  • This paper presents the result of driving performance analysis of PMSM type AC servo motor based on control system using a microprocessor. The experiment using the microprocessor is tested with a 120[v], 200[w] PMSM type AC servo motor. The PWM signal generated in the microprocessor for the servo motor voltage is chapped by power transistor modules to change the AC servo motor speed. The torque of the AC servo motor with a permanent magnet can be easily controlled over a wide range by changing the AC servo motor current.

  • 속도 범위가 넓은 고속 PMSM의 정현파 구동용 인버터에서 전동기 전류 리플과 인버터 스위칭 손실을 저감시키는 방법으로서, 중저속에서 직류 링크전압을 감소시키는 방법을 제안한다. 직류 링크전압 조절용 컨버터를 이용하며, 직류 링크 전압과 전동기 속도 사이의 관계를 설정하고 이를 제어 알고리듬에 반영한다. 제안된 기법에 의한 전류 리플 저감효과를 시뮬레이션으로 확인한다.

  • Generally, speed control system is used to control the elevator door. The whole speed profile must be installed in the speed controller of the door control system. However, it is not easy to modify the speed profile when door opening size and time are changed. In this paper, the making speed profile is discussed by the door opening size and time. The position control algorithms of PMSM for elevator door system are compared with general speed control, position control method with speed controller, and position control with speed command feedforward compensation by simulation using MATLAB/SIMULINK.

  • A DSP-based robust nonlinear speed control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) is presented. A quasi-linearized and decoupled model including the influence of parameter variations and speed measurement error on the nonlinear speed control of a PMSM is derived. Based on this model, a boundary layer integral sliding mode controller to improve the robustness and performance of the nonlinear speed control of a PMSM is designed and compared with the conventional controller. To show the validity of the proposed control scheme, simulations and experimental works are carried out and compared with the conventional control scheme.

  • This paper presents observer-based on-line overload monitoring scheme for a PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) drive system. Proposed scheme is to monitor overload status of motor drive system at remote place. The drive system is previously installed on main system and has no communication function. Proposed scheme consists of intelligent sensing head and monitoring part. Intelligent sensing head acquire motor 3-Phase currents and transmit data to monitoring part over serial communication interface. Monitoring part estimates motor speed using state observer. By comparing estimated speed with reference speed, we can detect motor fault. In this scheme observed information must coded and transmitted over a digital communication channel with finite capacity. We consider communication constraint as time delay and we design discrete-time observer. The proposed scheme is tested on the actual drive system.

  • This paper described an optimal control technique for position control of an inverter-fed PMSM drive. A control system of PM machine for position, speed and current control based on optimal sliding mode control system is discussed. This is an effective means to keep a system insensitive to parameter variation, disturbance and chattering reduction. The main purpose of the control is to improve the dynamic response of the PMSM with the load of the inertial plant. The optimal sliding mode control strategy is analyzed and the performance is investigated by the computer simulation using actual parameters of a drive system, Simulation results are given and discussed.

  • In this paper, a robust speed control is proposed for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor system. PMSM without reduction gear has been widely used in high performance application such as robots and machine tools. It is well known that the control performance of the PMSM is very sensitive to load disturbance and system parameter variation. The idea of the proposed speed controller based on combination of sliding mode control with fuzzy gain scheduling. The sliding mode controller leads to fast system dynamics of slight sensitivity to the load disturbance and system parameter variations, the fuzzy gain scheduling mechanism reduces the chattering phenomenon. The simulation results have proved that the proposed control scheme provides a robust control performance under load disturbance and system parameter variation.

  • This paper is concerned with speed tracking control problem for permanent-magnet synchronous drives (PMSM) in the presence of an variable load torque and unknown model parameters. The disturbance of speed control caused by inaccuracy of model parameters has been investigated. A load torque observer has been proposed to observe the load torque and estimate the disturbance caused by inaccuracy of model parameters. Both inertia and friction coefficient are identified in gradient descent approach. The stability condition of the observer has also been studied. Furthermore an improved feed-forward control has been introduced to reduce the speed track error. The proposed control strategy has been verified by both simulation and experimental results.

  • This paper proposes improvement on sensorless vector control performance of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) with sliding mode observer. An adaptive observer gain and second order cascade low-pass filter (LPF) were used to improve the estimation accuracy of the rotor position and speed. The adaptive observer gain was applied to suppress the chattering intensity and obtained by using the Lyapunov's stability criterion. The second order cascade LPF was designed for the system to escalate the filtering performance of the back-emf estimation. Furthermore, genetic algorithm was used to optimize the system PI controller's performance. Simulation results showed the effectiveness of the suggested improvement strategy. Moreover, the strategy was useful for the sensorless vector control of PMSM to operate on the low-speed area.

  • This paper presents a new velocity estimation strategy of a non-salient permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) drive without high frequency signal injection or special PWM pattern. This approach is based on the d-axis current regulator output voltage of the drive system which has the information of rotor position error. The rotor velocity can be estimated through a rotor position tracking PI controller that controls the position error to zero. For zero and low speed operation, the PI gains of rotor position tracking controller have a variable structure. The PI tuning formulas are derived by analyzing this control system using the frequency domain specifications such as phase margin and bandwidth assignment.
