소구경 분기배관 용접부의 피로강도에 미치는 용접부 형상 및 용접공정의 영향 (Influence of Welding Shapes and Welding Procedures on Fatigue Strength of Small Diameter Branch Welded Pipe Joint)

  • S-N fatigue tests were conducted to investigate the fatigue strength of small diameter socket and butt welded joints made of carbon steels. Experimental parameters were pipe diameter, throat depth, shape of socket welds and welding procedure. Filler metals used in SMAW and GTAW procedure were E9016-G with diameter of 4.0 mm and ER70S-G with diameter of 2.4 mm. API 5L Gr.B pipes were adopted as a small diameter branch pipes. All socket fittings were machined from ASTM A105 carbon steel. Tensile strength was not affected by the welding procedure. Fatigue strength in socket weld joints increased with increasing pipe diameter, area of weld metal and weld leg length of pipe side.

  • 본 논문의 목적은 현재 도기가스, 상하수도 및 화학배관 파이프 등의 플라스틱 배관 공사에서 사용되는 파이프 융착기를 3차원 설계하고 융착 시 발생하는 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 구조해석에 의한 검증작업을 거쳐 구조를 개선한다. 현장에서 파이프 융착 작업 시 융착기 크램프에 크랙이 발생하므로 이를 개선하기 위하여 융착기의 구조를 변경하는 설계치를 제시함으로서 작업의 효율성을 높이고 기술경쟁력을 향상시킨다.

후육 용접 강관의 HIC 저항성 평가 (Evaluation of HIC Resistance for Thick-wall Welded Pipe)

  • It is required for the steel materials used in the sour environment to have sufficient resistance to hydrogen induced cracking(HIC). For line pipe steels, HIC resistance could be varied during pipe making process due to the large plastic deformation applied in the thick-wall pipe. In order to figure out such effect, HIC tests were performed not only in the plate condition but in the pipe condition and their results were compared in terms of cracking ratio. Test results demonstrated a detrimental effect of plastic deformation to HIC resulting in a substantial increase in the cracking ratio after pipe forming process. All of the cracks found in the pipe material were located in the outer layer of pipe where the tensile strain was resulted during pipe forming stage. In order to understand the HIC resistance of the pipe but in the plate condition, it was suggested to pre-strain the plate to some extent before the HIC test.

동축 파이프 이음부의 레이저용접 공정변수에 관한 연구 (Study on the Process Parameters for Laser Welding of Coaxial Circular Pipe Inner Flange)

  • The laser welding was performed for the flange joint of two overlapped coaxial circular pipes which serve as the inlet and connector pipes of STS 316L. The laser welding test finally resulted in a good penetration depth of 1.8 to 2.0 mm. On the way to get the good welding quality, two important parameters were found to be optimized. One is the focal positioning which is the offset of the laser beam focus to the exact welding seam line, which is more critical in the inner flange laser welding. When the beam spot size was deviated more than $200\;{\mu}m$ from the seam line, welding of two pipes is failed. The other is a gap size since a certain amount of gap is inevitable due to fabrication tolerance, or artificial allowances for smooth insertion of a pipe. However, it is required to restrict the gap allowance within 0.2mm to avoid undesirable undercut on a welding bead.

용접관(熔接管)의 용접중(熔接中) 온도분포(溫度分布) (On the Arc Welding Temperature in a Metal Tube)

  • In a recent year, welding is known as a most powerful process in production of pipe. For the conventional purpose, pipe is welded in axial direction to minimize the welding cost. And for the high pressure pipe, welding is done in helical direction to increase a allowable hoop stress. An analytical welding temperature distributions in a metal tube are obtained as a two dimensional case in quasi-stationary state. Numerical values which have been obtained by the analytical investigation shows a good agreement with the isocromatic lines which have been appeared at oxidized zone along the welds. Therefore it is thought that the analytical result can be used in estimating the heat effect upon the material such as a residual stress and strain, metallurgical change and etc..

