  • Content distribution to a large number of concurrent clients stresses both server and network. While the server limitation can be circumvented by deploying server clusters, the network limitation is far less easy to cope with, due to the difficulty in measuring and balancing network load. In this paper, we use two useful network load metrics, the worst link stress (WLS) and the degree of interference (DOI), and formulate the problem as partitioning the clients into disjoint subsets subject to the server capacity constraint so that the WLS and the DOI are reduced for each session and also well balanced across the sessions. We present a network load-aware partition algorithm, which is practicable and effective in achieving the design goals. Through experiments on PlanetLab, we show that the proposed scheme has the remarkable advantages over existing schemes in reducing and balancing the network load. We expect the algorithm and performance metrics can be easily applied to various Internet applications, such as media streaming, multicast group member selection.

  • Hundreds of millions of new posts and information are being uploaded and propagated everyday on Online Social Networks(OSN) like Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. This paper proposes and implements a GPS-location based SNS data mapping, analysis, and visualization system, called Smart SNS Map, which collects SNS data from Twitter and Instagram using hundreds of PlanetLab nodes distributed across the globe. Like no other previous systems, our system uniquely supports a variety of functions, including GPS-location based mapping of collected tweets and Instagram photos, keyword-based tweet or photo searching, real-time heat-map visualization of tweets and instagram photos, sentiment analysis, word cloud visualization, etc. Overall, a system like this, admittedly still in a prototype phase though, is expected to serve a role as a sort of social weather station sooner or later, which will help people understand what are happening around the SNS users, systems, society, and how they feel about them, as well as how they change over time and/or space.

  • Objective: This paper discussed the characteristics of service design process by comparing with product design process. Background: Service design has different design outcomes, project participants, and design constraints than product design. Method: The comparison took two perspectives: one was shorter-term, design process of a service, and the other was longer-term, process of service development. Results: It was discussed that service design process is similar in overall, but has four differences. First, the role of design is required earlier and longer in the process, which means service designers need to participate from the begging of the project to service operation. Thus service designers are required to have holistic viewpoint of the project. Second, service design requires many design expertise thus collaboration needs to be well defined and managed throughout the process. Third, since service provider has limited resources, regulations, and market competition, some service features cannot be provided. Service designers are required to know both customers' needs and functional constraints. Last, service design is highly coupled with service operation. Designing and providing service happens at the same time and evolves over time. Conclusion: Consequently it was asserted that the role of designers in service design is essential for success. In specific, the role of service design architect, who manages design process and design outcomes, is a new and important role in service design project.

  • The demand for the development of atmospheric entry vehicles, dealing with reentry and solar-system planet exploration, is increasing. Generally, atmospheric drag and heating accompany the entry into atmospheric air. Accordingly, the selection of the thermal protection materials and the design and application of the thermal protection system are very important. In this paper, the atmospheric entry environment and the type and characteristics of the thermal protection materials are discussed. The design and application status of a thermal protection system for spaceplanes are described.

  • An NIR grism Si optical area sensor spectrometer with in-band reference wavelength is designed and fabricated. It is composed of a transmission type diffraction grating (spatial density 300 line/mm), a rectangular N-BK7 prism (apex angle 30 degree), NIR filter(cutoff wavelength 720 nm), an imaging convex lens(focal length 50 mm F1.8) and an IR modified DSLR camera (Canon EOS40D) of Si optical area sensor ($3,888{\times}2,592$ pixels, pixel size $5.710{\mu}m$). "In-band reference wavelength function" is implemented using non-dispersive 0th diffraction order optical beam. The NIR grism spectrometer is tested in a laboratory using a halogen lamp and a Neon lamp. And the spectrometer is used in an astronomy field for obtaining the planet Jupiter NIR spectrum. In-band reference wavelength i.e. un-deviation wavelength is 846 nm, an wavelength resolution is 0.3027 nm/pixel, an wavelength resolving power is 2,794 and an wavelength range is 650~1,000 nm.

