Polymers for laser sintering were needed in order to fabricate the articles with the three-dimensional duplication equipment of SLS (selective laser sintering) process. The thermal properties, particle size, distribution, and shape of polymer powder had a close relation with the processibility of laser sintering. In this study, we prepared new polymer powders with uniform size and higher bulk density by wet process. Wet process consists of several finely-controlled steps such as dissolution, nucleation, propagation and crystallization. Several additives were added to improve the thermal, rheological, and flow properties.
Since the early 2000s, various fashion design products that use 3D printing technology have constantly been introduced to the fashion industry. However, given the nature of 3D printing technology, the flexible characteristics of material of textile fabrics is yet to be achieved. The aim of this study is to develop the optimal design conditions for production of flexible and elastic 3D printing fabric structure based on plain weave, which is the basic structure in fabric weaving using SLS 3D printing technology. As a the result this study aims to utilize appropriate design conditions as basic data for future study of flexible fashion product design such as textile material. Weaving structural design using 3D printing is based on the basic plain weave, and the warp & weft thickness of 4mm, 3mm, 2mm, 1.5mm, 1mm, and 0.7mm as expressed in Rhino 6.0 CAD software program for making a 3D model of size $1800mm{\times}180mm$ each. The completed 3D digital design work was then applied to the EOS SLS Machine through Maker ware, a program for 3D printer output, using polyamide 12 material which has a rigid durability strength, and the final results obtained through bending flexibility tests. In conclusion, when designing the fabric structure design in 3D printing using SLS method through application of polyamide 12 material, the thickness of 1 mm presented the optimal condition in order to design a durable digital textile structure with flexibility and elasticity of the 3D printing result.
Wool, silk and nylon 6 fabrics were treated with low-temperature plasma under atmospheric pressure of acetone/argon or helium/argon for 30 and 180 sec, and then dyed with leveling type acid dye, C.I. Acid Red 18 and milling type acid dye, C.I. Acid Blue 83. In spite of short time of the plasma treatment for thirty seconds, the color depth of wool fabrics was increased remarkably with both of the plasma gases, aceton/argon or helium/argon and with the kinds of dyes i.e., levelin type or milling type. But the atmosperic low-temperature plasmas did not increase the depth of silk and nylon 6 fabrics dyed with both of the acid dyes regardless of the teated time and plasma gases. It seems that low-temperature plasma by atmospheric-pressure discharge is effective for improvement of dyeing of wools as is the same way with the low-temperature plasma by glow discharge. The kinds of plasma gases and treated time did not influnce the depth of wool fabric pretreted with the atmosperic low-temperature plasmas.
This study is for stabilizer, a parts of automotive suspension system, that would be changed to Plastic Material. The part is designed and analyze by PRO-E. The position of Weld Line is founded by the C-mold, computer software with FEM. Then a Mold is designed by consideration with locating Weld Line. Mechanical property tests, such as tensile test, compression test, ball pull-out test, fatigue test and durability test are done the part by SAE test spec. Most of all the result of the tests show over requirement result without the compression test.
1, 3-Di(dodecanoyl)-2, 7-dioxy-6, 8-di(2-hydroxyethyl)-1, 3, 6, 8-tetraazacyclodecane(DDDT) and pentaerythritol monostearate(PMS) were synthesized as a main component for softner. O/W type softner(DPSA) was prepared by blending DDDT and PMS with polyoxyethylene(10) castor oil, polyoxyethylene(20) oleyl ether, and polyoxyethylene(10) monolaurate. After treatment of DPSA to all cotton fabrics, the physical properties such as tear strength, crease recovery, and flexing abrasion resistance were measured. As a result of the measurement, DPSA was proved to be durable softner with good softness.
