  • Theory of the generation linewidth of a current-driven spin-torque magnetic nano-oscillator in the presence of thermal fluctuations has been developed and a simple analytical formula for the generation linewidth in the supercritical regime of generation has been derived. It is shown that the strong dependence of the oscillator frequency on the precession power leads to substantial broadening of the generation linewidth of a spin-torque oscillator compared to the case of a linear oscillator, i.e. an oscillator with power-independent generation frequency. The relation between the nonlinearity-induced broadening of the generation linewidth and the nonlinearity-induced increase of the phase-locking band of a spin-torque oscillator to an external microwave signal has been revealed. The derived expression for the generation linewidth predicts a linewidth minimum when the nano-contact is magnetized at a certain angle to its plane, at which the nonlinear frequency shift vanishes. This result is in good agreement with recent experiments.

  • The Standard Model of particle physics was established after discovery of the Higgs boson. However, little is known about dark matter, which has mass and constitutes approximately five times the number of standard model particles in space. The cross-section of dark matter is much smaller than that of the existing Standard Model, and the range of the predicted mass is wide, from a few eV to several PeV. Therefore, massive amounts of astronomical, accelerator, and simulation data are required to study dark matter, and efficient processing of these data is vital. Computational science, which can combine experiments, theory, and simulation, is thus necessary for dark matter research. A computational science and deep learning-based dark matter research platform is suggested for enhanced coverage and sharing of data. Such an approach can efficiently add to our existing knowledge on the mystery of dark matter.

  • Magnetization measurements have been carried out on grain aligned Hg-1223 with the applied field parallel to the c-axis. The temperature dependence of the lower critical field H$_{cl}$(T) was determined by considering the effect of the surface barrier on the magnetization. H$_{cl}$(T) have been determined .from magnetic hysteresis loops within the framework of the modified Kim-Anderson critical-state model, where the surface barrier and the lower critical field are explicitly considered. At high temperature, H$_{cl}$(T) is identified as H$_p$(T). This results are agreed with the theory of Bean-Livinston surface barriers.

  • The theory of Bartleson and Breneman that the perceived image contrast changes with surround luminance (the lighter surround provides higher contrast) was tested an over bright condition($8500d/m^2$). Contrarily to the Bartleson and Breneman's results, we observed the fact that perceived constrast was decreased when surround huminance increased from dark to over bright through two sets of psychophysical experiments based upon both uniform gray patches and complex color images.

  • Using coherence theory, the partially coherent flat-topped vortex hollow beam is introduced. The analytical equation for propagation of a partially coherent flat-topped vortex hollow beam in turbulent atmosphere is derived, using the extended Huygens-Fresnel diffraction integral formula. The influence of coherence length, beam order N, topological charge M, and structure constant of the turbulent atmosphere on the average intensity of this beam propagating in turbulent atmosphere are analyzed using numerical examples.

  • Using first-principles density-functional theory calculations, we find dramatically different electronic states in the C chains generated on the H-terminated C(111) surface, depending on their length and parity. The infinitely long chain has $\pi$ electrons completely delocalized over the chain, yielding an equal C-C bond length. As the chain length becomes finite, such delocalized $\pi$ electrons are transformed into localized ones. As a result, even-numbered chains exhibit a strong charge-lattice coupling, leading to a bond-alternated structure, while odd-numbered chains show a ferrimagnetic spin ordering with a solitonlike structure. These geometric and electronic features of infinitely and finitely long chains are analogous to those of the closed (benzene) and open (polyacetylene) chains of hydrocarbons, respectively.

  • We have measured the Hall effect in infinite-layer Sr/sub 0.9/La/sub 0.1/$CuO_2$ thin films grown by molecular beam epitaxy. We do not observe $T^{2}$ dependence of the cotangent of Hall angle, which is commonly observed in other cuprate High-Tc superconductors. Therefore, this result cannot be interpreted within two different scattering mechanism based on charge-spin separation theory. The mixed-state Hall effect shows no sign anomaly, implying that tile hydrodynamic contribution of vortex core is negligibly small.

  • Fractional quantum Hall Effect (FQSH) is one of most fundamental issues in condensed matter physics, and the Topological insulator becomes its prominent applications. This article reviews the general frameworks of these development and the physical properties. FQSH states and topological insulators are supposed to be topologically invariant under the minor change of geometrical shape or internal impurities. The phase transitions involved in this phenomena are known not to be explained in terms of symmetry breaking or Landau-Ginsburg theory. The new type of phase transitions related to topological invariants has acquired new name - topological phase transition. The intuitive concepts and the other area having same type of phase transitions are discussed.

  • Terahertz time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) is applied in transmission to identify the five forms of modifications of furosemide and one commercial product from 0.3 THz to 1.6 THz at room temperature. The different absorption spectra of the different forms are sensitive to crystal structures. Density function theory (DFT) calculation was used to understand the vibrational modes of furosemide in the THz region. X-ray powder diffractometry (XRPD) was applied to confirm the different forms of modifications. The results demonstrate that THz-TDS is a potential analytical technique in investigating polymorphic forms in the pharmaceutical fields.

  • This article focuses on the study of the buckling behavior of two-dimensional functionally graded (2D-FG) nanosize tubes, including porosity, based on the first shear deformation and higher-order theory of the tube. The nano-scale tube is simulated using the nonlocal gradient strain theory, and the general equations and boundary conditions are derived using Hamilton's principle for the Zhang-Fu's tube model (as a higher-order theory) and Timoshenko beam theory. Finally, the derived equations are solved using a numerical method for both simply-supported and clamped boundary conditions. A parametric study is performed to investigate the effects of different parameters, such as axial and radial FG power indices, porosity parameter, and nonlocal gradient strain parameters, on the buckling behavior of the bi-dimensional functionally graded porous tube.
