  • Acoustic emission technology is applied to diagnosis the internal leak and operating conditions of the major valves at nuclear power plants. The purpose of this study is to verify availability of the acoustic emission as in-situ diagnosis method. In this study, acoustic emission tests are performed when the pressurized high temperature steam flowed through gate valve(1st stage reheater valve) and glove valve(main steam dump valve) on the normal size of 4 and 8". The valve internal leak diagnosis system for practical field was designed. The acoustic emission method was applied to the valves at the site, and the background noise was measured for the abnormal plant condition. To improve the reliability, a judgment of leak on the system was used various factors which are AE parameters, trend analysis, signal level analysis and RMS(root mean square) analysis of acoustic signal emitted from the valve operating condition internal leak.

  • This study presents a method to predict plant-specific and operational history dependent scaling factors. Realistic and detailed approaches are taken to find scaling factors at reactor coolant. This approach begins with fission product release mechanisms and fundamental release properties of fuel-source nuclide such as fission product and transuranic nuclide. Scaling factors at various waste streams are derived from the predicted reactor coolant scaling factors with the use of radionuclide retention and build up model. This model makes use of radioactive material balance within the radioactive waste processing systems. According to input parameters of plant operation history, scaling factors predicted at reactor coolant and waste streams are well brought out the effects of plant operation history.

  • A methodology of the safety analysis on the fusion power plant is introduced. It starts with the understanding of the physics and engineering of the plant followed by the assessment of the tritium inventory and flow rate. We a, pp.y the probabilistic risk assessment. An event tree that explains the propagation of the accident is constructed and then it is translated in to an influence diagram, that is accident is constructed and then it is translated in to an influence diagram, that is statistically equivalent so far as the parameter updating is concerned. • The objective of this study was to examine the recovery of the power plant cooling tower blowdown water (CTBD) by membrane distillation. The experiments were carried out using a flat plate poly vinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane with a pore diameter of $0.22{\mu}m$ by a direct contact membrane distillation unit (DCMD). The effects of operating parameters such as transmembrane temperature difference (${\Delta}T$), circulation rate and operating time on permeate flux and membrane fouling have been investigated. The results indicated that permeate flux increased with increasing ${\Delta}T$ and circulation rate. Whereas maximum permeate flux was determined as $47.4L/m^2{\cdot}h$ at ${\Delta}T$ of $50^{\circ}C$ for all short term experiments, minimum permeate flux was determined as $7.7L/m^2{\cdot}h$ at ${\Delta}T$ of $20^{\circ}C$. While $40^{\circ}C$ was determined as the optimum ${\Delta}T$ in long term experiments. Inorganic and non-volatile substances caused fouling in the membranes.

  • This research work focuses to design and simulate a 200W solar power system with electrical power conservation scheme as well as thermal power conservation modeling to improve power extraction from solar power plant. Many researchers have been already designed and developed different methods to extract maximum power while there were very researches are available on improving solar power thermally and mechanically. Thermal parameters are also important while discussing about maximizing power extraction of any power plant. A specific type of coolant which have very high boiling point is proposed to be use at the bottom surface of solar panel to reduce the temperature of panel in summer. A comparison between different maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique and proposed MPPT technique is performed. Using this proposed Thermo-electrical MPPT (TE-MPPT) with Deep Learning Algorithm model 40% power is conserved as compared to traditional solar power system models.

  • This study was carried out to analyze some influences on ecological health conditions, threaten by various stressors such as physical, chemical and biological parameters. We collected samples in 2008 from three zones of upstream, midstream and downstream, Gap Stream. We applied multi-metric fish assessment index (MFAI), based on biotic integrity model to the three zones along with habitat evaluations based on Qualitative Habitat Evaluation Index (QHEI). We also examined fish fauna and compositions, and analyzed relations with MFAI values, QHEI values, and various guild types. Chemical parameters such as oragnic matter (BOD, COD), nutrients (TP, $NH_3$-N), coli-form number (as MPN), and suspended solids (SS) were analyzed to identify the relationship among multiple stressor effects. Using the sentinel species of Zacco platypus, the population structures and condition factors were analyzed along with DNA damages related with genotoxicant effects by comet assay. This study using all these parameters showed that stream condition was degraded along the longitudinal gradient from upstream to downstream, and the downstream, especially, was impacted by nutrient enrichment and toxicant exposure from the point source, wastewater treatment plant. Overall results indicated that our approaches applying various parameters may be used as a cause-effect technique in the stream health assessments and also used as a pre-warning tool for diagnosis of ecological degradation.

  • The phenomenon identification and ranking table (PIRT) is an important basis in the nuclear power plant (NPP) thermal-hydraulic analysis. This study focuses on the importance ranking of the input parameters when lacking the PIRT, and the target scenario is the small break loss of coolant accident (SBLOCA) in a pressurized water reactor (PWR) CPR1000. A total of 54 input parameters which might have influence on the figure of merit (FOM) were identified, and the sensitivity measure of each input on the FOM was calculated through an optimized moment-independent global sensitivity analysis method. The importance ranking orders of the parameters were transformed into the Savage scores, and the parameters were categorized based on the Savage scores. A parameter importance ranking table for the SBLOCA scenario of the CPR1000 reactor was obtained, and the influences of some important parameters at different break sizes and different accident stages were analyzed.

  • The effect of topical application with 200,400 and 600 $\mu$g/ml 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) on the fifth larval stadium of the silkworm, B. mori, was analyzed. Larvae treated during fifth larval stadium enhanced larval, cocoon and adult parameters. The larval period was significantly decreased with increase in silk gland weight at 400 and 600 $\mu$g/ml, male cocoon weight and shel1 weight in all the treated groups and filament length and weight at 200 $\mu$g/ml treated group. Length of the ovariole, eggs per ovariole and hatching percentage increased significantly in all the treated groups when compared with those of the carrier control. This suggests that the plant growth regulator 2,4-D in addition to affecting silk production also affect reproductive performance.
