In this paper we have proposed a new architecture of DQ-IRM(Double-Quadrature Image Rejection Mixer) for image rejection in the low-IF receiver. It consist of a frequency-tunable RF PPF(Poly Phase Filter) and the quadrature mixers. The conventional DQ-IRM generates the quadrature RF signals for the RF wide band at once. But the proposed DQ-IRM with the frequency-tuable RF PPF generates the quadrature RF signals for the narrow band of 2~3 channels bandwidth, which is partitioned from the RF wide band. We designed the CMOS RF tuner for T-DMB(Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) with the proposed 3rd DQ-IRM using a 0.18um CMOS technology and verified the performances of the designed receiver such as the image rejection ratio, the noise figure and the power consumption. The overall NF of the RF tuner is about 1.26 dB and the image reject ratio is about 51 dB. The power consumption is 55.8 mW at 1.8 V supply voltage. The chip area is $3.0{\times}2.5mm^2$.
We present an efficient and robust technique to estimate the velocity of moving targets from a single SAR image. In SAR images, azimuth image shift is a well blown phenomenon, which is observed in moving targets having slant-range velocity. Most methods estimated the velocity of moving targets from the distance difference between the road and moving targets or between ship and the ship wake. However, the methods could not be always applied to moving targets because it is difficult to find the road and the ship wake. We propose a method for estimating the velocity of moving targets from azimuth differentials of range-compressed image. This method is based on a phenomenon that Doppler center frequency shift of moving target causes a phase difference in azimuth differential values. The phase difference is linearly distorted by Doppler rate due to the geometry of SAR image. The linear distortion is eliminated from phase removal procedure, and then the constant phase difference is estimated. Finally, range velocity estimates for moving targets are retrieved from the constant phase difference. This technique was tested using an ENVISAT ASAR image in which several unknown ships are presented. In the case of a isolated target, the result was nearly coincident with the result from conventional method. However, in the case of a target which is located near non-target material, the difference of the result between from our algorithm and from conventional method was more than 1m/s.
Example-based super resolution is a method to restore a high resolution image from low resolution images through training and retrieval of image patches. It is not only good in its performance but also available for a single frame low-resolution image. However, its time complexity is very high because it requires lots of comparisons to retrieve image patches in restoration process. In order to improve the restoration speed, an efficient patch retrieval algorithm is essential. In this paper, we applied various high-dimensional feature retrieval methods, available for the patch retrieval, to a practical example-based super resolution system and compared their speed. As well, we propose to apply the multi-phase candidate reduction approach to the patch retrieval process, which was successfully applied in character recognition fields but not used for the super resolution. In the experiments, LSH was the fastest among conventional methods. The multi-phase candidate reduction method, proposed in this paper, was even faster than LSH: For $1024{\times}1024$ images, it was 3.12 times faster than LSH.

Phase averaged velocity fields in the near wake region behind a square cylinder have been (successfully) obtained using randomly sampled PIV data sets. The Reynolds number based on the flow velocity and the vertex height was 3,900. To identify the phase information, we examined the magnitude of circulation and the center of peak vorticity. The center of vorticity was estimated from lowpass filtered vorticity contours (LES decomposition) adopting a sub-pixel searching algirithm. Due to the sinusoidal nature of firculation which is closely related to the instantaneous vorticity, the location of peak voticity fits well with a sine curve of the circulation magnitude. Conditionally-averaged velocity fields represent the barman vortex shedding phenomenon very well within 5 degrees phase uncertainty. The oscillating nature of the separated shear layer and the separation bubble at the top surface are clearly observed. With the hot-wire measurements of Strouhal frequency, we found thats the convection velocity changes its magnitude very rapidly from 25 to 75 percent of the free stream velocity along the streamwise direction when the flow passes by the recirculation region.

PGA(phase gradient autofocus) has been widely used to remove motion induced phase errors in the ISAR(inverse synthetic aperture radar) imaging. The critical process for the processing time and image quality is windowing stage in PGA. In this paper, the new method to determine window size based on polynomial least square approximation is proposed. Moreover, dominant range bins are selected for efficient phase error estimation, which improve image quality and speed up convergence. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm provides high quality ISAR images while computational efficiency of inherent PGA is retained.

