Pretension PSC (Prestressed Concrete) members are subjected to a certain limit of size as they are generally produced in the off-site plant and transferred to the site due to the large scale of the product on system. In this study, a portable pretensioning production system has been developed, which allow us to apply the pretension method on site. Considering that a 50m span PSC girder using the pretension method requires a pressing device to endure a large jacking force, the portable pretension production system has to ensure safety against such a large pretension jacking force. In this study, the portable pretensioning system to produce a 50m span pretension girder was manufactured by using CFT (Concrete Filled steel Tube) members. In order to understand the stability of the system and the behavior of the elements, a static loading test was conducted and the stability of the proposed portable pretensioning production system was confirmed. The developed portable pretension system was applied to several construction sites and was investigated the problems on site. During the pretension girder and slab members that was producted by this pretension system in construction site, it has be found the several advantages such as simple fabrication processes, reduction of prestress-loss, and a decrease of 15% compared with the fabrcation cost of post-tension girder. After due consideration of the problems, this portable pretension system will be improved.

This study was conducted to investigate removal characteristics for Synedra sp. and filter run time (FRT) according to the cell length in the Nakdong River. When used alone flocculent, the removal efficiency for Synedra tenera (around $100{\mu}m$) was constant with 90.9~94.4%, while Synedra acus (around $300{\mu}m$) had the lower removal efficiency as 60~70%. $PACS_2$ and PAC showed 5~6% higher removal for S. acus than others (HiB and LAS). When added coagulant aid, loess had no effect and also needed more amount of flocculent. Sodium Silicate increased the removal rate by max 10.6%. On the other hand, 2.5 mg/L of Polyamine showed 96.9% removal efficiency for S. acus increasing up to 25% more than $PACS_2$ alone. In the effect of water temperature, the removal for S. acus at $15^{\circ}C$ were 6% higher than at $4^{\circ}C$. There was no significant correlation between the removal efficiencys of turbidity and S. acus. The results of this study was similar to the actual water treatment process's removal characteristics for Synedra sp. depending on the cell length and temperature. In the actual process, the numbers of Synedra in settled water was established natural logarithm function with the filter run time (FRT), so we can predict FRT as Synedra numbers.

These studies were attempted to investigate the change of microbial community of anode of microbial fuel cell using swine wastewater in the enrichment step with the lapse of time. Microbial fuel cells enriched by a 1 : 1 mixture of anaerobic digestive juices of the sewage treatment plant and livestock wastewater. Enrichment culture step was divided into three stages to indentify the microorganisms. It was separated by each lag phase, exponential phase, and stationary phase. These steps were determined by the change of the current value. The current after enrichment was generated about $0.84{\pm}0.06mA$. We were cut out the different 17 bands in the DGGE fingerprint gel to do sequencing. The bands which the concentration was increasing or newly appearing with the lapse of time were included for this study. In the lag and exponential phase, Clostridium, Rhodocyclaceae, Bacteriodetes, and Uncultured bacterium etc. were detected. There were in the stationary phase Geobacter sp., Rhodocyclaceae, Candidatus, Nitrospira, Flavobactriaceae and uncultured bacterium etc. Geobactor among microorganisms detected in this study is known as the Electrochemically active microorganisms. It may include electrochemically active microorganisms to be considered as electrical activity microorganisms.

To investigate the availability of solidified wastes as resource, wastewater sludge, waste gypsum and fly ash were mixed and the results with various mixing ratios are as follows. Compressive strength turned out to be increasing as the amount of waste gypsum increases, keeps longer curing inhibition, and higher forming Pressure under the conditions of waste gypsum/sludge ratio 0.31-0.45, and 0.9kg cement as 15% and 1.2kg cement as 20% of total amount. Solidified agent under the fly ash/sludge ratio 0.45, 0.6, compressive strength seemed to be higher than standard one which means solidified wastes with these conditions could be applicable in real life. These results inform that concentrations of the leachate $Cr^{+6}$, Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb solidified matrix, containing low concentration of heavy metal, were cured with/without enough time it still will cause adverse effect on nature environment and application of heavy metal sequester must be needed to reuse industrial wastes from incineration plant solidified matrix. Total cost price, when considering manufacturing capability of the facilities for resourcerizing as 18,000ton was presented 678,664,000 won, as it were, manufacturing cost price was 37,704 won per ton. The results as above has shown that it's possible to use the mixture of waste gypsum/sludge, fly ash/sludge, cement, additions, and solidification matter as substitute of materials like brick, block, interlocking which has proper compressive strength of KS L 5201 and KS F 4004.

