  • This paper reports on an experimental study of the absorption of COS in a secondary amine diethanolamine. The primary objectives were to investigate an analogy between $N_2$O and COS, thereby allowing an estimation of the physical solubility and diffusivity of the sulfur gases in the reacting amine solutions. The solubilities and diffusivities of $N_2$O and COS in 5~25% aqueous polyethylene glycol at $25^{\circ}C$ were measured. The results appeared to verify the use of an $N_2$O-COS analogy for estimating the solubility and diffusivity of COS in aqueous solutions of alkanolamines up to an approximate 25 weight % concentration. The mean deviation of the $N_2$O analogy relative to the measured solubilities was 3.7%, and the mean deviation between the analogy and the measured diffusion coefficients using the experimental values for Hcos/PEG was 14.6%.

  • previously, several basic studies in the experimental analysis of stress intensity factors of cracks by slab analogy have been presented by authors. But, for the application of above mentioned method to the analysis of the arbitrarily distributed cracks, there still is several bottlenecks to be overcome in terms of its experimental process and data treatment. Moreover, authors recently proposed an improved experimental method to use the fixed slab analogy device which has promised more accurate measurement of S.I.F. of small cracks. In this paper, for the completion of slab analogy analysis of distributed cracks, a grating imaginary rotation method is introduced. And, to prove its validity, this combined method is applied to the determination of stress intensity factors of theoretically known distributed cracks. The results show good agreement with the existing theoretical solutions and physical crack propagation tendencies.

  • This research suggests science inquiry play of analogy as a teaming method to help the students in concrete operational stage to develop scientific thinking skills and to understand abstract science conceptions. The research focuses on/considers the characteristics and merits of the science inquiry plays, and the learning method by analogical reasoning. This learning through the science inquiry play of analogy can be considered as a meta-model for scientific thinking skill. The learning has the following processes: 1) Students analogize the abstract science conceptions and facts into play-type activities including the concrete contents such as students themselves, their physical-sensory motions, concrete objects, play methods, and play rules. 2) Students as analogized objects play a role physically and sensuously according to the methods and rules analogized in the play. 3) Students find out the concrete contents included in the science inquiry play of analogy, draw the results, and deduce the new conceptions from the results by reflective thinking and analogical reasoning.

  • In this study, we investigated the characteristics of lessons using student-centered analogies by pre-service science teachers. Six pre-service science teachers at a college of education in Seoul participated in this study. They practiced lessons using student-centered analogies in teaching practices. We observed their planning lessons and the lessons. Also we interviewed them before and after their lessons. All the data collected were analyzed by using the constant comparative method. There were some cases where they did not clearly guide methods and rules of analogy activities when using physical analogy and role-playing analogy. Also, some of them invited students to predict the outcome of analogy activities. In lessons using role-playing analogy, they gave roles to only a few of students and had a trouble dealing with target concepts. In lessons using self-generated analogy, they had a hard time dealing with unexpected analogies that students generated and provided examples of analogies in order to help students to generate analogies. Educational implications of these findings are discussed.

  • In the present study, solution algorithms for the computation of unsteady flows on an unstructured mesh are presented. Dual time stepping is incorporated to achieve the 2-nd order temporal accuracy while reducing the linearization and the factorization errors associated with a linear solver. Hence, any time step can be used by only considering physical phenomena. Gauss-Seidel scheme is used to solve linear system of equations. Rigid motion and spring analogy method fur moving mesh are all considered and compared. Special treatments of spring analogy for high aspect ratio cells are presented. Finally, numerical results for oscillating wing are compared with experimental data.

  • The yardstick of value has transformed into personal and sensitive one after it went through an Industrial society. The space in the society of sensitivity is defined by a semiotic character rather than as a physical object aimed at satisfying basic desire. Through this character, space makes a meaning and comes to exist an exchanging productive place. Environmental transformation is demanding further ample sensitive expression. In connection with the above, this thesis aims to identify the characteristics of sensitive and human-centered approach and systematize the analogy analysis which is applied to the interior space, classified by elements by introducing the concept of analogic inference in the field of rhetoric and through a diverse genres. As an approach, this thesis is entitled the analogic inference of the field of rhetoric to various art genres, and as a analogic interpretation genre, this thesis Is subdivided it into the fields of literature, image, fashion, flower art, and visual design, and study the analysis of analogic inference as a means of materializing storied space through the connection literature with design.

  • According to the National Health Insurance Corporation in 2008, there were 17,764,428 physical therapy patients, exceeding 31 percent for the population covered by health insurance. This means that three out of 10 Koreans received physical therapy. And now, 10 years later, due to the aging population and the increase in the sports population, the number of patients with physical therapy is expected to be much more than a decade ago. Among them, many physical therapy patients were orthopedic and neurologic disorder. However, in the medical field applied to physical therapy, it is widely applied across all medical fields, including orthopedics, neurosurgery, pediatrics, gynecology, thoracic surgery and dentistry. It is believed that various cases of patients receiving physical therapy will be secured. as mentioned earlier, there will be a large number of patients with physical therapy treatments, making big data analytics easier. based on this, physical therapy applications are thought to be helpful in the analogy of disease and the development of effective physical therapy and will ultimately promote the development of physical therapy.

  • This study investigated the influences of a student-centered analogical instruction using physical analogies upon students' conception and application, retention of conception and application, perceptions of science classroom environment, and perceptions of analogical instruction. Six classes of seventh graders (N=208) at a middle school in Seoul were assigned to the control, the teacher-centered analogy (TCA), and the student-centered analogy (SCA) groups. They were taught about 'three states of matter' and 'motion of molecules' for 8 class hours. Analysis of the results revealed that the scores of the SCA group were significantly higher than those of the other groups in the conception test, retention test of conception and application, and perception test of science classroom environment. The scores of the SCA group in the application test were also higher than those of the other groups, but there was a significant difference only between the control and the SCA groups. The TCA group performed significantly better than the control group only in the test of the retention of application. In addition, the students in the SCA group exhibited more positive perceptions of the analogical instruction than those in the TCA group. Educational implications are discussed.

  • An experimental study of the absorption of CS$_{2}$ in the secondary amine diethanolamine(DEA) was performed in this work. The primary objectives were to investigate an analogy between N2O and CS$_{2}$ permitting estimation of the physical solubility and diffusivity of the sulfur gases in the reacting amino solutions. The solubilities of CS$_{2}$ in water at 25, 40 and 6$0^{\circ}C$ has been measured. The data show fair agreement with previous literature values. The solubility of CS$_{2}$ in 5-25 weight % polyethylene glycol has been measured in order to investigate a possible analogy between CS$_{2}$ and N$_{2}$O The diffusivities of CS$_{2}$ in water and the reaction rate between CS$_{2}$ and DEA has been measured at 25 and 4$0^{\circ}C$, using a wetted sphere apparatus operated at approximately 1/3 atmospheres pressure, which is a previously untried method.
