and source/drain electrodes. 0.1mm thick flexible polyester substrate was used instead of glass or silicon wafer.

  • 1-{2,4-Di-(2-hydroxyethoxy)phenyl}-2-(2-thienyl)ethene (5) was prepared and condensed with terephthaloyl chloride to yield polyester (6). Polymer 6 was reacted with tetracyanoethylene to give novel Y-type polyester (7) containing 1-(2,4-dioxyethoxy)phenyl-2-{5-(2,2,3-tricyanovinyl)-2-thienyl)}ethenyl groups as NLO-chromophores, which are parts the polymer backbones. Polymer 7 is soluble in common organic solvents such as acetone and N,N-dimethylformamide. It showed thermal stability up to 300 ${^{\circ}C}$ in thermogravimetric analysis with glasstransition temperature obtained from differential scanning calorimetry near 134 ${^{\circ}C}$. The second harmonic generation (SHG) coefficient ($d_33$) of poled polymer film at the 1560 nm fundamental wavelength was around 6.74 x $10^{-9}$ esu. The dipole alignment exhibited high thermal stability up to the glass-transition temperature ($Tg$), and there was no SHG decay below 135 ${^{\circ}C}$ because of the partial main-chain character of polymer structure, which is acceptable for NLO device applications.

도료용 폴리올 종류에 따른 폴리이소시아네이트와의 물성 (The Properties of Different Polyols for Paint to Polyisocyanate)

  • 도막의 기능은 피도물의 노출 환경 및 요구되는 물성에 따라 수지종류와 경화제는 적절하게 설계되어야 그 기능을 충분히 발휘할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 동일한 OH 함량을 가진 알키드 폴리올, 폴리에스테르 폴리올, 폴리에스테르 변성아크릴 폴리올 등과 $T_g$ 및 OH 함량이 다른 아크릴 폴리올 수지 등 6가지 폴리올수지를 사용하고, 경화제는 알리파틱 이소시아네트와 아로마틱 이소시아네트를 사용하였다. 총 12종류의 투명도료를 제조 후, 화학적, 기계적 물성시험과 DMA 및 Rheometer를 이용하여 폴리올 수지타입 및 경화제 타입에 따른 폴리우레탄 도료의 종류별 도막물성 및 작업성을 관찰하였다. 그 결과 폴리올수지에 있어서 각각 다른 물리적, 화학적 성질을 가지는 도료개발 및 도장작업성의 개선 시 적절한 폴리올수지 종류 및 경화제를 선택하여 상 하도의 물성 및 도장 시스템에 합리적으로 응용할 수 있는 결과를 얻었다.

Measurement of low energy beta radiation from Ni-63 by using peeled-off Gafchromic EBT3 film

  • Ni-63 is pure beta source which emits low energy beta particles. The Ni-63 sources were fabricated to develop the beta-voltaic battery which converts decay energy into electrical energy for power generation. Activity distribution of the source was important factor of power producibility of the beta-voltaic battery. Liquid scintillation counter widely used for measurement of low energy beta emitters was not suitable to measure activity distribution. In this study, we used the peeled-off Gafchromic™ EBT3 film to measure the activity distribution of the Ni-63 source. Absorbed dose was increased proportionally to the source activity and exposure duration. The low energy beta particles could transport the energy into the active layer without the polyester protective layer. Also, Activity distribution was measured by using the peeled-off EBT3 film. Two-dimensional dosimetric distribution was suitable to measure the activity distribution. To use the peeled-off EBT3 film is user-friendly and cost-effective method for quality assurance of the Ni-63 sources for the beta-voltaic battery.

상업용 고분자 필름의 투습속도 및 방습도에 관한 연구 (The Studies of the Water-Vapour Transmission Rate and It's Proofness on the Various Commercial Polymer Films)

  • 국내에서 상업용으로 이용하는 여러종류의 고분자 필름들에 대한 투습도를 일정한 압력과 상대습도 하에서 측정하고 투습도의 역수를 구하여 각 필름의 방습도로 정의하였다. 실험온도 $40{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, 상대습도 $90{\pm}2%$ 하에서 시료를 24시간 방치한 후 컵방법으로 필름의 방습도를 측정한 결과 다음과 같은 순서로 감소함을 밝혔다. 연신 polypropylene (O. PP) > 고밀도 polyethylene (HDPE, Inflation) > 고밀도 polyethylene (HDPE, T-die) > 무연신 polypeopylene (C. PP) > 무연신 polyester (N. PET) > 저밀도 polyethylene (LDPE) > 연신 polyester (O.PET) > 경질 polyvinyl chloride (Rigid PVC) > 반경질 polyvinyl chloride (Semirigid PVC) > 연질 Polyvinyl chloride (Nonrigid PVC) > 연신 nylon(O.Nylon) > 무연신 nylon (N.Nylon) 또한 온도증가에 따라서 측정한 결과 방습도는 HDPE, (T-die) > C. PP > O. PET > LDPE > O. Nylon으로 감소하였고, LDPE, HDPE (T-die), C. PP, O. PET, O. Nylon 필름들의 투습활성화 에너지는 12.0, 11.1, 11.4, 11.7, 14.1 kcal/mole임을 밝혔다. 필름의 투습도는 극성증가에 따라서 증가하고 PVC 필름은 가소제 첨가에 따라서 증가하며, 필름 두께와 연신 증가에 따라서는 감소하였다. O. PP/LDPE, N.Nylon/LDPE, C.PP/LDPE이 집합필름은 단일필름보다 두께에 대한 의존성이 증가하였다.
