  • Sustainable industrial development which can minimize an ecological effect by the mankind exertion is recently interested due to an environmental contamination and a resource exhaustion problem. An eco-industrial park (EIP) is a community of manufacturing and service businesses seeking enhanced environmental and economic performance through collaboration in managing environmental and resource issues, including energy, water, and materials. EIP developments which improve a production plant within an eco-friendly greenfield and design a new industrial ecosystem are accomplished recently, which can efficiently re-use the waste and resources from each company within EIP. In this review, the outside and domestic case studies of EIP and cornerstone technologies to develop the EIP, such as energy integration, waste reuse, mass flow analysis, water pinch, and life cycle assessment, are summarized.

An Experimental Study on the Formation of Reversed Field Configuration (역전적세배위의 형성에 관한 실채연)

  • A Reversed Field Pinch(RFP) Plasma automatically forms the reversed field configuration in a stable state by the self-reversal phenomenon. But this process of formation of the reversed field configuration has a problem that instabilities occur. In order to form a RFP configuration in a stable state by removing instabilities, this experimental study attempts to restrain Toroidal magnetic fields and supplement Toroidal flux by employing high frequency rotating fields. As a result, the reversed magnetic field configuration is stably formed in a short period because high frequency rotating fields can deflect poloidal currents and produce magnetic fields in the Toroidal direction.

  • The manufactured pulsed power system with 500kA current is described in this paper. The capacitor bank, control cabinent, dec charging unit, closing switch and dumping box, cable system etc. employed with the system components are described. Especially the development of the inverse pinch switch controlled by gas puffing enabled the generation of the very high voltage and current.

  • Considering channel length modulation, we proposed a GaAs MESFET model for circuit simulator. In existing M.S. Shur's model, two different models are used according to pinch-off voltage of devices. One model for both type of devices was proposed. In this model we introduced weighted switching function(WSF) based on channel length modulation. This proposed model showed better accuracy comparing with existing single law model and complete velocity saturation model.

  • In this study a s/w system(HENSPIN) for the automatic synthesis of HEN(heat exchanger network) was developed based on Pinch Design Method. The synthesized HEN by HENSPIN are satisfying performance targets such as minimum utility usage with as few as possible capital items. The invented network is near optimal in capital and operating cost. It will be used as initial structure for evolution to the structure which has optimal operability.

  • 현재 전세계적으로 수자원 고갈에 대한 우려와 산업용수에 의한 환경오염문제로 인체 용수 다소비 산업에 대한 환경규제가더욱 심해지고 있다. 현재 정부는 2004년까지 단계적으로 용수사용에 대한 규제를 강화하려는 움직임을보이고 있다. 또한 폐수방류량을 보다엄격하게 제약할 것으로 보인다. 이러한 흐름으로 인해 수자원 이용에 수많은 제약이 따르게 되고 보다 강력해지는 환경 규제치를 충족시키기 위한 폐수처리비용이 더욱 크게 늘어나게 되면서 공정의 폐쇄화 및 청정기술들에 대한 산업체의 관심이 보다 증대되고있다.

  • 제조공정의 근간을 이루는 가열, 용해, 성형, 냉각등의 단위조직은 일반적으로 에너지이용면에서 매우 비효율적이므로 이들을 체계적으로 연결하면 어느 공정의 방출에너지를 다른 공정에 이용할 수 있다. 이 때 핀치기술(Pinch Technology)을 응용하면 기존 공장에 대해서는 에너지 및 비용절감의 가능성을, 신축공장에 대해서는 효율적인 에너지 사용을 위한 설계지침을 제공해 준다. 본 원고에서는 중소규모의 여러가지 산업공정에서의 핀치 기술의 적용실례를 밝혀준다.
