A Signal processor for the open-loop fiber optic gyroscope(FOG) is equipped with a stabilizer to reduce the error due to drift of fiber phase modulator (FPM). The stabilizer is designed to be operated to maintain the ratio of amplitude and phase between harmonics in the FOG signal. When FPM stabilizer is used, the temperature drift of FOG is reduced to less than 0.5 deg/hr in change of 20$^{\circ}C$.
An all-digital closed-loop (ADCL) signal processor for an open-loop FOG was developed to replace the analog circuitry of a Digital Phase Tracking (DPT) signal processor with new digital circuitry. When the ADCL signal processor without a stabilizer for fiber phase modulator (FPM) was attached to the FOG, temperature drift of FOG was about 0.26$\mu$rad/$^{\circ}C$, which makes the FOG unusable in medium or higher-grade applications. This drift was due to variations of phase modulation amplitude and phase delay of the FPM. The stabilizer controls its phase modulation amplitude and phase delay by regulating the ratio of harmonics of the FOG output. Thus, the stabilizer reduces the drift of the FOG to negligible.
Suspension polymerizations of styrene were conducted in the aqueous phase with tricalcium phosphate (TCP) as a stabilizer and $\alpha$, $\alpha$'-azobis(isobutyronitrile) (AIBN) as an initiator. Various amounts of initiator and stabilizer were selected and the reaction was carried out at a selected temperature between 60 to 80 $\^{C}$. It was found that the combination of 5 wt% stabilizer and 2.427$\times$10$\^$-3/ mol/L of costabilizer is the minimum amount for suspension polymerization reaction to produce particles in the aqueous phase. Particles were found to be polydisperse in diameter, regardless of reaction conditions. Class transitions were observed to be around 95$\^{C}$, nearly independent of reaction temperature and initiator. Homogenizer was found to be essential in forming particles in the proximity of tens of micrometers in diameter in suspension polymerization with TCP as stabilizer.

This paper presents a design of fuzzy power system stabilizer (FPSS) using adaptive evolutionary computation (AEC). We have proposed an adaptive evolutionary algorithm which uses a genetic algorithm (GA) and an evolution strategy (ES) in an adaptive manner in order to take merits of two different evolutionary computations. FPSS shows better control performances than conventional power system stabilizer (CPSS) in three-phase fault with heavy load which is used when tuning FPSS. To show the robustness of the proposed FPSS, it is appliedto damp the low frequency oscillations caused by disturbances such as three-phase fault with normal and light load, the angle deviation of generator with normal and light load and the angle deviation of generator with heavy load. Proposed FPSS shows better robustness than CPSS.

An experimental study has been made to investigate the effect on wake flow and vortex shedding frequency by vortex stabilizer in Karman vortex type air flow sensor. The conditions investigated include 3 types of shapes and 3 types of separation distances of the vortex stabilizer. The phase averaged technique and smoke-wire flow visualization method are used to understand the detail information. The rolling up position of shear layer is fixed by the influence of the vortex stabilizer. Especially, the convex type vortex stabilizer has shown the more stable repeatability and linearity regarding the vortex shedding frequency compared to the other types.

This paper presents a design of artificial neural network power system stabilizer(ANNPSS) using adaptive evolutionary algorithm(AEA). We have proposed an adaptive evolutionary algorithm which uses both a genetic algorithm(GA) and an evolution strategy(ES), useing the merits of two different evolutionary computations. ANNPSS shows better control performances than conventional power system stabilizer(CPSS) in three-phase fault with heavy load which is used when tuning ANNPSS. To show the robustness of the proposed ANNPSS, it is applied to damp the low frequency oscillation caused by disturbances such as three-phase fault with normal and light load. the proposed ANNPSS shows better robustness than CPSS.
This paper deals with parameter tuning of the Power System Stabilizer (PSS) for 612 MVA thermal power plants in the KEPCO system and its validation in a field test. In this paper, the selection of parameters, such as lead-lag time constants for phase compensation and system gain, is optimized using linear and eigenvalue analyses. This is then verified through the time-domain transient stability analysis. In the next step, the performance of PSS is finally verified by the generator's on-line field test. After the field test, measured and simulated data are also compared to prove the effectiveness of the models used in the simulations.
Dicalcium silicate has many polymorphs according to temperature. $\beta$-dicalcium silicate which exists in cement is stabilized by minor components drived from raw materials regardless of temperature, such as high temperature and room temperature. K2O, SO3 and B2O3 are effective stabilizers for $\beta$-dicalcium silicate at room temperature. B2O3 was the most effective stabilizer. Transformation from $\beta$ to ${\gamma}$ phase causes dicalcium silicate to change volume, resulting in dusting phenomenon. When B2O3 was used the phase transformation is the least than any other stabilizers. In addition, the starting temperature of quenching influences phases transformation : low temperature of quenching presented much phase transformation and decreased size of parameter of $\beta$-dicalcium silicate.

This paper presents the design of a fuzzy power system stabilizer (FPSS) using an adaptive evolutionary algorithm (AEA). AEA consists of genetic algorithm (GA) for a global search capability and evolution strategy (ES) for a local search in an adaptive manner when the present generation evolves into the next generation. AEA is used to optimize the membership functions and scaling factors of the FPSS. To evaluate the usefulness of the FPSS, we applied it to a single-machine infinite bus system (SIBS) and a power system simulator at the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute. The FPSS displays better control performance than the conventional power system stabilizer (CPSS) for a three-phase fault in heavy load, which is used when tuning FPSS. To show the robustness of the FPSS, it is applied with disturbances such as change of mechanical torque and three-phase fault in nominal and heavy load, etc. The FPSS also demonstrates better robustness than the CPSS. Experimental results indicate that the FPSS has good system damping under various disturbances such as one-line to ground faults, line parameter changes, transformer tap changes, etc.

Phase transformation phenomenon at high temperature was investigated by using designed TiAl-Nb alloys with addition of the ${\beta}$ stabilizer. Examination of dendritic morphologies in arc-melted button ingot could reveal the crystallography of the primary solidification phase. It was found that the addition of ${\beta}$ stabilizer(Nb) shifted the high temperature region of the binary Ti-Al phase diagram to the high Al composition side so that ${\beta}$ phase forms as a primary crystal even at higher Al composition compared with the binary Ti-Al system. The ${\beta}$ was found to be the primary solidification phase for alloys with Al content less than about 52 at.%. The composition of ${\beta}$ solidification in Ti-Al-Nb ternary system could be determined from the partial liquidus projection which was constructed by observing the microstructure of arc-melted buttons. The Ti-46Al-(6, 8)Nb composition was selected for ${\beta}$ solidification and the directional solidification was performed by a floating zone-type DS apparatus at the growth rate 30 mm/hr respectively.
