사출성형 조건에 따른 정밀 플라스틱 나사의 형상정밀도 향상에 관한 연구 (Study on Improvement of Dimensional Accuracy of a Precision Plastic Screw Under Various Injection-Molding Conditions)

  • 플라스틱 나사는 경량성, 내식성, 열 및 전기절연성이 우수하여 최근 금속나사 대체용도로 사용 되고 있다. 플라스틱 나사는 사출성형에 의해 제작되며 성형과정에서 수축이 발생하여 형상정밀도가 저하된다. 특히 소형 정밀나사의 경우 마이크로미터 단위의 정밀도를 요구하는 관계로 소성가공에 의해 제작되는 금속나사를 대체하기 위해서는 많은 어려움이 따른다. 본 연구에서는 사출성형 공정의 수치해석을 통해 금형설계 인자를 결정하였고, 실험계획법을 적용하여 변형량을 최소화하기 위한 성형조건을 도출함으로써 플라스틱 나사의 형상정밀도 향상을 위한 연구를 수행하였다.

회귀분석법을 이용한 사출금형의 수축률 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study Shrinkage Analysis of Injection mold using Regression Analysis)

  • It is not easy to predict the shrinkage rate of a plastic injection mold in its design process. The shrinkage rate should be considered as one of the important performances to produce the reliable products. The shrinkage rate can be determined by using the CAE tools in the design produces. However, since the analysis can take minutes to hours, the high computational costs of performing the analysis limit their use in design optimization. Therefore this study was carried out to presume for mutual relation of analysis condition to get the optimum average shrinkage by regression analysis. The results shown that coefficient of determination of regression equation has a fine reliability over 87% and regression equation of average shrinkage is made by regression analysis.

전자회로 일체형 돔 형상의 플라스틱 부품 성형에 관한 연구 (A study on the molding of dome shaped plastic parts embedded with electronic circuits)

  • Smart systems in different application areas such as automotive, medical and consumer electronics require a novel manufacturing method of electronic, optical and mechanical functions into products. Traditional methods including mechanical assembly, bonding of plastic and electronic circuit cause the problems in large size of products and complicated manufacturing processes. In this study, thermoforming and film insert molding were applied to fabricate a dome shaped plastic part embedded with electronic circuits. The deformation of patterns printed on PET film was predicted by thermoforming simulation using T-SIM, and the results were compared with those by experiment. In order to decrease spring-back after thermoforming, the Taguchi method of design of experiment was used. Through ANOVA analysis, it was found that mold temperature was the most dominant parameter for spring-back. By using flow analysis, gate design was performed to decrease injection pressure. During film insert molding, the wash-out of ink printed on film occurred for Polycarbonate. When the resin was changed to PMMA, the wash-out disappeared due to low melt temperature.

  • This paper describes the optimization of injection molding conditions to minimize sink marks. Sink marks, which refer to a small depression on the surface opposite a thick wall thickness, are often encounted in injection molded plastic parts. Part geometry, material properties and processing conditions during injection molding can affect the sink mark depth. We designed the runner system which is possible balanced filling to cavities using CAE program $Moldflow^{TM}$ and then obtained optimal processing conditions by Taguchi's Robust Design technique. By actual injection molding using optimized mold and molding conditions, it confirmed that sink mark depth decreased zero compared to 1mm level in the conventional mold and process.

  • This research covers the development of axi-symmetric plastic elements for injection molding with insert steel such as high stiffness Sabot. The functional requirements of sabot are concentricity and fracture resistance about vertical and horizontal forces. For these, an analysis of characteristics of PEI(polyetherimide) polymer is performed by standard test specimen with accordance of ASTM test guidance. Moldflow analysis and simulation of injection molding process are carried out in order not only to estimate of the warpage but also to predict the characteristics of residual stresses which both product and structure of mold may have. A new vertical side injection machine and transverse mold have been constructed. Results of the measuring concentricity and fracture test after molding of sabot are satisfied to design specification over Cp $ratio{\geq}1.33$. Finally, this technique needs more research application to others axi-symmetric elements having different radius with insert steel md structure analysis from now on.

모바일폰 커버의 휨특성 평가를 위한 사출 성형에 관한 연구 (A Study on Plastic Injection Molding for Warpage Characteristics Evaluation of Mobile Phone Cover)

  • In this study, warpage characteristics of mobile phone cover through injection molding process were investigated using design of experiments in injection molding process. Warpage in plastic injection molding has a significant effect on quality of product. Effects of injection time, packing pressure, packing time, mold temperature and melt temperature on the warpage of mobile phone cover were considered by numerical analysis and experiment with Taguchi method. The degree of warpage for the injection molded part was measured by using three dimensional coordinate measurement machine. It was shown that temperature control factor has more significant effect on the warpage of mobile phone cover than pressure control factor.

에프세타 렌즈의 사출 성형 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Analysis of Injection Molding of F-theta Lens)

  • In this study, we investigate the injection molding of f-theta lens, an important element of the laser scanning unit of laser printers and scanning systems. The f-theta lens is an aspherical plastic lens that must be molded with a precision of seconds. An injection molding method is often used for mass producing aspherical plastic lenses at a low cost. In the injection molding process, costs related to forming and injection are included. Therefore, in this study, to determine the shrinkage and deformation of injection molded f-theta lens, we predict the pressure and temperature distributions. Further, based on the analysis of the predictions, we maximize the design efficiency and verify the cost and development period reduction.

휴대폰 키패드의 최적 사출성형 공정 설계 (Optimization of injection molding process for plastic keypad on mobile phone)

  • Deformation frequently occurring in injection molded products is a phenomenon displayed due to uneven shrinkage distribution and orientation of the whole molded product. Shrinkage deformation is a very serious problem because it causes deformation of the molded article and shortens the performance of the product. In this paper, we are focusing on the warpage of keypad in mobile phone. In other words, we focused on minimizing keypad deformation. In the study, the Taguchi method was applied to find the injection molding conditions that minimize the deformation of the keypad. In the case of this keypad, the main factors influencing the shrinkage deformation were predicted as the melting temperature, coolant temperature and cooling time. In addition, the optimum molding conditions were obtained and the shrinkage strain was minimized. Experiments for the Taguchi method and verification of optimal molding conditions were performed using an injection molding analysis program.

  • In injection molding, location of gates have great influence on the quality of plastic parts. Usually, they are located by releated trial and errors of experienced mold designers. In this topic we will present the numerical algorithm for finding the optimal gate locations. Optimization algorithm is devided into two stages. In the first stage, candidated optimal gate locations can be found by geometry of part only; whereas in the next step, more acculate gate locations are selected byiterative computation with optimization part and analysis part. So from the following study, we suggested the modified flow-volume method, which will define the optimal gate locations in injection mold design.
