  • In the present study, polyester-melamine coating systems with natural wood fiber (NWF) were prepared and the effects of NWF on the corrosion protectiveness of the polyester-melamine coating were examined using EIS analysis. From the results, higher average surface roughness was observed with increase of NWF content. Water diffusivity and water uptake into the polyester-melamine coatings with NWF were much higher than that into the pure polyester-melamine coating. The decrease in the impedance modulus |Z| was associated with the localized corrosion on carbon steel, confirming that corrosion protection of the polyester-melamine coatings with NWF well agrees with its water transport behavior.

  • The dyeability of C. I. Disperse Violet 1 on polyester fiber in alkance including a small amount of water was investigated. Up to 1% of water in alkanes the dye uptakes were increased rapidly. The dyeing transition temperature of the polyester fiber in alkanes with 1% of water was $86.5^\circ{C}$ that is lower by $11^\circ{C}$ than $97.5^\circ{C}$ in alkanes only. This means that water plasticizes the polyester fiber, and that dyes begin to penetrate the polyester fiber at lower temperature. Addition of trichloromethane which is known as a strong plasticizer on polyester fiber, in alkanes, increased the dye uptakes of C. I. Disperse Violet 1 on polyester fiber at $100^\circ{C}$, but the dyeing transition temperature was lower by $3^\circ{C}$ than in alkanes only.

  • The characteristics of self-compacting concrete (SCC) made with fly ash and reinforced with polyester fibers were investigated in this research. Polyester fibers of 12 mm long and 15 micrometer diameters were utilized in M40 grade SCC mixtures at five different volume fractions 0.025%, 0.05%, 0.075%, 0.1%, 0.3% as a fiber reinforcement. To understand the influence of polyester fibers on passing ability, flowability, segregate resistance the J ring, L box, V funnel, slump flow and U box tests were performed. Polyester fibers have a direct influence, with a maximum of 0.075% polyester fibers producing excellent characteristics. ANN models were constructed using the testing data as inputs to anticipate the fresh and hardened characteristics as targeted outputs. The research revealed that R2 values ranging from 0.900 to 0.997 appears to be a good correlation. The performance of ANN models and regression models for predicting the new characteristics of SCC is also evaluated.

  • Temporarily solubilized azo disperse dyes based on 1,2-substituted indoles were synthesized and characterized. Dispersant-free dyeing of polyester by using the synthesized dyes has been investigated. The colour yields of the dyes on the polyester fabric were found to be highly dependent on the dyeing pH, optimum results being obtained at pH 5. The dyes exhibited good to excellent fastness properties on polyester while lightfastness was moderate.

  • This paper deals with the consistency of fresh lightweight polyester mortars as high-performance or multifunctional building materials. Fresh lightweight polyester mortars using an unsaturated polyester resin, lightweight fillers and aggregate are mixed with various mix proportions, and tested for slump-flow and slump as a measure of consistency. At 10, 20 and 3$0^{\circ}C$, the influences of mix proportioning factors on the slump-flow and slump of the lightweight polyester mortars are examined, and the empirical equations for the slump predictions are successfully proposed.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate toughening of unsaturated polyester resin by addition of polyuretane liquid rubber. In general, unsaturated polyester resin has strong brittleness in spite of its high strength Therefore; it is difficult to use unsaturated polyester mortar for the place where impact resistance is demanded. In this study, it was evaluated strength and Gf by using to polyurethane liquid rubber. As a result, the toughness of unsaturated polyester mortar was increased by polyuretane liquid rubber.

  • Since the material property of binder in polyester polymer concrete has a viscous mechanism, the workability of polyester polymer concrete mixture showed different characteristics from that of cement concretes. Therefore, this study was devised to evaluate workability characteristics of polyester polymer concrete using slump and flow tests. Study results showed that the test temperature and ST/UP ratio were the most dominantly affecting factor on the viscosity of binder, and viscosity of the binder was strongly correlated with the workability of polyester polymer concrete mixture.

  • The effects of water-and oil-repellent finishes on the surface characteristics of polyester fabrics were investigated in this study. Three kinds of fluoropolyment were selected as water=and oil-repellent finishing agents. The effects of water-and oil-repellent finishes were determined by the water repellency and oil repellency. The surface properties of untreated and treated polyester fabrics were evaluated with respects to crease resistance, contact angle and wicking time. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The polyester fabrics treated with fluoropolymers showed much higher water repellency and oil repellency than those of untreated polyester fabrics. Water-and oil-repellency of fabrics were increased with the crystallinity and the hydrophobic-hydrophillic components of fluoropolymers. 2. Water repellency of fabrics treated with fluoropolymer with hydrophobic components was the highest. Oil repellency of fabrics treated with fluoropolymer with high crystallinity was the highest. Water-and oil-repellency of fabrics treated with fluoropolymer with hydrophyllic components was low comparatively. 3. The crease resistance of polyester fabrics treated with fluoropolymer nearly approached to that of untreated polyester fabric. 4. The water-and oil-repellent finishes improved contact angle markedly. Especially the contact angle of ployester fabric treated with fluropolymer with hydrophobic component was the biggest. 5. The wicking time of polyester fabric treated with fluropolymer with hydrophobic component was the longest.

  • Fiber industry is export leading industry that guide national economy development after the 1960s in Korea. But lately, including China and Southeast Asia pursuit, domestic fiber industry is taking serious situation. Various kind methods can be proposed for high value added in fiber industry, the research about color is essential. The importance of color is increasing in modern textile and fashion industry. Color is important factor of textile and fashion industry because color affects strong influence in human's sensitivity. Color expresses by hue, value and chroma but fashion industry is using mainly hue and tone color system. Daegu Gyeongbuk area is domestic maximum syntheic fiber producing district. This study planned the polyester standard color collections for general color management of the polyester industry in Daegu Gyeongbuk. As basic research for this I investigated the color appearance distribution of polyester fabrics in Daegu Gyeongbuk that were produced for the recently 10 years and Japanese polyester color collections "SCOTDIC 2450". Reflect these study finding, in this research planned the usable standard color collections "Hue and Tone Polyester Standard Color 288". This research constructs insufficient domestic color infrastructure and expect that basic role to develop the competitive power for Korean fiber industry.

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the change of the weight loss, tensile strength, flex stiffness, and color-values of the pigment-dyed cotton, polyester/cotton, polyester and nylon fabrics after washing process. Pigment-dyed cotton and polyester/cotton fabrics were treated with the cellulase, of which concentrations were 0, 1, 3 and 5g/l. The time of washing process ranges from 30 to 120 minutes. Pigment-dyed polyester and nylon fabrics were treated without enzyme, of which the washing temperature were 13, 30, $55^{\circ}C$ and the washing time ranges from 30 to 120 minutes. Also, they were tested in terms of the influences of agitation speed(rpm) and additives such as softeners, enzymes, detergents. The weight loss and tensile strength of the pigment-dyed cotton and polyester/cotton fabrics were positively correlated with the concentration of cellulase and washing time. Neither polyester nor nylon fabrics exhibited any change of the weight. All fabrics showed the decline of flex stiffness and decoloration after washing process. Decoloration of cotton and polyester/cotton fabrics was due to both the influence of cellulase and the mechanical rubbing. On the other hand, that of polyester and nylon fabrics was caused by the mechanical rubbing only.