The objective of this research is to evaluate the optimum treatment methods for disposal sludge cake at different temperatures and periods of time. The disposal dehydrated sewage cake used in this study was obtained from N wastewater treatment plant in the P City. This system consists of continuous conveyer thermal dryer and pyrolysis. The continual conveyer thermal dryer was operated to evaluate the optimum conditions with temperature settings, ranges from 130 to $180^{\circ}C$, loading rates of 650~750 kg/hr and operating times of 110~120 minutes. The continual pyrolysis was also operated to evaluate the optimum conditions with temperature settings, ranges from 650 to $750^{\circ}C$, loading rates of 100~158 kg/hr and operating times of 20~40 minutes. The sewage sludge cake has a moisture content of 78~80% (wt) which decreased up to 1~3%(wt) resulted in breaking of cell wall after operating the continuous conveyer thermal dryer and pyrolysis. Important parameters which were operating times, moisture contents, loading rates, conveyer velocities and rotary velocities effects on the thermal kinetics and dynamics were investigated to evaluate the optimum conditions for the continual thermal dryer and pyrolysis.
Common reed (Phragmites australis) is widespread in reclaimed land and wetland habitats. Every year, the common reed produces extensive colonies by means of underground rhizomes and ground-surface stolons. From an agricultural point of view, the common reed's large biomass is a good material for supplying organic matter. However, it has not yet been studied in terms of seedling production, transplanting conditions, and decomposition characteristics in reclaimed land. Seeds were harvested from the native common reed in Saemangeum, South Korea, the previous year and stored on an open field. The seeds were sowed in the greenhouse at the beginning of April. Common reed decomposition was studied from June to September, with the use of coarse mesh (5 mm) stem litterbags, on three samping dates and with five replicate packs per sample. These packs were dug in five soil condition (low-salinity topsoil, subsoil, high-salinity topsoil, subsoil, paddy topsoil) to 0.2 m and 0.4 m depth. The highest germination rate of common reed seeds was observed in non-salt solution, but the exhibited germination rate was 70% at 9.38 dS m-1. The plant height of young reed decreased steadily with increasing salinity, but leaf number did not decrease by 9.38 dS m-1. The survival rate of the two-year-old reed was 83.3%, which was 35% higher than that of the one-year reed. The transplant success rate was 0% in the no vinyl mulching in the soil, but the first year and second year seedlings survived rates were 63% and 83.3%, respectively, in vinyl mulching. Common reed decomposition rates were faster low salinity than high salinity. All nutrient contents were found to fluctuate significantly with time by soil conditions. We also need to study the growth rate of reed transplanting seedlings by soil moisture contents and the comparison of degradation in common reed tissues.
In this study, we selected an Escherichia coli strain (E. coli MG 1655) metabolizing arabinose derived from acid hydrolyzed black liquor as a carbon source and investigated effect of organic acids (acetic acid, formic acid, and lactic acid) presented in black liquor on growth of the E. coli MG 1655. We measured growth of E. coli MG 1655 under various concentration of each and combined three kinds of organic acids. The E. coli MG 1655 shows tolerance to acetic acid, lactic acid and formic acid at these concentrations ($1.0g/{\ell}$ acetic acid, $1.2g/{\ell}$ lactic acid and $0.8g/{\ell}$ formic acid, respectively), but displays some growth retardation over $1.5g/{\ell}$ acetic acid, lactic acid $2.0g/{\ell}$, and formic acid $1.2g/{\ell}$, respectively. In addition, formic acid was shown to be a critical factor affecting growth of the E. coli MG 1655 in the presence of three kinds of organic acids. These results indicate that the inhibitors should be removed at least $1.0g/{\ell}$ of acetic acid, $1.2g/{\ell}$ of lactic acid, $0.8g/{\ell}$ of formic acid for normal cell growth required for high yield fermentation. In addition, there is a need to construct recombinant strains that may be resistant to the same or higher organic acids concentration (> $1.2g/{\ell}$) in the growth.
PURPOSES : Recently, bonded concrete overlay has been used as an alternative solution in concrete pavement rehabilitation since its material properties are similar to those of the existing concrete pavements. Deteriorated concrete pavements need rapid rehabilitation in order to prevent traffic jams on Korean expressways. Moreover, speedy and effective repair methods are required. Therefore, the use of bonded concrete overlay with ultra-rapid hardening cement has increased in an effort to reopen promptly the expressways in Korea. However, mobile mixer is required for ultra-rapid hardening cement concrete mixing in the construction site. The use of mobile mixer causes various disadvantages aforementioned such as limitation of the construction supply, open-air storage of mixing materials, increase in construction cost, and etc. In this study, therefore, hydration accelerator in-situ mixing on polymer modified concrete produced in concrete plant is attempted in order to avoid the disadvantages of existing bonded concrete overlay method using ultra-rapid hardening cement. METHODS : Bonded concrete overlay materials using ultra-rapid hardening cement should be meet all the requirements including structural characteristics, compatibility, durability for field application. Therefore, This study aimed to evaluate the application of hydration accelerator in-situ mixing on polymer modified concrete by evaluating structural characteristics, compatibility, durability and economic efficiency for bonded concrete overlay. RESULTS : Test results of structural characteristics showed that the compressive, flexural strength and bond strength were exceed 21MPa, 3.15MPa and 1.4MPa, respectively, which are the target strengths of four hours age for the purpose of prompt traffic reopening. In addition, tests of compatibility, such as drying shrinkage, coefficient of thermal expansion and modulus of elasticity, and durability (chloride ions penetration resistance, freezing-thawing resistance, scaling resistance, abrasion resistance and crack resistance), showed that the hydration accelerator in-situ mixing on polymer modified concrete were satisfied the required criteria. CONCLUSIONS : It was known that the hydration accelerator in-situ mixing on polymer modified concrete overlay method was applicable for bonded concrete overlay and was a good alternative method to substitute the existing bonded concrete overlay method since structural characteristics, compatibility, durability were satisfied the criteria and its economic efficiency was excellent compare to the existing bonded concrete overlay methods.

