  • This study investigates how the spatial recognition structure is emerging through the case of rectangular plan combined with a combination of Dang-Sil(堂室) and Gong(工) shape roof, and identifies a type of architecture in the early Joseon Dynasty that has never been revealed. The conclusion of this study is as follows. First, the Dang and the Sil are connected to each other, but the architectural elements such as pillars, frame, and windows are distinguished and appear as separate buildings. Second, the distinction between Dang and Sil is evident by the difference in the number of ridges and the shape of the roof. In addition, the roof and roof framework of the independent rooms and the rooms were common in the right angled architecture where the direction and the expandability of each structure were maintained. Third, the construction of the Dang-Sil combined structure, in which two or more structure frameworks were combined with the rectangular combined flat roof structure, gradually changed into a single structure with a single ridge. Fourth, this change means that people of the early Joseon Dynasty recognized the Dang and Sil as separate architecture, but the strict sense of spatial separation has disappeared over time.

  • Fundamental processes in digital forensic investigation - such as disk imaging - were developed when digital investigation was relatively young. As digital forensic processes and procedures matured, these fundamental tools, that are the pillars of the reset of the data processing and analysis phases of an investigation, largely stayed the same. This work is a study of modern digital forensic imaging software tools. Specifically, we will examine the feature sets of modern digital forensic imaging tools, as well as their development and release cycles to understand patterns of fundamental tool development. Based on this survey, we show the weakness in current digital investigation fundamental software development and maintenance over time. We also provide recommendations on how to improve fundamental tools.

  • A lot of relics were unearthed in the Shinchang-dong wetland site, which can help restore prehistoric life style, including construction tools such as wood doors, wood hammers, ax handgrips, sickle handgrips, wedges, awls, wood pillars and connection members, food vessels made of earth or wood and fish, shell fish, seeds and remains of weapons. In particular, a door was found in the site, which was measured at 110cm long and 37cm wide. If restored it will be 75cm wide. The door seems to date back as far as the 1st century B. C., which would be the oldest one ever discovered in Korea. This paper is intended to explore the implications of the door by investigating the environment of the Shinchang-dong wetland site bearing the relics intact, manufacturing techniques and times of manufacturing of the door as well as attributes of doors presented in the literature related to old time architecture such as Goguryeo tomb paintings and house-shaped vessels. It also intends to provide basic data for study of residential architecture in prehistoric times.

  • This study is to find out the design concept of asymmetrical building with 4 purlins mainly in Sungkyunkwan(Confucian Shrines), Changgyeonggung palace and Changdeokgung palace The results are as follows: First, asymmetrical building with 4 purlins has the same height pillars, which was useful to control the side lenght and put a higher pillar without limit. Second, the side length of the asymmetrical building with 4 purlins is between 12 to 14 Ja[尺]. It's relatively longer than the minimum length(12 Ja) of 5 purlins architecture seen in later Joseon dynasty. Third, asymmetrical building with 4 purlins was not an anomalous structure when compared to 3 purlins and 5 purlins. It was actually a traditional style, unlike the current architectural recognition nowadays, which mainly focused on the balanced roof structure. These examples show that the architectures in Early Joseon dynasty were planned and constructed first according to the plane division that fit in a specific use or space.

  • There is a shround of mystery surronnding Gaudi. In all probability, the first mist preventing us from gaining acess to his work is the intrinstic mysteriousness of all genius and, at the end of the day, of all human spirit. The situation is complicated by the well-known fact that Gaudi wished to creat an aura of silence around his persona, while, at the same time as maintaining this secretiveneness - in other words, the annihiliation of his fundamental values-gave expression and symbolisation to his moods and incerdible mental power. On a piece of land on the Muntanya Pelada, in the Barcelona district of La Salut, Eusebi G$\ddot{u}$ell Wanted to build an urbanisation inspired by the concepe of the garden city. in this he sought to return to nature, health and an escape from the insalubrous industrial city. Gaudi worked on the construction of this park between 1900 and 1914, and even moved his home there in 1906. An outstanding feature of park G$\ddot{u}$ell is the integration of architecture with nature. In other to save the natural slopes, Gaudi built viaducts from brick pillars, which he covered with stone obtained from the excavation.

  • In this paper, we look into a Jong Nang Channel which is the origin of digital communications and has been used in Jeju Island since AD 1234. It is one kind of communication ways which informs people of whether a house owner is in one's house or not using its own protocol. It is comprised of three timber and two stone pillars whose one side has three holes respectively. In this paper, we analyze the Jong-Nang Channel both in the light of logic and bit error probability. In addition, we compare it with a conventional binary erasure channel when some errors occur over them respectively. We also show that a capacity of NOR channel approaches Shannon limit.

  • In this paper, an indoor propagation model based on 3d ray tracing is presented for wireless communications. In case of indoor propagation models, various radio propagation paths such as wall-transmitted wave and scattered wave from ceilings, pillars, and furnitures arises and 3-D formulation is needed. To accommodate such scatterers, objects are modeled by triangulated surfaces and ray tubes using those surfaces are introduced and efficient calculation methods using the tubes are presented.

  • In building a finite element model of as automotive structure, the pillars and rockers are generally modeled as beam elemnts. The finite elemtns modeling using beam is faster and more efficient than that using shell elemetns. A joint is defined as theintersectio region of beam elemts and generally modeled with coupled rotational springs. In this study, hoint modeling technique is presented. First, the definitions of and anlaysis hypothesis for the joint are defined. Second the evaluation method of the joint stiffness from the static test is proposed. This method is simpler than existing evaluaiton methods. Third, the sensitivity analysis method and updating algorithm forjoint stiffness are presented. To verify these melthods, the finite element results of structural models with rigid joints and rotational spring joints are compared with experimental results.

  • Typically, the ultrasonic sensors can be used in navigation systems for modeling of the enviornment, obstacle avoidance, and map building. In this paper, we tried to approach an object classification method using the range data of the ultrasonic sensors. A characterization of the sonar scan is described that allows the differentiation of planes, corners, edges, cylindrical and rectangular pillars by processing the scanned data from three sonars. To use the data from the ultrasonic sensors as input to the neural networks, we have introduced a clustering, threshold, and bit operation algorithm for the obtained raw data, After repeated training of the neural network, the performance of the proposed method was obtained through experiments. Also, the recognition ranges of the proposed method were investigated. As a result of experiments, we found that the proposed method successfully recognized the objects within the accuracy of 78%.

  • The paper deals with three main topics: a) the definition of System Thermal-Hydraulics (SYS TH), b) a historical outline for SYS TH and, c) the description of elements for reflection when planning research projects or improvement activities, this last topic being the main reason for the paper. Distinctions between basic thermal-hydraulics and computational Fluid-Dynamics (CFD) on the one side and SYS TH on the other side are considered under the first topic; stakeholders in the technology are identified. The proposal of Interim Acceptance Criteria for Emergency Core Cooling Systems in 1971 by US NRC (AEC at the time) is recognized as the starting date or the triggering event for SYS TH (second topic). The complex codes and the main experimental programs (list provided in the paper) constitute the pillars for SYS TH. Caution or warning statements are introduced in advance when discussing the third topic: a single person (or a researcher) has little to no possibility, or capability, of streamlining the forthcoming investments or to propose a roadmap for future activities. Nevertheless, the ambitious attempt to foresee developments in this area has been pursued without constraints connected with the availability of funds and with industrial benefits or interests. Demonstrating the acceptability of current SYS TH limitations and training in the application of those codes are mentioned as the main challenges for forthcoming research activities.
