  • Langasite($La_3Ga_5SiO_14$)는 acoustic 특성에서 quartz, $LiTaO_3$$LiNbO_3$에 비교되는 새로운 압전재료이다. 본 연구에서는 새로운 Langasite 계열의 물질을 공기 중에서 고상반응법에 의해 합성하였고, 합성공정에서의 주요 확산종 을 조사하였다. 이때 합성된 물질의 소결체를 제조하여 각각의 유전적 성질을 비교평가하였다. 또한, Langasite 단결정 을 자체제작한 Czochralski 시스댐을 사용하여 성장시키는데 성공하였고, 성장된 결정의 물성을 평가하였다

  • Miniature guided-bullet is an advanced military technology of developing guided missile which is designed to hit a target precisely while having easily carriable miniature size. A key issue of developing such system involves size reduction of the original guided missile system, and this in turn arouses stiffness issue regarding small and thin sized control surface. In this study, procedures on how to calculate the critical flutter speed of special type of control surface with the change of its dimension or material property is arranged. During this procedure, design parameters related to critical flutter speed are abridged to help preliminary design of similar structure even faster than time-consuming, and cumbersome computer analysis.

  • A new type of piezoelectric micromachined ultrasonic transducer (pMUT) with high resonant frequency was developed by using a thin lead zirconate titanate (PZT) as an insulation layer on a floating $10{\mu}m$ silicon membrane. The PZT insulation layer facilitated acoustic impedance matching at active pMUT, leading to a high performance in the acoustic conversion property compared with the transducer using $SiO_2$ insulation layer. The fabricated ultrasonic devices were wirelessly measured by connecting two identical acoustic transducers to two separate ports in a single network analyzer simultaneously. The acoustic wave emitted from a transducer induced a $3.16{\mu}W$ on the other side of the transducer at a distance of 2 cm. The transducer performances in terms of device diameters, PZT thickness, annealings, and different DC polings, etc. were investigated. COMSOL simulation was also performed to predict the device performances prior to fabrication. Based on the COMSOL simulation, the device was fabricated and the results were compared.

Effective Properties of Multi-layered Multi-functional Composites

  • A matrix method for evaluating effective electro-magneto-thermo-elastic properties of a generally anisotropic multilayered composite is presented. Physical variables are categorized into two groups: one that satisfies the continuity across the interface between layers and another that satisfies an average inter-layer compatibility (which is also exact). The coupled electro-magneto-thermo-elastic constitutive equation is accordingly reassembled into submatrices, which leads to the derivation of concise and exact matrix expressions for effective properties of a multilayered composite having the coupled physical effects. Comparing the results for a purely elastic multiplayer with those from other theoretical approaches validates the developed method. Examples are given for a PZT-graphite/epoxy composite and a $BaTiO_3-CoFe_2O_4$ multiplayer which exhibit piezo-thermoelastic and magnetoelectric properties, respectively. The result shows how a strong magnetoelectric effect can be achieved by combining piezoelectric and piezomagnetic materials in a multilayered structure. The magnetoelectric coefficient of the $BaTiO_3-CoFe_2O_4$ multiplayer is compared with those for fibrous and particulate composites fabricated with the same constituents.

MnO$_2$가 첨가된 하이드로폰용 PbTiO$_3$계 세라믹스의 구조적 전기적 특성 (Structural and Electrical properties of MnO$_2$ added PbTiO$_3$system ceramics for Hydrophone)

  • In this study, to improve sintering condition, anisotropic Property(k$\_$t//k$\_$p/) of electromechanical coupling coefficients, and hydrostatic piezoelerlric constants d$\_$h/ and g$\_$h/, MnO$_2$impurity was added to the (Pb$\_$0.76/Ca$\_$0.24)[(Co$\_$$\frac{1}{2}$W$\_$$\frac{1}{2}$/)$\_$0.04/Ti$\_$0.96/]O$_3$ System ceramics for hydrophone. And the structural, electrical properties of them were investigated. As a results. tetragonality was decreased with MnO$_2$ additives and density was the highest value of 7.06(g/㎤) at H2-3 specimen. Electromechanical coupling coefficients of H2-3 specimen were k$\_$t/=49 and k$\_$p/ 0, which exibited the hightest hydrostatic piezoelectric constants of d$\_$h/=64.52[10$\^$-1/C/N] and g$\_$h/=35.92[10$\^$-3/ Vm/N].

