  • Smartphone is integrated into the daily lives of all types of people not even young generation. A touch screen display is a primary input device of a smart phone, a tablet computer, etc. While there are many tough technologies in existence, resistive and capacitive are dominant and currently lead the touch screen panel industry. And a capacitive touch screen panel widely used in smart phones is coated with a material that stores electrical charges. In this study, we tried to manufacture gloves produced with electro-conducting leather as a tool to operate a touch panel screen. Therefore, electrically conductive materials, Polyaniline(PANI), Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT), and Carbon nanotubes (CNT) were applied to the surface of leather to be used as a touching operator for capacitive touch screen panel. The leather samples were treated by simple painting method; firstly, they were painted with aqueous solution containing each of the electrically conductive materials and then dried. This cycle was repeated three times. Consequently, the treated leather samples showed electrical conductivity and reasonable working performance to the capacitive touch screen. And, PANI showed the best performance and highest electrical conductivity, and then PEDOT and, CNT in decreasing order. This is because the solubilities of PANI and PEDOT show higher than dispersibility of CNT. Thus, the concentration of conducting polymers was greater than that of CNT in the treating solutions.

  • A series of random copolymers, composed of 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluoro decyl methacrylate (FDMA) as a $CO_2$-philic monomer and tert-butyl methacrylate (TBMA) as an acid labile monomer, were synthesized by free radical polymerization. The solubility of copolymers in carbon dioxide, light sensitivity at 365 nm exposure, and photoresist pattern formation properties were investigated. Furthermore, sub micron-sized poly(styrenesulfonate) : poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PSS : PEDOT) conducting polymer patterns were successfully prepared by pattern transfer.

  • Indium tin oxide (ITO) transparent electrode film has been widely adopted for the various applications such as display and electric vehicle. In this paper, we studied how to enhance the thermoforming stability of ITO film by applying the highly conductive Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) thin layer. Based on the change of sheet resistance value, the influence of the additional solvent with different boiling point was investigated for the PEDOT:PSS coating solution. In addition, by analyzing optical transmittance and Raman spectrum, we confirmed the key mechanism which determine the final electrical conductivity of the PEDOT:PSS on ITO film using an ethylene glycol solvent. The final ITO transparent electrode coated with PEDOT:PSS performed the outstanding endurance of electrical conduction even in 126% stretching condition.

  • Gel polymer electrolytes were prepared by immersing a porous poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) membrane in an electrolyte solution containing small amounts of polymerizable additive (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene, thiophene, biphenyl). The organic additives were electrochemically oxidized to form conductive polymer films on the electrode at high potential. With the gel polymer electrolytes containing different organic additive, lithium-ion polymer cells composed of carbon anode and LiCo$O_2$ cathode were assembled and their cycling performances were evaluated. Adding small amounts of thiophene or 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene to the gel polymer electrolyte was found to reduce the charge transfer resistance in the cell and it thus exhibited less capacity fading and better high rate performance.

  • We develop single-crystal poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiopene nanowires using liquid-bridge-mediated nanotransfer printing via vapor phase polymerization. This direct printing method can simultaneously enable the synthesis, alignment and patterning of the nanowires from molecular ink solutions. Twoor three-dimensional complex structures of various single-crystal organic nanowires were directly fabricated over a large area using many types of molecular inks. This method is capable of generating several optoelectronic devices. LB-nTM is based on the direct transfer of various materials from a mold to a substrate via a liquid bridge between them. To demonstrate its usefulness, we used LB-nTM to fabricate nanowire field-effect transistors and arrays of 6,13-bis (triisopropyl- silylethynyl) pentacene (TIPS-PEN) nanowire field-effect transistors.

  • We fabricate poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiopene patterns using liquid-bridge-mediated nanotransfer (LB-nTM) printing via vapor phase polymerization (VPP). LB-nTM printing method can simultaneously enable the synthesis, alignment and patterning of the nanowires from molecular ink solutions. Two- or three-dimensional complex structures of VPP-PEDOT were directly fabricated over a large area using many types of molecular inks. VPP method is a versatile technique that can be used to obtain highly conducting coatings of conjugated polymer on both conducting and non-conducting substrates. The PEDOT patterns has analyzed crystallinity from X-ray diffraction pattern and select-area diffraction patterns. In addition, the PEDOT pattern has high conductivity compared other conducting polymers.

