In order to construct the extrusion die surface of arbitrarily shaped sections, an automatic surface construction method based on NURBS surface and area mapping method is proposed in the present work. A center point fur area mapping is determined by introducing the mapping concept based on constant area proportionality between original billet and final product. The characteristic points of inlet profile are determined using the traditional area mapping method and the root finding numerical method. The inlet and outlet profiles are precisely described with NURBS curves using the characteristic points of entry and exit sections. For the construction of NURBS surface, an interpolation method for the pre-determined two section curves has been developed to be used in the generation of interior control points and weights. To show the validity of the proposed method, automatic die surface generation is carried out for the several kinds of shaped sections.
Recently, shape analysis of human organs has achieved much attention, owing to its potential to localize structural abnormalities. For a group-wise shape analysis, it is important to accurately restore the shape of a target structure in each subject and to build the inter-subject shape correspondences. To accomplish this, we propose a shape modeling method based on the Laplacian deformation framework. We deform a template model of a target structure in the segmented images while restoring subject-specific shape features by using Laplacian surface representation. In order to build the inter-subject shape correspondences, we implemented the progressive weighting scheme for adaptively controlling the rigidity parameter of the deformable model. This weighting scheme helps to preserve the relative distance between each point in the template model as much as possible during model deformation. This area-preserving deformation allows each point of the template model to be located at an anatomically consistent position in the target structure. Another advantage of our method is its application to human organs of non-spherical topology. We present the experiments for evaluating the robustness of shape modeling against large variations in shape and size with the synthetic sets of the second cervical vertebrae (C2), which has a complex shape with holes.
Kinect sensor has two output data which are produced from red green blue (RGB) sensor and depth sensor, it is called color image and depth map, respectively. Although this device's prices are cheapest than the other devices for three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction, we need extra work for reconstruct a smooth 3D data and also have semantic meaning. It happened because the depth map, which has been produced from depth sensor usually have a coarse and empty value. Consequently, it can be make artifact and holes on the surface, when we reconstruct it to 3D directly. In this paper, we present a method for solving this problem by using implicit surface representation. The key idea for represent implicit surface is by using radial basis function (RBF) and to avoid the trivial solution that the implicit function is zero everywhere, we need to defined on-surface point and off-surface point. Based on our simulation results using captured face as an input, we can produce smooth 3D face and fill the holes on the 3D face surface, since RBF is good for interpolation and holes filling. Modified anisotropic diffusion is used to produced smoothed surface.
In this paper, we present the methods to predict the milled surface shapes in profile milling process. In the cutting process, tools are deflected due to the cutting forces varying with the imposed depth of cut and feedrate. Thus, the final shapes of the milled surface, generated by the nominal tool trajectory, are different from the required profile. In order to predict the milled surface shapes, we present two methods based on: (1) the deflected tool profile and (2) the trace of contact point between the tool and the workpiece. In the first method, we make an assumption that the milled surface corresponds to the deflected tool profile. In another method, we make we make an assumption that the milled surface is generated by the trace of the contact point between the cutting edge of the tool and workpiece. We present the surface generation process by calculating the trajectory of the contact points on the workpiece. Several simulations and experiments are performed to verify the proposed milled surface prediction methods.

We consider a surface reconstruction problem from geometrical points (i.e., points given without any order) distributed on a series of smooth parallel cross sections in ${\mathbb{R}}^3$. To solve the problem, we utilize the natural points ordering method in ${\mathbb{R}}^2$, described in [18], which is a method of reconstructing a curve from a set of sample points and is based on the concept of diffusion motions of a small object from one point to the other point. With only the information of the positions of these geometrical points, we construct an acceptable surface consisting of triangular facets using a heuristic algorithm to link a pair of parallel cross-sections constructed via the natural points ordering method. We show numerical simulations for the proposed algorithm with some sets of sample points.
An Emergency Destruction System is inevitable for ensuring safety both at sea and in populated areas, particularly during emergency detonations triggered by abnormal missile flight or upon mission completion. This paper introduces a novel method for developing an Emergency Destruction System capable of precisely calculating the Instantaneous Impact Point(IIP) during high-speed, maneuverable long-range surface-to-air missile flight tests. The Emergency Destruction System designed for long-range surface-to-air missile flight tests generates impact position tables that meticulously incorporate wind errors and navigation equations based on the Earth's ellipsoidal model. Factors such as the Coriolis effect and the direction of the gravitational acceleration vector are accounted for, significantly enhancing the accuracy of IIP determination amidst highly variable missile speed and attitude.
In order to construct the extrusion die surface of arbitrarily shaped sections, an automatic surface construction method based on NURBS surface and area mapping method is proposed in the present work. In the present study, a center point for area mapping is determined by introducing the marring concept based on constant area proportionality between original billet and final product. The characteristic points of inlet profile is determined using the traditional area mapping method and the root finding numerical method. The inlet and outlet profiles are precisely described with NURBS curves using the characteristic points of entry and exit sections. This paper introduces a new digitization method with sensor fusion for shape measurement in reverse engineering. Digitization can be classified into contact and non-contact type according to the measurement devices. Important thing in digitization is speed and accuracy. The former is excellent in speed and the latter is good for accuracy. Sensor fusion in digitization intends to incorporate the merits of both types so that the system can be automatized. Firstly, non-contact sensor with vision system acquires coarse 3D point data rapidly. This process is needed to identify and loco]ice the object located at unknown position on the table. Secondly, accurate 3D point data can be automatically obtained using scanning probe based on the previously measured coarse 3D point data. In the research, a great number of measuring points of equi-distance were instructed along the line acquired by the vision system. Finally, the digitized 3D point data are approximated to the rational B-spline surface equation, and the free-formed surface information can be transferred to a commercial CAD/CAM system via IGES translation in order to machine the modeled geometric shape.
The porosity (including the specific surface area and pore volume-diameter distribution) of montmorillonitic soft rock (MSR) was studied experimentally with an electrochemical treatment, based on which the change in porosity was further analyzed from the perspective of its electrokinetic potential (${\zeta}$ potential) and the isoelectric point of the electric double layer on the surface of the soft rock particles. The variation between the ${\zeta}$ potential and porosity was summarized, and used to demonstrate that the properties of softening, degradation in water, swelling, and disintegration of MSR can be modified by electrochemical treatment. The following conclusions were drawn. The specific surface area and total pore volume decreased, whereas the average pore diameter increased after electrochemical modification. The reduction in the specific surface area indicates a reduction in the dispersibility and swelling-shrinking of the clay minerals. After modification, the ${\zeta}$ potential of the soft rock was positive in the anodic zone, there was no isoelectric point, and the rock had lost its properties of softening, degradation in water, swelling, and disintegration. The ${\zeta}$ potential increased in the intermediate and cathodic zones, the isoelectric point was reduced or unchanged, and the rock properties are reduced. When the ${\zeta}$ potential is increased, the specific surface area and the total pore volume were reduced according to the negative exponent law, and the average pore diameter increased according to the exponent law.
