  • The purpose of this study was to search for physical treatments to reduce allergenicity of pork. Physical treatments such as heating, autoclave, microwave, sonication, and irradiation have been used for food processing or reduction of allergenicity. The porcine serum albumin (PSA), known as a major allergen in pork, was extracted after physical treatments. The antigenicity of pork extracts by heating (80 and $100^{\circ}C$ for 20 min), autoclave ($121^{\circ}C$ for 5, 10, and 30 min), and microwave (for 5 and 10 min) was significantly decreased. Especially, the binding ability of p-IgG to pork extracts by autoclave for 30 min showed the greatest decrease (about 3%) in physical treatments. However, the antigenicity of pork was unaffected by sonication and irradiation treatment. These results indicated that the autoclave treatment was the most effective method to reduce the antigenicity of pork.

  • Diabetic foot ulcers result from abnormal mechanical loading of the foot, such as repetitive pressure applied to the plantar aspect of the foot while walking. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy causes changes in foot structure, affecting foot function and subsequently leading to increased plantar foot pressure, which is a predictive risk factor for the development of diabetic foot ulceration. To early identify the insensitive foot makes it possible to prevent diabetic foot ulceration and to protect the foot at risk from abnormal biomechanical loading. Abnormal foot pressures can be reduced using several different approaches, including callus debridement, prescription of special footwear, foot orthosis. injection of liquid silicone, Achilles tendon lengthening, and so forth. Off-loading of the diabetic wound is a key factor to successful wound healing as it is associated with reduced inflammatory and accelerated repair processes. Pressure relief can be achieved using various off-loading modalities including accommodative dressing, walking splints, ankle-foot orthosis, total contact cast, and removable and irremovable cast walkers.

  • In the 2nd year study of a 5 year project to evaluate the soil quality and develop the best management practices for mountaineous soils, 11 runoff plots were treated and monitored with respect to physical property of the soil, runoff and sediment discharge, and the following results were obtained. 1. Bulk density and porosity did not show any siginificant difference between experimental treatments. 2. Runoff was basically dependent on the soil's physical property and tillage. Up-and-down plots showed the highest runoff while contour plots the lowest runoff. 3. Sediment yield in the mountaineous soils was directly related to tillage and residue cover. Residue covered plots showed the lowest sediment yield and up-and-down plots the highest sediment yield. And it is recommended that the best management practices using till_age and residue cover for the mountaineous soils must be developed to protect soil quality and maintain agricultural productivity.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify that the effect of the Lumbar extensor strengthening exercise on the trunk range of motion(Lumbar extensor strengthening exercise group = 15, Control group = 15). To find out the improvement of trunk range of motion, each group was examined with Modified Modified Sch ber(MMS) measurement before and after the treatments. The result are as followed. 1. After the training period, the trunk range of motion were increased in both groups. 2. After the training period, both groups revealed no sinigificant difference on the trunk range of motion.

  • This study surveyed the preparation of 8oz coated fabric and the physical property of the coated fabric according to the treated condition for the sail yacht. And the coated fabrics were compared with the performance of overseas products for verification. Physical properties of the coated fabric treated with non-yellowing functional polyurethane resin were examined according to the treatment condition such as compression and ageing treatments. Finally, yellowing fastness to light for 60 hours was assessed. Considering the compression condition after coating, good physical property was obtained at $6kgf/cm^2$. Also, the performance of yellowing fastness was similar to performance of overseas goods.

  • Objective : Compare the results of CPM and PNF in recovery rates when applied as an initial physical therapy. Methods : Randomly selected 19 patients who underwent through total knee replacement surgery. 23 cases were studied and divided into 12 CPM and 11 PNF cases. CPM case was carried out for 60 minutes, a maximum allowed exercise without pain. PNF case was carried out for 20 minutes by a therapist to a patient as 'one on one'. Result : Result showed that PNF treatment was increased significantly at P<0.05 in flexor muscle strength in 8 days after the surgery. Conclusion : The study revealed that in comparison with CPM, PNF was more effective treatment increase of flexor muscle strength in rehabilitation on after total knee replacement surgery.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to analyze the seven passions in terms of physical vector, and to understand the point of actions and directions. The result of this study will help us understand the aspect that the seven passions result in obesity and contribute in finding effective treatments. Methods : The characters of each seven passions were identified according to ${\ulcorner}$Hwangjenaekyung-Huangdineijing${\lrcorner}$. Results and Conclusions : 1. Each of the seven passions differs individually in physical characters in terms of points of actions and directions. 2. As the vector points of each seven passion work closely to digestive metabolism, and if the directions of vector clash into normal physiology, huge effects on obesity can be brought about. 3. Obesity, as a pathological situation, can be approached by canceling out all the vector elements of the seven passions. Here, the vector elements are basically regarded as the sources of obesity. 4. Psychological models of obesity can be applied for prevention and treatment.

  • To study the non-sprouting causes of mulberry saplings, 8 treatments, borax + lime + compost, borax, lime, Jamsi fertilizer No. 1, heavy nitrogen application, branch harvest, heavy harvest and no treatment were applied on the nursery garden. The tract used as the paddy field before sapling produced was very poor in the soil chemical and physical properties. The results were as follows; 1. The survial rates of saplings were higher than 98% in the treatments of borax, lime, Jamsi fertilizer No. 1, whereas were higher than 98% in the treatments of borax, lime, Jamsi fertilizer No. 1, whereas heavy nitrogen 59% and heavy harvest 71%. 2. The survial rate was showed deeper relationship with the chemical concentration in stem cortex than in root cortex, especially the content of B, Cu and Zn. 3. The nitrogen content in stem cortex was much higher in the heavy nitrogen treatment by 0.89%, where as 0.6∼0.7% in the other treatments. However, treatments of the heavy harvest and the branch harvest were around 5%. 4. In order to decrease the non-sprouting sapling rate, nursery garden should be good in soil chemical and physical properties. Harvest from saplings and heavy nitrogen application should be prevented and lime or Jamsi fertilizer should be applied to saplings.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of multi-directional dynamic stabilization exercise on the thickness of the external oblique abdominis, internal oblique abdominis, and transversus abdominis. Methods: For the study subjects, 40 adults were taken and divided into two groups and stabilization exercise was performed for 6 weeks. Changes in muscle thickness during the pre-experimental period, and at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 6 weeks were analyzed using repeated ANOVA. Results: The thickness of the external oblique abdominis, internal oblique abdominis, and transversus abdominis in the multi-directional dynamic stabilization exercise group showed significant differences per period and an interaction was observed between period and group (p<0.01), while there were no significant differences in changes per group (p>0.05). Conclusion: The effects of multi-directional stabilization exercises on abdominal muscle thickness differed. The results presented herein can be utilized as basic data for future studies and in development of rehabilitation treatments.