  • Leakage trouble on the sea water pipeline in engine room is often resulted from a localized corrosion due to severe corrosive environment caused by both high speed and high pressure of sea water flowing through the inner pipe. In addition, when the ship is in stand-by or emergency condition, underwater welding to control the leakage of sea water from a hole of its pipe is very important in an industrial safety point of view. In this study possibility of underwater welding to control leakage of sea water and corrosion property of its welding zone were investigated with the electrochemical methods by parameters of welding methods and welding electrodes when underwater welding is achieved with a such case that sea water is being leaked out with a height at 50mm from a hole of $2.5mm{\emptyset}$ of test pipe. Corrosion resistance of weld metal zone is better than the base metal and its hardness is higher than that of the base metal. However corrosion potential of weld metal zone showed a negative value than that of the base metal, therefore weld metal zone is preferentially corroded rather than the base metal by performance of galvanic cell due to difference of corrosion potential between weld metal zone and base metal. Eventually it is suggested that leakage of sea water is successfully controlled by underwater welding,

설비배관에서 용접봉에 따른 환경오염 (Environments Pollution Caused by Welding Rod in the Process of Pipe Working)

  • Welding technology is applicable in many kinds of fields, with the help of its advantages such as easy operational procedure and structural simplification. However, in the process of welding, hazardous materials and fumes cause huge fire broke-outs, explosions, and health-conscious problems. Also, as heavy metals in fumes have a harmful effect on the environment, recently, this has emerged as a urgent social issue. This study has been aimed at the recommendation of the most environment-friendly, among materials currently used in plumbing welding, and it has been done at the result of the analysis of amount, ingredient, and size in collected fumes created in the experiment of welding five rods to galvanized steel pipes and steel pipe ones. At the test result, due to the effect of Zn-coating, galvanized steel pipes, when welded to rods, created more fumes than steel pipe ones. In the mean time, when it comes to welding rods, among five, WR-03 produced fumes the least. Therefore, a combination of the test results clearly indicates that the case of welding WR-03 to cast-iron pipes turned out to be the most environment-friendly.

MIVB 용접용 개폐형 자속발생기에 의한 자원밀도분포의 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis of Magnetic Flux Density Distribution by an Openable Magnetic Flux Generator for MIAB Welding)

  • MlAB(magnetically impelled arc butt) welding is a sort of pressure welding method by melting two pipe sections with high speed rotating arc and upsetting two pipes in the axial direction. The electro-magnetic force, the driving force of the arc rotation, is generated by interaction of arc current and magnetic field induced from the magnetic flux generator in the welding system. In this study, an openable coil system for the generation of magnetic flux and a 3-dimensional numerical model for analyzing the electro-magnetic field were proposed. Through the fundamental numerical analyses, a magnetic concentrator was adopted for smoothing the magnetic flux density distribution in the circumferential direction. And then a series of numerical analysis were performed for investigating the effect of system parameters on the magnetic flux density distribution in the interested welding area.. Numerical quantitative analyses showed that magnetic flux density distribution generated from the proposed coil system is mainly dependent on the exciting current in the coil and the position of coil or concentrator from the pipe outer surface. And the gap between pipe ends and arc current are also considered as important factors on arc rotating behavior.

Study on the Welding Parameters of Steel Pipes for Higher Sulfide Stress Corrosion Cracking Resistance for Field Application

  • The Sulfide Stress Corrosion Cracking (SSCC) resistance of structural steels is one of the critical concerns for the operators, material designers, and fabricators of oil-field equipment, especially treating sour gas (H2S) containing fluids. As far as its fabricators concerned, the systematic care of welding parameters should be taken to obtain comparable SSCC resistance of their weldment to that of its base material. In this respect, every different type of welding joint design for this use should be verified to be SSCC-proof with relevant test procedures. In this study, the welding parameters to secure a proper SSCC resistance of steel pipe's weldments were reviewed on the Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQR), which had been employed for actual fabrication of an offshore structure for oil and gas production. Based on this review, a guideline of welding parameters, such as, heat input, welding consumable for Y.S. 65 ksi class steel pipe material is proposed in terms of the NACE criteria for SSCC resistance.
