The robot has recently emerged as a factor in the daily lives of humans, taking the form of a mechanical pet or similar source of entertainment. A robot system that is designed to co-exist with humans, i.e., a coexistence-type robot system, is important to be "it exists in various environments with the person, and robot system by which the interaction of a physical, informational emotion with the person etc. was valued". When studying the impact of intimacy in the human/robot relationship, we have to examine the problems that can arise as a result of physical intimacy(coordination on safety in the hardware side and a soft side). Furthermore, We should also consider the informational aspects of intimacy (recognition technology, and information transport and sharing). This paper reports the interim results of the research of a system configuration that enhances the physical intimacy relationship in the symbiosis of the human and the robot.
Purpose: The purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between sexual knowledge, frequency, satisfaction, marital intimacy, and depression levels in stroke survivors and their spouses. Methods: This study was a convenience sample of Korean men who had experienced a stroke and their spouses. The subjects were discharged from the hospital and received physical therapy. Data such as sexual knowledge, frequency, satisfaction, marital intimacy, and depression levels were collected from November 2005 to April 2006. Results: In a comparison of stroke survivors and their spouses, the survivors showed higher mean levels of sexual knowledge and marital intimacy. The levels of knowledge, frequency, satisfaction and marital intimacy were low and depression was mild in the subjects. There were significant correlations between sexual frequency, sexual satisfaction and marital intimacy. Also, subjects with lower levels of sexual satisfaction were more depressed. The spouses who possessed greater levels of sexual knowledge reported a higher frequency of sex and greater marital intimacy. In addition, spouses who reported feeling greater levels of marital intimacy experienced fewer depressive symptoms. Conclusion: These findings demonstrate a need for the development of sexual adaptation programs which could be effective in improving sexual knowledge, frequency, satisfaction, marital intimacy, and depression reported by stroke patients and their spouses. Ideally, these corrective programs should be administered before patients are discharged from the hospital.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating role of the father's play participation in the relationship between father playfulness and father-child intimacy. Methods: We conducted a survey of 500 fathers with 3~5 years olds attending kindergartens and located in Seoul and Gyeonggi province. Father's Playfulness Scale, Father's Play Participation Scale, and Father-Child Intimacy Scale were used as data measuring tools. The data collected in this study were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 Program. Results: As a result of examining sub-variables of play participation among fathers, it turned out that mediating effects occurred in physical play, role play, and function play. Conclusion/Implications: The results of this study suggest the necessity of developing a father education program to increase the intimacy between father and child as the role of father becomes increasingly important in the age of co-parenting.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of marital intimacy on the impact of uncertainty on the quality of life (QoL) of young breast cancer patients. Methods: This study used a pathway analysis with 154 young breast cancer cases in their early diagnosis stage at a medical center in Korea. Data were collected from November 2016 to February 2017 and analyzed using correlation analysis and pathway analysis. Results: Uncertainty, marital intimacy, and 4 sub-scales of QoL showed a significant correlation. Marital intimacy was directly affected by uncertainty (${\beta}=-.39$, p=.013) and 4 sub-scales of QoL were also affected by uncertainty. Among the 4 sub-scales of QoL, physical well-being (PWB) (${\beta}=.17$, p=.026), social well-being (SWB) (${\beta}=.49$, p=.010), and functional well-being (FWB) (${\beta}=.38$, p=.009) were affected by marital intimacy but emotional well-being (EWB) was not affected by it. The mediating effect of marital intimacy on the impact of uncertainty on QoL was confirmed. Marital intimacy showed a significant indirect effect on PWB (${\beta}=-.07$, p=.024), SWB (${\beta}=-.19$, p=.008), and FWB (${\beta}=-.15$, p=.005), and it means that marital intimacy has a partial mediating effect on the impact of uncertainty on PWB, SWB, and FWB. Conclusion: Effects of uncertainty on QoL was mediated by marital intimacy of young breast cancer patients in their early diagnosis stage. It suggests that marital intimacy needs to be considered in providing nursing intervention for young breast cancer patients.
Purpose: This study was designed to construct and test the structural equation model on sexual satisfaction in patients with a colostomy. Methods: The model construction was based upon Roy's adaptation model. Stoma-related discomfort (SRD), age, frequency of sexual intercourse, treatment modality, and gender affect sexual satisfaction and are mediated by physical, psychosocial, and interdependence modes. Each mode was conceptualized as sexual function, body image/ depression, and marital intimacy. The patients were 112 colostomates with colorectal cancer who were asked to complete a mail-back survey on their demographic data, SRD, body image, depression, marital intimacy, sexual function, and sexual satisfaction. Data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 15.0 and AMOS WIN 7.0. Results: Significant variables for sexual satisfaction in the final model were body image affected by SRD, depression affected by body image and SRD, marital intimacy affected by depression, and sexual function affected by marital intimacy. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that specific guidelines for SRD are necessary to improve sexual satisfaction among colostomates. Nurses should be vigilant in monitoring depression and body image disturbance, and providing appropriate interventions to increase marital intimacy. Treatment modality, gender, and age should be considered in developing education programs pertaining to sexuality.
