We have surveyed test methods for ophthalmic lens coatings and compared the coating quality of lenses supplied by manufactures. Plastic ophthalmic lenses are produced in increasingly larger volumes. However, their softness have need resistant coatings absolutely essential in most cases. Coating lenses are typically evaluated in physical and chemical properties through random selection from produced lenses. No international standard test methods for ophthalmic lenses exist for issues such as adhesion, abrasion resistance, hardness, chemical and hot water resistance with exception of transmittance. We have learned that there is a great deal of confusion regarding the methods employed in the various tests for ophthalmic coating lenses. For this reason, test methods for ophthalmic lens coatings are needed making all of international or domestic standards available.

In the optical drive system, adopting the optical flying-type head (OFH) flying on a removable plastic disk, the flying stability of the small OFH should be carefully considered to ensure the reliability for first surface recording. Additional micro actuators for focus servo are discussed for better interface of optical flying head on thin cover layered plastic disk to eliminate focus error due to the non-uniformity of cover layer thickness and the tolerance of lens assembly. This study gives two simulation results on the flying stability of the OFH. One is the dependence of the flying height and pitch angle variations on the wavelength and amplitude of disk waviness. The other is the flying stability of the slider and suspension system during the dynamic load/unload (U/UL) process.
In this paper, we developed optical dosimetry system with a plastic scintillator, a commercial 50 mm, f1.8 lens, and a commercial high-sensitivity CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) camera. And, the correction processors of vignetting, geometrical distortion and scaling were established. Using the developed system, we can measured a percent depth dose, a beam profile and a dose linearity for 6 MV medical LINAC (Linear Accelerator). As results, the optically measured percent depth dose was well matched with the measured percent depth dose by ion-chamber within 2% tolerance. And the determined flatness was 2.8%. We concluded that the optical dosimetry system was sufficient for application of absorbed dose monitoring during radiation therapy.

Chemotactic migration of bone forming cell, osteoblast, is an important event during bone formation, bone remodeling, and fracture healing. Migration of cells is mediated by adhesion receptors, such as integrins, that link the cell to extracellular matrix ligands, type I collagen, fibronectin, laminin and depend on interaction between integrin and extracellular ligand. Our study was designed to investigate the effect of extracellular matrix like fibronectin, laminin, type I collagen on migration of osteoblast. Migration distance and speed of MC3T3-E1 cell on extracellular matrix-coated glass were measured for 24 hours using 0.01% type I collagen, 0.01% fibronectin, 100 microliter/ml laminin. The migration distance and speed of MC3T3-E1 cell was compared using a video-microscopy system. To determine migration speed, cells were viewed with a 4 phase- contrast lens and video recorded. Images were captured using a color CCD camera and saved in 8-bit full-color mode. The migration distance on 0.01% type I collagen or 0.01% fibronectin was longer than that on $100{\mu}l/ml$ laminin-coated glass. The migration speed on fibronectin-coated glass was 68 micrometer/hour which was fastest. The migration speed on type I collagen-coated glass was similar with that on fibronectin-coated glass. The latter two migration speeds were faster than that on no-coated glass. On the other hand, the average migration speed on laminin-coated glass was 37micrometer/hour and not different from that of control group. In conclusion, the extracelluar matrix ligands such as type I collagen and fibronectin seem to play an important role in cell migration. The type I collagen or fibronectin coated scaffold is more effective for migration of osteoblast in tissue engineering process.
Purpose: This study is to prepare tintable hard coatings for plastic lenses and to evaluate spectroscopic and surface characteristic for these coatings. Methods: These coatings had been prepared by the sol-gel method using TEOS, MTMS and GPTS. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman spectroscopy, infrared (IR) spectroscopy and UV/VIS spectroscopy have been used to investigate the optical and structural characteristics of the coatings. Results: Tint ability of this coating was about 2 times higher than general hard coatings. The lenses applied by tintable hard coatings showed excellent adhesion, abrasion resistance, hot water resistance, and chemical resistance. Pencil hardness was 5H and the surface of coatings was smooth and free of cracks. Conclusions: This hard coating system for plastic lenses offered a hard and stable surface that could be tinted.
Background and Objectives The picosecond 755 nm alexandrite laser was first approved by the US FDA in 2012. A previous study described the use of a 1,064 nm picosecond laser with a micro-lens array (MLA) in peri-areolar scarring from breast reconstruction surgery and reported significant improvement in the texture and aesthetic appearance of the scar without other wound complications. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the improvement of overall scarring, not just pigmentation, in the picosecond laser treatment of patients with pigmentations. Materials and Methods Sixteen patients who underwent 1,064 nm picosecond laser treatment from June 2016 to December 2018 were enrolled in this study. Patients received two to six sessions of picosecond laser treatment at intervals of 4 weeks. Before and after the laser treatment, the patients evaluated their own satisfaction score and a physician evaluated the Vancouver Scar Scale. To evaluate the satisfaction score and complication rate, a retrospective chart review was done. Results Seven were female and nine were male. The mean of the patients' satisfaction score before the treatment was 1.44 (interquartile range [IQR], 1-2) and 3.00 (IQR 2.25-3.75) six months after treatment. The mean of the Vancouver Scar Scale before the treatment was 9.69 (IQR 8-11), and 6.25 (IQR 5-7.75) six months after treatment. All the results were statistically significant (p<0.01). Conclusion This study provides evidence that the use of a 1,064 nm picosecond laser treatment for pigmented scars can be effective in improving the pigmentation and overall scar status, including vascularity, height, and pliability, with the results of a decrease in the VSS scores between treatments.