This paper proposes a robust digital video stabilization algorithm to extract and track an object, which uses a phase correlation-based motion correction. The proposed video stabilization algorithm consists of background stabilization based on motion estimation and extraction of a moving object. The motion vectors can be estimated by calculating the phase correlation of a series of frames in the eight sub-images, which are located in the corner of the video. The global motion vector can be estimated and the image can be compensated by using the multiple local motions of sub-images. Through the calculations of the phase correlation, the motion of the background can be subtracted from the former frame and the compensated frame, which share the same background. The moving objects in the video can also be extracted. In this paper, calculating the phase correlation to track the robust motion vectors results in the compensation of vibrations, such as movement, rotation, expansion and the downsize of videos from all directions of the sub-images. Experimental results show that the proposed digital image stabilization algorithm can provide continuously stabilized videos and tracking object movements.
A major advantage of wavefront reconstruction based on a series of diffracted intensity images using only single-beam illumination is the simplicity of setup. Here we propose a fast-converging algorithm for wavefront calculation using single-beam illumination. The captured intensity images are resampled to a series of intensity images, ranging from highest to lowest resampling; each resampled image has half the number of pixels as the previous one. Phase calculation at a lower resolution is used as the initial solution phase at a higher resolution. This corresponds to separately calculating the phase for the lower- and higher-frequency components. Iterations on the low-frequency components do not need to be performed on the higher-frequency components, thus making the convergence of the phase retrieval faster than with the conventional method. The principle is verified by both simulation and optical experiments.

Optical imaging systems that operate through atmospheric pathways often suffer from image degradation, mainly caused by the distortion of light waves due to turbulence in the atmosphere. Adaptive optics technology can be used to correct the image distortion caused by atmospheric disturbances. However, there are challenges in conducting experiments with strong atmospheric conditions. An optical phase plate (OPP) is a device that can simulate real atmospheric conditions in a lab setting. We suggest a novel two-step process to fabricate an OPP capable of simulating the effects of atmospheric turbulence. The proposed fabrication method simplifies the process by eliminating additional activities such as phase-screen design and phase simulation. This enables an efficient and economical fabrication of the OPP. We conducted our analysis using the statistical fluctuations of the refractive index and applied modal expansion using Kolmogorov's theory. The experiment aims to fabricate an OPP with parameters D/r0 ≈ 30 and r0 ≈ 5 cm. The objective is defined with the strong atmospheric conditions. Finally, we have fabricated an OPP that satisfied the desired objectives. The OPP closely simulate turbulence to real atmospheric conditions.
Compact Airborne Spectrographic Imager (CASI) hyperspectral imagery was acquired over the Little Miami River Watershed (1756 square miles) in Ohio, U.S.A., which is one of the largest hyperspectral image acquisition. For the development of a 4m-resolution land cover dataset, a hierarchical approach was employed using two different classification algorithms: 'Image Object Segmentation' for level-1 and 'Spectral Angle Mapper' for level-2. This classification scheme was developed to overcome the spectral inseparability of urban and rural features and to deal with radiometric distortions due to cross-track illumination. The land cover class members were lentic, lotic, forest, corn, soybean, wheat, dry herbaceous, grass, urban barren, rural barren, urban/built, and unclassified. The final phase of processing was completed after an extensive Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) phase. With respect to the eleven land cover class members, the overall accuracy with a total of 902 reference points was 83.9% at 4m resolution. The dataset is available for public research, and applications of this product will represent an improvement over more commonly utilized data of coarser spatial resolution such as National Land Cover Data (NLCD).
Magnetic Resonance Image represents three-dimensional diagnostic imaging technique using both nuclear magnetic resonance phenomenon and computer. Compared with computed tomography (CT), MRI have advantages harmless to patient's body, three-dimensional image with high resolution and disadvantages long data acquisition time because of long T1 relaxation time, relatively low signal to noise ratio, high cost of setting, also. As physiologic motion of tissue results in motion ghost in MRI, high 2.0Tesla make improve low signal to noise ratio. This study have aim to improve image quality with controling motion ghost of tissue. Supposing a moving pixel in constant frequency, one pixel make two ghosts which are same size and different anti-phase. So, this study will show adjust parameter on locational control of motion ghost. Author made moving phantom replaced by respiratory movement of human, researched change of motion frequency, FOV by location shift, and them decided optimal FOV (field of view). The results are as follows: 1. The frequency content of the motion determines how far the image always appear in phase-encoding direction, the morphology of the ghost image is characteristic of the direction of the motion and its amplitude. 2. Double FOV of fixed signal object for locational control of motion ghost is recommended. Decreasement of spatial resolution by increasing FOV can compensate on increasing of matrix in spite of scan time increasement.
