Methods: The research design for this study was a descriptive survey design using a convenience sampling. Elders (n=276), who agreed to participate in this study completed a self-reporting questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. Results: Study participants reported low trait anger (M=18.61), physical symptoms (M=7.15), and moderate health state (M=3.30). The 45.4%of variance in physical symptoms was significantly explained by emotional function health state (${\beta}$=-.284, p=.013), which is one of the sub-domain of the elderly health state, and trait anger (${\beta}$=3.841, p<.001). Conclusion: Findings of this study provide that the most important factors in explaining physical symptoms for the elders in Korea were emotional function health state and trait anger. Based on the findings of this study, further nursing practice and nursing research for the elders with physical symptoms should be focused on emotional support.

Methods : The subjects in this study were 287 selected 20-30 ages adults, on whom a survey was conducted from June 15 to July 10, 2014. The data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0(SPSS 18.0 K for window, SPSS Inc USA) and IBM SPSS Amos 18.0(SPSS Inc, Chicago, IL, USA). There were significant differences in oral habits, TMJ symptoms, physical and psycho-emotional symptoms according to Systemic disease. And stress, physical, psycho-emotional symptoms, oral habits and TMJ symptoms were correlated to one another. Stress exerted a direct influence on physical, psycho-emotional symptoms, and psycho-emotional symptoms had a direct impact on physical symptoms, oral habits and TMJ symptoms. Physical symptoms exercised a direct influence on oral habits and TMJ symptoms, and oral habits affected TMJ symptoms in a direct way. physical, psycho-emotional symptoms and oral habits served as parameters that produced partial mediation effects, and the two factors had an indirect impact on TMJ symptoms. Conclusions : It's found that stress exerted direct and indirect influence on oral parafunction and TMJ symptoms. Like other diseases, oral habits and TMJ symptom that stem from stress is likely to lead to chronic diseases if the two are not noticed at the right time. Therefore individual people should try to get rid of stress in a manner to be appropriate for their own characteristics in order to maintain their oral health.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this longitudinal study was to examine the relationship between postpartum care performance and postpartum health status. Sample: The study subjects were 82 mothers who delivered full-term infants at 3 hospitals at P city. Data were collected for their health status at the postpartum unit and the sample was followed up to 6 weeks postpartum to collect postpartum care performance and health status. Results: Mothers rated postpartum care performance as moderate to high and especially rated the maternal role attainment the highest. Mothers experienced 4 physical symptoms and moderate levels of fatigue. In addition, they experienced moderate levels of positive affect and low levels of negative affect at both times. Canonical correlation revealed that ostpartum care performance was related to postpartum health status with 2 significant canonical variables. The first variate indicated that mothers who performed hospitality, physical and emotional recovery, self-caring, and role attainment well showed higher positive affects, lower negative affects, fewer physical symptoms, and lower levels of fatigue. The second variate showed that the greater the performance of caring and physical and emotional recovery, the fewer physical symptoms and lower levels of fatigue. Conclusion: Although Korean traditional postpartum care performance was related to postpartum health status, the further study is needed to identify the causal relationship between them. Nurses need to integrate the perspective of westernized postpartum care and Korean traditional views of postpartum approach to maintain and promote women's health.

As a result of hierarchical multiple regression, age, leisure time, coffee consumption, subjective health status, physical burden of work, sense of satisfaction at work, fit to the job and emotional labour were selected as significant variables and related variables effecting the level of depressive symptoms. These variables' descriptive power was 39.4%, especially, it can be seen that 11.0% descriptive power increased by putting the emotional labor variables. The results above imply that there is significant relation between emotional labor and depressive symptoms and various variables such as socio-demographic characteristics, health-related behavior factors and job-related factors. The oral health impact profile-14 (OHIP-14) was used in the routine dental checkups of the elderly people. Results : Those who had no oral symptoms had a better oral health-related quality of life. Among the subfactors of the OHIP-14, significant differences were shown in functional limitation(p=0.001), physical pain(p<0.001), emotional discomfort(p<0.001), physical disability(p=0.001), emotional disability (p=0.001), social disability(p=0.005), physical handicap(p=0.003) and total OHIP-14(p<0.001). Those who had 18 sound teeth(natural teeth) or more had a better oral health-related quality of life. Among the subfactors of the OHIP-14, significant differences were shown in functional limitation(p<0.001), physical pain(p=0.007), emotional discomfort(p=0.019), physical disability(p=0.018), Emotional disability(p=.032) and total OHIP-14 (p=0.006). Conclusions : The results revealed a close relationship between oral health status and oral health-related quality of life. The number of sound teeth(natural teeth) and frequency of toothbrushing had a more positive influence. Therefore oral health programs for the elderly people can preserve remaining teeth. Toothbrushing is the best way to improve the quality of life in the elderly people.

  • Stress is closely associated with oral diseases, being considered to be one of important variables to affect the improvement of oral health and the quality of life. In this study, a survey was conducted on 550 adults from July 1, 2012, to February 28, 2013. A path analysis was carried out to determine the influence of physical stress symptoms and psycho-emotional stress symptoms on dry mouth, oral mucosal disease and halitosis symptoms. The findings of the study were as follows: Oral mucosa affected halitosis in a direct effect and dry mouth exerted a direct influence on that as well. When stress symptoms affected halitosis, dry mouth and oral mucosa had an indirect impact on that as parameters. Dry mouth exercised a direct influence on oral mucosa. The above-mentioned findings suggested that the physical stress symptoms and psycho-emotional stress symptoms of the adults affected their dry mouth, oral mucosal disease and halitosis both in direct and indirect effects. As the stress of adults is closely bound up with their oral diseases, how to properly cope with stress should carefully be considered in order for them to lead a better life.

  • This study examined the level of an emotional labour, depressive symptoms, and presenteeism of counselors working in a call center depending on socio-demographic characteristics, health-related factors, and job-related factors. Especially, the main purpose of a survey was to investigate the relevance to an emotional labour, the level of depressive symptoms and presenteeism. The research subjects were 304 counselors working at two call centers in Daejeon, and the survey was conducted from April 1, 2014 to May 31, 2014, using a structured self-administered questionnaire. As a result, the emotional labour, depressive symptoms and presenteeism experienced by the research subjects had a deep relation to many variables like socio-demographic characteristics, health-related factors and job-related factors. Especially, presenteeism showed a meaningful positive correlation with depressive symptoms and emotional labour factors. According to the result of a hierarchical multiple regression analysis, the meaningful variables related to presenteeism were age, the amount of a physical burden, the level of depressive symptoms, the surface action of an emotional labour. Therefore, to lower down the counselors' presenteeism, the development and implement of a mental healthcare program to control not only depressive symptoms and the level of an emotional labour is urgently needed.