A method of functionalization of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) at room temperature using dry ozone gas is described. The resulting MWNT were characterized by Fourier transform infrared, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. Combined to these analyses and solubility in liquids, it could be concluded that the dry ozone gas exposure introduces polar functional groups such as carboxylic groups to MWNT similar to acidic modification of MWNT. Particularly, the stable dispersion of MWNT in water after ozone treatment above a critical level could be obtained, implying potential bio-application. The hydrophilic functional groups on the MWNT introduced by ozone oxidation were helpful in improving the interaction with functional groups in PA6 such as $-NH_2$ and -CONH- resulting in improved mechanical properties.
Poly Sulfone nanofibers were electrospun to fabricate membranes of different characteristics. To fabricate the fiber mats, polymer concentration, flowrate, and current density were determined as the most influencing factors affecting the overall performance of the membranes and studied through Response Surface Methodology. The Box-Behnken Design method (three factors at three levels) was used to design, analyze, and optimize the parameters to achieve the best possible performance of the electrospun membranes in forward osmosis process. Also, internal concentration polarization that characterizes the efficiency of the forward osmosis membranes was determined to better assess the overall performance of the fabricated electrospun membranes. Water flux to reverse salt flux was considered as the main response to assess the performance of the membranes. As confirmed experimentally, best membrane performance with the minimal structural parameter value could be achieved when predicted optimal values were used to fabricate the membranes through electrospinning process.
Polymer alloys of poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET) and nylon6(PA6) which were not miscible each other by themselves were successfully prepared through melt compounding using a twin-screw extruder by utilizing epoxy as reactive compatibilizer. At the epoxy(DGEBA) amount of 0.5~2wt%, the domain size(average diameter) of the discontinuous phase could be reduced up to 0.2${\mu}m$ from 1-5${\mu}m$ that of the simple blend without epoxy. The reaction was presumed to happen mostly at interphase from the result of maximum increase of melt viscosity at the middle range of PET/PA6 blend ratio. It is expected that alloy fibers of PET/epoxy/PA6 with enough mechanical strength for use can be prepared.
Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) are covalently functionalized with isocyanates by directly reacting commercial hydroxyl functionalized MWCNTs with excess 4,4'-methylenebis (phenyl isocyanate) (MDI) and hexamethylene diiosocyanate (HDI). HDI-modified MWCNTs results in a higher surface isocyanate density than MDI-modified MWCNTs. Anionic ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactam is conducted using a sodium caprolactam initiator in combination with a di-functional hexamethylene-1,6-dicarbamoylcaprolactam activator in the presence of isocyanate functionalized MWCNTs. This polymerization proceeds in a highly efficient manner at relatively low reaction temperature (150℃) and short reaction times (10 min). During the polymerization, the isocyanate functionalized MWCNTs act not only as reinforcing fillers but also as second activators. Nanocomposites with HDI modified MWCNTs exhibit higher reinforcement and faster isothermal crystallization than MDI modified MWCNTs. The results show that PA6 chains grow more effectively from HDI modified MWCNT surface than from MDI modified MWCNT surface, resulting in stronger interaction between PA6 and MWCNTs.
For the investigation of medicinal resources from Taraxacum species, the studies were carried out to evaluate the pharmaco-constituents in the aerial part of Taroxacum hallaisanensis, an endemic plant of Korea. From BuOH fraction of the MeOH extract, compound 1 (protocatechuic acid, $C_7H_6O_4,\;3,4-dihydroxy\;benzoic\;acid)$, compound 2 $[C_{22}H_{31}O_6,\;luteolin-7-O-{\alpha}-_L-rhamnopyranosyl(1{\rightarrow}6)-{\beta}-_D-glucopyranoside]$, and compound 3 $[C_{15}H_{20}O_6,\;luteolin-7-O-{\beta}-_D-glucopyranoside]$ were isolated by column chromatographic separation using polyamide and ODS-gel. The structures were elucidated by means of physico-chemical evidences($^1H-NMR,\;{12}^C-NMR$, IR, EI-Mass, FAB-Mass and GC).