피에조 잉크젯 헤드에서 액적 토출 현상에 대한 연구 (A Study on Droplet Formation from Piezo Inkjet Print Head)

  • Droplets are ejected onto a substrate through a nozzle by pushing liquids in flow channels of drop-on-demand devices. The behavior of ejection and formation of droplets is investigated to enhance the physical understanding of the hydrodynamics involved in inkjet printing. The free surface phenomenon of a droplet is described using $CFD-ACE^{TM}$ which employs the volume-of-fluid (VOF) method with the piecewise linear interface construction (PLIC). Droplet formation characteristics are analyzed in various flow regimes with different Ohnesorge numbers. The computational results show that the droplet formations are strongly dependent on the physical properties of working fluids and the inlet flow conditions. In addition, the wetting characteristics of working fluids on a nozzle influence the volume and velocity of a droplet produced in the device. This study may provide an insight into how a liquid droplet is formed and ejected in a piezoelectric inkjet printing device.

Investigation of Generative Contactile Force of Frog Muscle under Electrical Stimulation

  • Recently, the microrobots powered by biological muscle actuators were proposed. Among the biological muscle actuators, frog muscle is well known as a good muscle actuator and has a large displacement, actuation forces and piezoelectric properties. Therefore, for the application of the biomimetic microrobot, this paper reports the electromechanical properties of frog muscle. First of all, the experimental setup has been established for measuring generative force of the frog muscle. Through the various electrical stimulating inputs to the frog muscle, we measured the contractile force of the frog muscle. From the measuring results, we found that the actuating contractile force responses of the frog muscle are determined by the amplitude, frequency, duty ratio, and wave form of the stimulation signal. This study will be beneficial for the development of the microrobot actuated by frog muscle.

Electrical and mechanical property of ZnO wire using catalyst-free chemical vapor deposition

  • In this paper, we synthesize ZnO wire on Si substrate by catalyst-free thermal chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Each ZnO wire is grew up at different condition such as temperature and O2 flow rate. The Young's modulus of individual ZnO wires were estimated using quasi-static and dynamic measurements, as well as resonance frequency measurements. Using this system, current-voltage characteristics of each ZnO wire structure fabricated on a trench were measured. A new concept of electromechanical device structure combined with the piezoelectric effect of ZnO will be suggested in the end of this paper.

부분수산법으로 제조한 PZT세라믹스의 특성에 미치는Nb2O5 첨가효과 (The Effect of Nb2O5 Addition on Properties of PZT Ceramics Prepared by Partial Oxalate Method)

  • Highly homogeneous PZT powder was prepared by a partial oxalate method using chemicals of (Z $r_{0.53}$ $Ti_{0.47}$) $O_2$, Pb(N $o_3$)$_2$and (COOH)$_2$ㆍ2$H_2O$. N $b_2$ $O_{5}$ addition effect on microstructure and electrical properties of PZT ceramics was investigated. When the precursors were calcined at 71$0^{\circ}C$, a single perovskite phase was obtained. After sintering at 110$0^{\circ}C$, X-ray diffraction Patterns showed coexistence of rhombohedral and tetragonal phases regardless of the N $b_2$ $O_{5}$ content. As the content of N $b_2$ $O_{5}$ increased, grain size decreased but sintered density increased. The electromechanical coupling factor of kp and the piezoelectric constant of $d_{31}$ increased linearly with the content of N $b_2$ $O_{5}$, and those values reached 0.7 and -200, respectively, when 1.2 mol% of N $b_2$ $O_{5}$ is added. is added.ded.

잉크젯 프린팅 공정을 통해 제작된 BaTiO3 Capacitor의 유전특성 분석 (Dielectric Property Analysis of BaTiO3 Capacitor Manufactured by Inkjet Printing Process)

  • BaTiO3 is one of the ferroelectric materials with excellent dielectric properties such as high dielectric constant, low dielectric loss, and is widely used for the manufacturing of capacitors, piezoelectric converters, microsensors, and ferroelectric memories. Inkjet printing is a technology which uses digital and contactless methods which significantly improves flexibility associated with material and structural design, reducing manufacturing costs. Therefore, the top and bottom electrodes, BaTiO3 ink, and photocurable resin were all printed by an inkjet to produce a BaTiO3 capacitor. The properties of the printed thin film were analyzed. It was confirmed that the photocurable resin ink was well-infiltrated between the BaTiO3 powder particles printed by inkjet. The dielectric properties of the capacitor such as dielectric constant which varies in accordance with frequency, polarization and tunability that changes with voltage, were measured.