The effects of personal(gender, physical growth) and environmental(communication with parent, intimacy of friendship, school performance, and satisfaction of school-life) factors on adolescent's self-esteem were examined in a samlpe of 525 first and second grades in middle school. The subdomains of the self-esteem were peer-related self, home self, teacher-related self, academic self, physical appearance self, physical competence self, personality self, and general self. T-test, Pearson's correlation, and regression were used as statistical analysis. Results were as follows. First, there was evidence of a gender difference in the level of the subsdomains of self-esteem: teacher-related, physical-appearance, physical-competence, and personality. Second, the factor which was the most powerful predictor of each subdomain of the self-esteem was as follows 1) the most powerful predictor of the peer-related self was the intimacy of friendship, 2) the most powerful predictor of the home self was the communication with parent, 3) the most powerful predictor of the teacher-related self was the satisfaction of school-life, 4) the most powerful predictor of the academic self was the school performance, 5)the most powerful predictor of the physical-appearance self, the physical competence self, and the personality self was the satisfaction of school-life, 6) the most powerful predictor of the general self was the school performance.
This study develops and evaluates a mother-child relationship improvement program for poor female-headed families. The program consists of seven sessions including various physical and educational activities. The goals of this program are (1) enhancing emotional support, health, and physical intimacy among the female heads of households and their children, (2) understanding each other's wants and personalities, and (3) facilitating the communication skills and increasing knowledge on adolescent sexual development. Four mothers of poor female-headed families and four adolescent children of them were participated in the program. The result of the program evaluation shows that this program had positive effects on improving mother-child relationship and their Interaction.
Objective: The purpose of this research was to examine the prediction models of conflict and intimacy in teacher-child relationships based on decision tree analysis. Methods: The participants were 297 preschool children from ages three to five including 166 boys and 131 girls. Teacher-child relationships were measured by the Student-Teacher Relationship Scale(STRS). Physical aggression, relational aggression, social withdrawal, and prosocial behaviors were measured by teacher ratings. Moreover, ADHD-RS(Attentive Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Rating Scale) was used to measure ADHD. The data was analyzed with decision tree analysis. Results: According to the prediction model for teacher-child conflict, the significant predictors were physical aggression and social withdrawal. According to the prediction model for teacher-child intimacy, the significant predictors were prosocial behaviors and relational aggression. However, children's age, gender and ADHD were not significant predictors. Conclusion/Implications: The findings suggest that social behaviors may be closely related with teacher-child relationships for preschool children. Based on the results of this study, intervention suggestions were made.
The present study focuses on the relation of the attitudes of university students to disabled by using modified disability factor scales(DFS, Siller). As for the attitude areas, it relies on the eight categories DFS provides. The 8 categories that specify each attitude area are: generalized rejection, distressed identification, inferred emotional consequences, imputed functional limitation, authoritarian virtuousness, rejection of intimacy, interaction strain, mainstreaming. This study is based on a series of questionnaire researches conducted on 322 students, over the period from October 19th to November 14th, 2001. The questionnaire carries 50 items, covering the 8 attitude areas and each item has 5 choices. The subjects' responses to each of the areas are examined in their relations to the four conditions, as they are analysed by t-test and one way ANOVA. The conclusion drawn from the research are as follows: 1. There is no significant difference between the students of the department concerned with the problem of disability, and those of the department unconcerned. But the responses are significantly different in the three areas of generalized rejection, rejection of intimacy and interaction strain(1st condition, P<.05). 2. The responses are significantly different in 6 areas except for the two, distressed identification and inferred emotional consequences, between the students who have volunteered services as helpers of the disabled and those who have no such experiences(2nd condition, P<.05). 3. the responses are significantly different between those who have volunteered long-time services and those who are far less experienced(3nd condition, P<.05). 4. There is no significant difference, whether the subjects have disabled persons around them or not. But generalized rejection, authoritarian virtuousness, rejection of intimacy, interaction strain & mainstreming show significant differences(4th condition, P<.05). 5. Generalized rejection, rejection intimacy and interaction strain show significant differences in every pair of the 4 condition. 6. Distressed identification and inferred emotional consequence show no significant difference between the two conditions in every pair of the 4 considerations.