  • As unemployment rates and concerns about turnover keep growing, the need for information is also increasing. In these situations, the job reviews which share information about the company catch people's attention because they are usually created by people who worked at the company. The development of SNS and mobile environments has led to an increase in the web services that provide job reviews. For example, Jobplanet is a job review service in Korea, and Glassdoor.com offers a similar service in the US. Despite this attention, however, research utilizing job reviews is insufficient. This paper asks whether there are differences in ratios of job satisfaction factors by industry, using LDA topic modeling and co-occurrence analysis to explore the differences. Through the results of LDA, we find that the ratios of job satisfaction factors are similar by industry. At the same time, the results of co-occurrence analysis show that the co-occurrence frequency of some job satisfaction factors appears high: pay and welfare, balance of work and life, company culture. We expect that the result of this research will be helpful in comparative analysis of job satisfaction factors by industry. Furthermore, in this paper we suggest how to use the job review data in organizational behavior research.

  • Long term observational analysis by climatologists has confirmedthat the global warming is no longer a topic of debate among scientists andpolicy makers. According to the report of IPCC-2001 (Intergovernmental Panelon Climate Change), the global mean surface air temperature is increasinggradually. The reported increase of mean temperature is by 0.6 degree in the end of twentieth century. This could represent severe threat for propertylosses especially due to increase in the number of extreme weather arising out of global warming. period of model integration from 2001 to 2100 using output of ECHAM4/HOPE-G of Max Planet Institute of Meteorology (MPI) for IPCC SRES (Special Report on Emission Scenarios). The main results of this study indicate increase of surface air temperature by 6.20C and precipitation by 2.6% over Korea in the end of 21st century. Simulation results also show that there is increase in daily maximum and minimum temperatures while decrease in diurnal temperature range (DTR). DTR changes are diminished mainly due to relatively rapid increase of daily minimum temperature than that of daily maximumtemperature. It has been observed that increase in precipitation amount anddecrease in the number of rainy days lead to increase of pre precipitationintensity.

  • We have constructed a non-spherical model for the hot oxygen corona of Mars by including the effects of planetary rotation and diurnal variation of the Martian ionosphere. Exospheric oxygen densities are calculated by integrating ensemble of ballistic and escaping oxygen atoms from the exobase over the entire planet. The hot oxygen atoms are produced by dissociative recombination of $O^+_2$, the major ion in the Martian ionosphere. The densities of hot oxygen atoms at the exobase are estimated from electron densities which have been measured to vary with solar zenith angle. Our model shows that the density difference of hot oxygen atoms between noon and terminator is about two orders of magnitude near the exobase, but reduces abruptly around altitudes of 2000 km due to lateral transport. The diurnal variation of hot oxygen densities remains significant up to the altitude of 10000 km. The diurnal variation of the hot oxygen corona should thus be considered when the upcoming Nozomi measurements are analyzed. The non-spherical model of the hot oxy-gen corona may contribute to building sophisticate solar wind interaction models and thus result in more accurate escaping rate of oxygens from Mars.

  • The pitch reducer consists of several planetary gearsets, and they should have good load distribution over gear tooth flank and load sharing among the planets to improve the durability. This work investigates how bearing internal clearances influence both the load distribution over the gear tooth flank and the planet load sharing. A whole system model is developed to analyze a pitch reducer. The model includes non-linear mesh stiffness of gears, non-linear stiffness of bearings. The results indicate that the face load factor and mesh load factor decrease, and the fatigue life of output shaft bearings increase as bearing internal clearances of output shaft decrease. Therefore, the internal clearance of output shaft bearing must be considered when designing the pitch reducer for wind turbines.

  • Using a high fewer electron beam gun (max. power 20 kW), Gadolinium (Gd, atomic number 64) metal was melted and the temperature distribution of melted surface was measured. With proper optical filters and the adjustment of aperture of lens, the radiation of melted surface was received by a ccd camera and its signal transferred to a computer. The real time monitoring of melted surface with a variation of electron beam Power was Possible and stable operation of electron beam was achieved. It was found that the max. temperature measured by a ccd camera with an assumption of blackbody radiation of melted Gd surface and adaption of Planet's law was above 100~$200^{\circ}C$ compared to that measured by a pyrometer in the same e-beam power.