Micro-tensile testing system, consisting of a micro tensile loading system and micro-ESPI(Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry) system, has been developed for measurement of micro-tensile properties of thin micro-materials. Micro-tensile loading system had a load cell with the maximum capacity of 50N and micro actuator with resolution of 4.5nm in stroke. The system was used to apply a tensile load to the micro-sized specimen. During tensile loading, the micro-ESPI system acquired interferornetric speckle patterns in the deformed specimen and measured the in-plane tensile strain. The ESPI system consisted of a CCD-camera with a lens and the window-based program developed for this experiment. Using this system, stress-strain curves for 4 kinds of electrolytic copper foil 18$\square$m thick were obtained. From these curves, tensile properties, including the elastic modulus. yielding strength and tensile strength, were determined and also values of the plastic exponent and coefficient based on Ramberg-Osgood relationship were evaluated.

Mirror-surface machining is very important machining technology to manufacture optical parts. especially brittle materials. In case of optical plastics, it is produced through both grinding and polishing till now. New machining method which is more efficient and contributed to the protection of the environmental pollution is, therefore, studied. In this , experimental results and an analysis of surface roughness in ultrasonic vibration cutting of optical plastic (CR-39) which is used for optical lens is presented. In results, a comparison of the micro-structure of machined surfaces produced by cutting with ultrasonic vibration and conventional turning is presented by analyzing S.E.M. photograph. Also, wavelength spectrum analysis is performed to investigate the surface-characteristics machined by ultrasonic vibration cutting.

In this study, the friction weldability and properties of inconel alloy(IN738LC) to stainless steel (STS304) was investigat-ed. Upset length increased according to increment of friction pressure and time. The tensile strength of the friction weld-ing reached 85% of the STS304 base metal strength under the conditions of 8 sec friction time, 50MPa friction pressure and 150 MPa upset pressure. From the result of fracture surface analysis, IN738LC section can be joined with STS 304 materials in shape of a convex lens. Also, the temperature of welded interface was measured with k-type thermocouple. Finally the plastic flow confirmed at the welded interface STS304 by micro test.
This paper deals with the non contact optical sensor to measure the shape of transparent plates such as glass panel of LCD(Liquid Crystal Display). The conventional methods to obtain the shape or thickness of a transparent plates are contact type sensor such as LVOT(Linear Variable Differential Transformer). Due to the contact between the tip of the sensor and the surface of objects, the tip is abraded. In addition, the high temperature glass casting makes the size of sensor body changed. These reasons makes the sensor degraded. In this paper, to overcome these problem, we proposed a low cost noncontact optical sensor this is composed of the Hologram laser unit of a CD-Pickup and a plastic lens. To evaluate the performance of the proposed optical sensor, a series of experiments were performed for various measurement condition. Based upon observation of the experimental result, the developed sensor shows good result for measuring the shape of transparent plates.