Ultrasonic inspection methods are widely used for detecting flaws in materials. The signal analysis step plays a crucial part in the data interpretation process. A number of signal processing methods have been proposed to classify ultrasonic flaw signals. One of the more popular methods involves the extraction of an appropriate set of features followed by the use of a neural network for the classification of the signals in the feature spare. This paper describes an alternative approach which uses the least mean square (LMS) method and exportation maximization (EM) algorithm with the model based deconvolution which is employed for classifying nondestructive evaluation (NDE) signals from steam generator tubes in a nuclear power plant. The signals due to cracks and deposits are not significantly different. These signals must be discriminated to prevent from happening a huge disaster such as contamination of water or explosion. A model based deconvolution has been described to facilitate comparison of classification results. The method uses the space alternating generalized expectation maximiBation (SAGE) algorithm ill conjunction with the Newton-Raphson method which uses the Hessian parameter resulting in fast convergence to estimate the time of flight and the distance between the tube wall and the ultrasonic sensor. Results using these schemes for the classification of ultrasonic signals from cracks and deposits within steam generator tubes are presented and showed a reasonable performances.
This study was carried out to obtain the basic data for artificial culture of Grifola umbellata. The optimal condition for the mycelial growth was obtained at $20^{\circ}C$ and pH 4, respectively. G. umbellata showed the most favorable growth on the Hoppkins media. Carbon sources such as glucose, fluctose and manitol were favorable for stimulating a mycelial growth of G. umbellata. Valine, one of nitrogen sources also appeared to be favorable to a mycelial growth. The optimum C/N ratio was about 30:1 in case that 1% glucose as carbon source was mixed with the basal media. Lactic acid as organic acid was most favorable to the mycelial growth. Also, thiamine-Hcl as vitamin source was favorable. The mineral nutrient of $FeSO_4$ or $MgSO_4$ was most favorable to G. umbellata, and its optimal concentration was about 0.01% in $FeSO_4$ and 0.1 % in $MgSO_4$ respectively. Among 4 different cereal extract media, polished rice extract medium which was mixed with silkworm pupae was most suitable for a favorable growth of G. umbellata.