  • A series of statistical random copolymers of dioctylfluorene (DOF) and 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) were synthesized by Ni (0) mediated polymerization and their light-emitting properties were compared with poly (9,9-di-n-octylfluorene) (PDOF). The synthesized polymers were characterized using UV-vis spectroscopy, TGA, photoluminescence (PL) & electroluminescence (EL) spectroscopy and by conducting molecular weight studies. The resulting polymers were found to be thermally stable and readily soluble in organic solvents. The UV-visible absorption and PL emission spectra of the copolymers were gradually red-shifted as the fraction of EDOT in copolymers increased. Light-emitting devices were fabricated in an ITO (indium-tin oxide)/PEDOT/polymer/Ca/Al configuration. Interestingly, the EL spectra of these devices were similar to the PL spectra of the corresponding polymer film. However, the EL devices constructed from the copolymer showed more than 10 times higher efficiency level than the devices constructed from the PDOF homopolymer. This higher efficiency is possibly the result of better charge carrier balance in the copolymer systems due to the lower HOMO levels of the copolymers in comparison to that of PDOF homopolymer.

  • To improve the external quantum efficiency by means of the optimization of the polymer light emitting diodes(PLEDs) structure, the PLED with ITO/PEDOT:PSS/(PFO)/PFO:MEH-PPV/LiF/Al structure were fabricated and investigated the electrical and optical properties for the prepared devices. ITO(indium tin oxide) and PEDOT:PSS [poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly(styrene sulfolnate)] were used as transparent anode film and hole transport materials, respectively. PFO[poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene)] and MEHPPV[poly(2-methoxy-5(2-ethylhe xoxy)-1,4-phenylenevinyle)] were used as the light emitting host and dopant materials. The doping concentration of MEH-PPV was 9wt% with thickness of about $400{\AA}$. We investigated the dependence of the PFO thickness ranging from $200{\AA}$ to $300{\AA}$ on the electrical, optical properties of PLEDs. Among prepared PLED devices with different PFO thicknesses, the highest value of the luminance was obtained for the PLED device with $250{\AA}$ in thickness. As a result, the current density and luminance ware found to be about $400mA/cm^2$ and $1500cd/m^2$ at 13V, respectively. In addition, the luminance and current efficiency of PLED device with double emitting layer (PFO/PFO:MEH-PPV) were improved about 3 times compared with the one with single emitting layer (PFO:MEH-PPV).

  • The influence of a silane layer on the performances of polymer light emitting diode(pLED)s has been studied. Glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane(GPS) with an epoxy functional group was used as a surface modifier for ITO substrates. The GPS layer was inserted between an ITO and a poly(3,4)-ethylenedioxythiophene/polystyrenesulfonate(PEDOT) by wet process and the performances of PLEDs were investigated. The introduction of GPS layer increased the brightness and efficiency of PLEDs by 30%. In addition, the lifetime of PLEDs was also improved considerably by using GPS as a surface modifier.

  • In this paper, white polymer light emitting diodes(WPLEDs) were fabricated and investigated the electrical and optical properties for the prepared devices. ITO(indium tin oxide) and PEDOT:PSS [poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfolnate)] as anode and hole injection materials, PFO [poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene)] and MEH-PPV [poly(2-methoxy-5(2-ethylhe xoxy)-1,4-phenylenevinyle)] were used as the light emitting host and guest materials, respectively. The LiF(lithium flouride) and Al(aluminum) were used electron injection materials and cathode materials. Finally, the WPLED with structure of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PFO:MEH-PPV/LiF/Al was fabricated. The prepared WPLED showed white emission with CIE coordinates of (x=0.36, y=0.35) at the applied voltage of 9V. The maximum current density and luminance were about $740mA/cm^2\;and\;900cd/m^2$ at 13V, respectively. And the maximum current efficiency was 0.37 cd/A at $200cd/m^2$ in luminance.
